It was advertised previously on the fretboard as a 63. I remember it clearly as I messaged the seller to say it was a 62 slab and potentially more valuable. IIRC it was advertised around £6k.

looks a nice bass. Maybe towards 20k if it was original. Very difficult to judge the right price currently as there are a good number of vintage Jazz basses languishing unsold on the hallowed pages of Messrs Baxter, ATB etc

I saw that. Very helpful if you and I’m sure he’s grateful.

I think the price is punch. Quite why people consider it a “custom colour” when it’s a refin is beyond me.

No nothing wrong with it at all if reflected in the price, but I don't think everyone factors that in enough. That Jazz looks amazing by the way and given the limited colour options at the time it gives you the chance to have something custom

Agreed. I’d also never buy a refin without  rock solid provenance. It’s easy enough to hide things with a new cost of paint. (It’s conceivable that the body may not be original, either…)

Too many unanswered questions for me, but totally understand others are happy with that.

I owned the TH500 and didn't like it at all.  Just wasn't clean enough sounding.  It didn't have anywhere near enough volume for me before a horrible digital distortion ensued.  Also, as with all Aguilar amps - the 40hz Bass control is simply redundant as anything other than a cut, as this is much too low a level to be used effectively.  Again, all my opinion - you might have a better experience!

This is the problem. I like vintage sounding amps but I don't want it to break up like an old valve amp too soon.

I'll stick with what I have (and I have no work so maybe the lack of cash is an influence here!)

Thanks all for your comments and views.

The EBS is not heavy in comparison with other old school amps. My old TE probably weighed double what it does. I had a 350 and liked it. It was 2 ohm capable, so when I replaced it, I went with an Aguilar AG700 (which will also run into 2 ohms). I'm happy with the Aguilar, but that's just me. You should really take your EBS to a shop or two and compare it with other amps. You're obviously very happy with it apart from the weight, so don't get rid of it without doing some homework. Perhaps one of those lightweight rack cases (SKB, Gator, etc) might be helpful if you have it in a full-fat flight-case. Would be a lot cheaper than a new amp.

I used to have two flightcased Hiwatt DR103s so I’m fully aware of how heavy amps are and can be.

The 350 is nice it’s just annoying to carry to my music room in the loft and lug about. I use Barefaced cabs and just fancied a fully lightweight rig.

A/B testing sounds like a great idea.

  5. Take them to court. A small claim will cost you about £35 and is worth doing. It shows you’re serious and also that you won’t settle for less.

When they settle (which they will) they’ll pay your costs back. I run a small business and have done this several times.

  6. I gig a fair bit and have a lovely EBS 350 amp in a flight case. It’s solid, sounds amazing and always delivers - but it’s heavy.

I take an Elf as a backup but was wondering if the Tonehammer 500 would be as loud and effective.

    Any experiences to share?

  7. My aunty (love her) found this and rescued it. It’s a made in Korea Aria Magna series bass.

The guitar has been poorly stored and heavily used. I can’t test anything and I don’t know if it works.

I’ve been given a estimate to put right but it’s the same price (give it take) as a used one would fetch so offering is here as a project.

Thinking around £45 including postage (neck off).

If im way off tell me as I have no need of this bass here and would prefer a BC-er brought it back to life if possible.

Frets are fine, body is well worn, components have some corrosion, pickup is untested and the split pickup appears to have suffered a foam malfunction!

Could be a nice price negotiation for someone. I bought a Warwick second hand on here but the truss was knackered. Even for a neck thru the gallery were able to put a new one in for £100 or so.

Very true but would affect value, of course:

Thanks for the heads up BB, always good to know

All good. I’ve bought a few bits from them and they’ve always been more than excellent. Perhaps they have fixed this issue. I just wanted to share my experience as it’s a good price for a really lovely bass.

  10. Just a warning. I bought this bass (https://richtonemusic.co.uk/fender-mustang-bass-1975-sunburst-hard-case-2nd-hand/) and had it delivered. When I tried to change to flats the increased tension necessitated a turn on the truss rod. Unfortunately, the rod has seized which either means it needs some pretty major lubrication or it's at the end of its travel.

I pointed this out to them and they agreed to a rapid return. It was picked up yesterday and my refund was processed today. (Happy days)

Unfortunately, they seem to have just advertised it for sale again without acknowledging the issue. They may have fixed it in the last 3 hours, which is great. But I'd exercise caution. Other than the truss rod it was a lovely bass, so here's hoping they have fixed it!
