Ok. I remember seeing one in store when we were on a road trip with the first band to give the Trace rig a proper workout. NZ must have got them toot sweet.
I think I got the first one in Aotearoa
Feb 98 Klystrom
Then I got an ABM 1510HX cabinet in 1999 second hand which I think is April 1998 build

After many years of struggling with Jazzes I think I’ve finally found out a way to make them work for me. Ive never managed to set an amp to work well with a Jazz so now I set the amp the same as I would for my Precision (which with everything on the Jazz on full makes the it far too shrill on the top end for me) then use the tone & volume controls to get whatever sound I’m after. It tends to be tone on something like 75% then pickups depending on sound wanted. I’ve always been an everything on full kind of guy but am finding this is really working and am now - at last - understanding the versatility of the Jazz bass.
I think I went 20 years on a Jazz without using the bridge pickup

Wounded Paw Battering Ram v2.6
added bonus of a fuzz side
Soildgoldfx Beta Germanium
I use this a boost rather than OD. The boost side adds a nice touch of hair
Free The Tone Bassblaster
expensive but A+ low gain. Great response to players touch. Works with Passive or Active, Rounds or Flats. IMO can’t go wrong with this pedal.

It's one thing being genuinely talented but a total dickw@d but another thing when you're the latter but with all the talent of something you've scraped off the bottom of your shoe. Liam Gallagher's without doubt the worst singer from a successful band of the last 50 years. As for his brother's c@ck songs where do you start the list of cr@pitude? The meaningless drivel that pass for lyrics? the rudimentary guitar, bass and drums accompaniment? Noel's shyt3 guitar playing?. Soz people, Oasis are one band I genuinely do hate and I get carried away.
The guy from RHCP is worse than Liam
Damned with faint praise

I played a hall ( approx 100 people ) no PA support and using my ABM600 and two 210H cabs I was very loud ( master volume around 11o clock
With this it was a very powerful full sound ( cabs are great ) and loud
Not sure how much louder the head would go but it didn’t disappoint for a second.
I found that with the EQ off etc = lifeless under powered sound, Shape Out = a buried woolly sound
Getting the right EQ and having a high input gain seems to work
Pushing 1 button in or out can Completely change perceived volume projection.

John Curley - Afghan Whigs
I think Greg Dulli would a cool hang plus he’s a magnificent songwriter
Paul Chambers - Mikes Davis “Kind of Blue”
Paul Jackson - Headhunters with Herbie Hancock
-
Dave Mustaine
Gene Simmons
Mike Love

I have just fitted a set 0f .045 - .105 GHS Precision Flats to a US Standard Precision, not tried these strings before so will be interested to hear them once I've finished setting the bass up.
I use the 105 E set
Got some last year as emergency back up given New Zealand susceptibility to freight crisis
Very impressed bought a couple more sets.
Not as tight or old as LaBellas
Not as bright as Chromes
A nice variation of a theme.
Good balance string to string. Smooth without being dull.
I’m using on a Fretless Jazz

Has anyone had a whirl on the CTM pre rack?

When I am considering buying a new amp, new bass or anything else for that matter, I have never looked at a you tube video beforehand. If want a new amp, I want to see it, pick it up (or try to) and play through it, preferably with my own bass, if not, then something very similar to it.
Yeah I’m only slowly getting to this YouTube product channels
Generally I think “right, check this “ and some guy is slapping an Alembic 32nd note style and that’s me tired out
I did watch an Ashdown one on the CTM which was ok but it was months after I bought mine (which was second hand as well)

What doesn’t help Ashdown is the constant changing of designs using similar model designations
ABM cabs as example
Finding reviews just on the cabs is hard going !
I still use the 1998 ABM 1510HX cab
Doesn't appear to exist anywhere else in the World

I’m quite liking the Solidgoldfx Beta Germanium into my old Ashdown ABM
Good for Rock Music
