So the Victor Bailey I got a few months ago marked bass number 50 that I've owned.
I've had a count and it turns out I have moved on 30, still have 20.
On the block to chop - My EB Musicman Stingray 3EQ and my 90's Dano DC.
Will replace with one - either an active Jazz of some kind (currently eyeing up another QMT in cherryburst or a 2016 American Deluxe Jazz in Natural) OR a 2023 Am PRO II in Dark Night with rosewood.
What I've moved on over the years, in chronological order:
1 Fender Mike Dirnt Sig Precision Bass Black/White/Rosewood
2 SX Acoustic Bass 4 Natural
3 DaisyRock Rock Candy 4 Pink Sparkle Active
4 2001 Fender Jazz Deluxe Active Black/Tort/Rosewood
5 2002 Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass CIJ Black/White/Maple
6 2002 Fender CIJ 70’s RI Precision Olympic White/Black /Rosewood
7 2004 EB Musicman SUB Bass Red/Black/Ebony
8 Epiphone Thunderbird IV White
9 1994 Fender Precision Lyte Deluxe Green Sparkle/Gold
10 Gibson Thunderbird Studio V Ebony
11 2004 Fender Mustang Bass CIJ Fiesta Red/MOP/Rosewood
12 1994 EB Musicman Stingray 3EQ Natural/Black/Maple
13 1979 Fender Precision Bass Sunburst/Black/Maple
14 Schecter Diamond 4 Black
15 2004 Fender Mark Hoppus Sign Precision Bass mk 1 Seafoam Green/MOP/Rosewood
16 Squier Jaguar VM Black/Tort/Rosewood
17 Epiphone Thunderbird IV Black/White/Rosewood
18 Fender Victor Bailey Signature Acoustic Bass IV
19 1970’s Aria Diamond Ric copy
20 2000’s Dean Stylist ‘Cabbie’ w Gretsch Blacktops – NYC Cab Yellow/Checker/Rosewood
21 1993 Fender JP-90 Bass Black/Black/Rosewood
22 BC Rich Virgo Celtic
23 Squier CV 50’s Precision Bass Fiesta Red/Tort/Rosewood
24 Squier SS Jaguar Bass Black/White Pearloid/Rosewood
25 Squier Precision Bass Mini Torino Red/White/Pau F
26 2004 Fender OBP-51 RI Precision Bass refin White/Black/Maple
27 Jackson CS Minion PJ Green
28 2011 Fender American Standard Jazz Bass Sunburst/Black/Maple
29 2007 Fender Jaguar Bass CIJ series 1 Hot Rod Red/White/Rosewood

All these sold in NZ? was the Sub a 4 or 5 stringer ?

In 1988/89 I had a Hohner B2A, was well made
I also had a try on a Hohner Jack which I thought was well made if a bit vague in the electronics department
well done you - instrument looks great

Yeah, I had the same thought when I saw one a while ago. Or the makers have a keen sense of irony.
Apparently they are marvellous . A cast over here in NZ has one, he loves it. As far as I can tell it's a great piece of kit for people who don't use an amplifier

Simplifier is simply the wrong name for that piece of kit

I can recognise when modes are being used, eg today I have been playing ‘Coz I Luv You’ by Slade, which leans heavily on the Phrygian. But I never bothered learning them by rote.
To me their most useful aspect is modal interchange, where chords are ‘borrowed’ from other modes - it’s used a lot in rock, particularly using chords from the parallel minor (Aeolian mode).
Careless Whisper
Saxophone run is A Phrygian
Modes - Diatonic Harmony - compulsory learning for me

Unlined for me
previously had a lined (defret)
aesthetic / vanity unlined is best , looks cooler

looks sleek as
apparently there was one here in Christchurch mid 1990's at CJ Charlie Jemmet's store
Steve(Kiwi) got to play it
I remember reading a Cass Lewis (TTD - Skunk) interview he liked the Cutlass

So I thought a Cutlass was a graphite neck Stingray
and a Caprice was the EBMM version of a Precision...
My Sub 5 is heading to the luthier's on 10/01 as I don't like the 10th fret at all. The neck however is good so assuming this "fret level" is not problematic I expect it'll be a good purchase.

I still have pedals from 30+ years ago! I love the idea of the Atlas though. Missing out on functionality because an app is no longer supported is a bit disappointing.

Today was good

I used D'Addario half wounds for probably 20 years
they are very sticky when new
I don't use them anymore - flats only for me - Halfs are probably an individual feel thing
they were good for calming down very bright basses

Fretless is fun.
I wouldn’t be without one, in fact I would quite like a Fretless 5
