They've had more than this thread about similar issues and I know they moderately often rush ads online and reuse previous  descriptions without proper edits.

The owner knows how he's doing business and I've definitely had disagreements with him over things in the past, but I'll keep going there as overall, they have the best stuff out there. And it's just down the road 🤣

Fair comment but I have come to expect more from them.  In this day and age of online business they have shirked responsibility, customer attention, their own mistakes and attention to detail.........

Yeah, that’s a good idea mentioning BC, ultimately it’s what you’re happy with , as tegs says, the neck is an easy fix , but they should compensate you something for being misleading

Well said !  They have lost business already just from this thread.  Not what I would have expected from BD.  Surely there must be someone from BD on this forum?  I was looking at a pedal and some strings this month, wont be using BD.  Also 9/10 rating mistake!!!  Bovine IMO..........complacent.  They have offered the refund as per sale of goods act.    That is not attention to detail and I actually find it quite arrogant.....

Never mind Prof, I greatly appreciate your friendly support 👍  end of the day, I've got the bass i wanted, I've not exactly been massively ripped off.. I just ended up dealing with Rsoles :)

You are magnaminous!  I respect you enormously for your attitude but they will NOT get any more business from me and I shall pass that on.  Shysters IMO....... and hugely disappointed in their response.

  4. Their reputation has diminshed for me.  That is a mercenaty way out to offer a full rend - it is correct, and they are right...but.  This forum is importnat to all retailers..........I am sorely disappointed as the cost of returns, packaging, damage to reputation, bad press must be worth something!!!  Short term gain and a long term pain.  What do they base their 9/10 rating against?  This has upset me as this is not a personal service, their offer purely covers them and has no respect for the individual.   I will not buy from them again................the business of any business is to get customers and to keep them............shame on BD

Depends on how you want to proceed with this. They are in clear breach of the trade descriptions act. They advertised it as 9/10 their mistakes are not your problem.

That said they have offered a return and full refund so this would cover them of any liability if I understand this correctly.

Ignorance is no plea of innocence, agree with the post.   They should front this properly and offer a refund against what they think is an error............ disappointing.................

I used to have a Hohner Jack headless bass, on that I was able to adjust for a decent low action, it was actually a very good bass ...purely IMHO...sounded great ( active elecs but you could switch them off if you wanted) I used it for gigs and it did the job well. I prefer the headless ones with a "body" myself, not keen on the little cricket bat things, again just IMHO .

Agree with all above.....I have four headless..........a body helps...........

@ProfJames Great to see ELO so raw. It's at my uni - about 10 years before I got there. There was a Tears for Fears gig on YT I was at, an outdoor gig 1983 but I couldn't see myself on the video (awful quality) - looks like the original full TFF show has been taken down and chopped up in to individual songs. I've seen a few bands on that same stage though. J Geils, Nick Lowe, Aswad - I wish I'd been around  for shows in the 70's Brunel attracted some top bands - early Genesis for one.

They had some great bands on back in the day, used to travel around to see a lot of the punk bands but Slough/Langley was miles away on our minds!  That is a great vid.  Seen Tears for Fears back in the day, excellent stuff, Nick Lowe as well.........saw Genesis doing Land of the Slippermen with Eddie and the Hot Rods supportung them.......loads of great stuff back then............

Good to know BD have a decent rep. as a seller anyway, I've heard of them, but not ever bought from them before. Would have been nice to have had a confo email from them by now tho ( maybe they do it by hand, not automated )

It's a very long time since I had a proper Stingray so comparison will be tinged with memory clouds !

I wouldn't be concerned with their automated system, the shop is shut, you have confirmation from PayPal that the transaction was completed.  I would be amazed if something was out of kilter.  Each retailer works in a different way, different systems, processes and protocols, different payment gateways, etc.   Sit back and await the delivery!

Supposedly they were made in the Stingray plant, by the same people, with  pretty much the same parts, but an "economy"  finish, is the way I've heard it.

This one in the pics looks good, hopefully it'll arrive without being wrecked en route, (or arrive at all !.)... I recently ordered something from GAK which seemed to vanish in DHL system, I ended up with a refund but makes you a bit wary of stuff being shipped via "courier"..

Heard almost exactly the same as you re the SUB.  You can let us have a comparison please.  Always a concern using a courier.  BD should be fine though, great shop and good experienced people.

I've had a real stingray back in the day, (in fact 2 but passed one on fairly quickly) so kind of know what they're like, these sub versions seem to have a good rep when I've heard them talked about anyway.

I'm new to them (still defer to my BB1100s as my "go to") but really like the feel and the low end.  Not played a SUB but as you said...... people pay them a lot of respect and even question the diffeerences.  Looks a good purchase...

  11. I went out to buy two MM basses - a standard 4H and a Big Al.  Bought both of them about three months ago ish.  Was looking pre Brexit as we all knew prices were going to increase.   Within a week of buying them I was offered considerably more, however the reason I bought them was not to make money.  There are a few bargains but you have to be diligent.

You need to be on the FB bass marketplaces, eBay, Gumtree and Preloved and looking every day.  Reverb is off the scale and not even a benchmark.  However the best price basses are on this forum.  In the last year I have bought two Shukers, two Sandbergs, BB1100s - all in great A1 condition and each transaction was a pleasure.
