Still here and looking fabulous…

Did the first of a run of 4 gigs this week (tiring). Very cool little pub and was a fantastic gig. Got out of there at 12:30.

This is a Roth & Junius BSB-02 3/4 BK Bass Soft Bag gig bag.
It’s very well padded indeed. And is quite heavy.
I don’t need two gig bags and this is the better condition one so I thought I’d sell it.
details of the bag here: https://www.thomann.co.uk/roth_junius_bsb_02_3_4_bk_bass_soft_bag.htm
delivered for £99No rips, tears or damage. Used for gigging a total of once.
(Makita cordless power drill not included!)

Wait.. you thought that massive shadow was a gap???
Crikey.
I’m not sure what you mean, but I’m currently cleaning the bathroom so have more pressing matters to attend to. -

That's the bit I find strange. I can remember old cars from the 50s and 60s and without exception, my current Seat Leon estate is a better car in every single way. Faster, roomier, safer, more reliable etc etc.
The way it reads on most vintage guitars is that they seem to have had some special pixie dust sprinkled over them that imbues them with a magical sound that you can't make now.
I know that people like old things, my parents sold antiques, and I have a large collection of cigarette cards (> 1 million) I inherited from my father that we built up together, so I know about "wanting to own" something old, but not every guitar of that era was special.
David Gilmour sold his old Strats and got a lot of money but then said his new ones were just as good.
Saying it's unique because Eric (we're on first name terms) or Jack or Roger or whoever played it, I understand the desire to own it, but that doesn't make it an exceptional sounding guitar or bass.
I love looking at these old guitars but I can't see how each and every one is magical sounding. Some may be great but I suspect some aren't. At the end of the day it's wood and wire and some cheap electrics with some protective covering.
Mind you the Mona Lisa is just wood canvas and pigment 😄
Rant over
Rob
People are weird.I knew a guy who had to reinforce his house because the weight of 75,000 records was likely to cause damage.
He had every record catalogue in a database that took him years to build.
Some people like records, some people like old guitars. World carries on turning.

..... or a Friday afternoon instrument?
I’ve never seen one so bad. There’s no way that would go through QC as it is, Friday or not.It just looks like the neck has been swapped for a different one and that’s why there’s a gap.
Even if it’s all original (which I don’t believe it is) it’s so god damn ugly I couldn’t bear to look at it.

Why don’t the pubs ask the brewery for free beer?
If the bands have volunteered to help, then that’s fine as a fundraiser for a treasured venue. I’ve seen that and done it.
My band plays in a friends pub each month at a third of our normal fee as we love the guy, love the gig and it helps put an amazing venue. Win. Win. Win.
But if the economics of running the place don’t stack up, it’s just a matter of time before it all ends.

I don’t know what happened here.Anyway, I think the body, guard etc are all original. To me it looks like a neck swap.

I’m not so sure. The later 60s and 70s ones aren’t as prone to shrinking as the early ones. Plus if it had shrunk in such an extreme way it would have cracked at the tips like most of the old ones have.
Perhaps I’m overly cynical but I don’t like it.

Im more inclined to believe it’s a neck swap than anything else.

The massive gap between the scratch plate and the neck too looks wrong to me. I’ve never seen that on hundreds of vintage Fenders.
-
Just seen this:
https://bassbros.co.uk/product/1969-fender-jazz-bass-3/
Neck doesn’t look right to me. Date stamp is far too clear and little to no colouration on the headstock. All the vintage Fenders I’ve had have a beautiful orange glow to them. Binding also looks far too white.
Not suggesting it’s a fake, just intersting.

Apparently I should have activated my pension before the tarrifs struck.
Leave it where it is and don’t check it for a bit! -
Best value entry-level 5 string? I reckon so!
This is an almost new Yamaha TRBX305 in some sort of metallic green/blue.
I’m the second owner and bought this recently to try my hand at 5 string but it’s not for me. The bass is as new really, with no marks or damage anywhere. Even comes with the plastic on the knobs and the back plate.
Its typical Yamaha build quality and sounds utterly amazing.
£299 is a good price I think. Can post as I have a box (no hard case).
But now reduced to £285 (see below)
Or collection from Bristol if that’s your thing.

Here is my NS WAV 4 bass in lovely honey burst.
It’s a 3/4 scale instrument (not a 34” traditional electric bass scale) which I bought for silent/evening practice which I haven’t done as I’m able to play during the day without interruption.
Im the second owner and it’s in excellent shape aside from some discolouration around the back (pictured). How this happened I have no idea.
Comes in the case with the stand and the original instructions.
A lovely and highly usable item that I simply don’t need.
I can probably post this, just need a little time.
Strings are stock NS strings, but you can fit DB strings should you wish.

Personally, I’d avoid it. I know double bass strings are expensive but you don’t want it to break on you.
Why not stick a wanted add here? Strings would attract no import duty in the EU and postage won’t be much…

Still going. I practice about an hour a day following a proper structure and am currently playing at grade 4 level. Still lacking dynamics and expression, but that will come with more practice.
Lessons every two weeks is about right and a lot of fun.
Some weeks you make no progress and on some days you climb a mountain.

This is crazy. I’m so sorry to all the people this happened to.
-
Cheers Tom!
It's a lovely bass. The market being what it is, I'm reducing it to £950.
Can include a super-duper hardwearing case for £100, or a total of £1025.
-
Will sell this for £220 including the hard case.
That's a collection price, but postage/courier won't be hugely expensive as it's a relatively cheap guitar. I basically want this gone.

Lovely pre amp. Great purchase!

I have no idea how this all works. The YouTube thing sort of passes me by, but this is properly dodgy.
I did wonder how they managed to execute such note perfect stuff. Turns out it’s all BS.
