1. Thank you. Yes it feels good to have a bass back in my hands. The old chestnut of 'how good a player might I be now If I hadn't stopped playing all those years ago' keeps cropping up. Don't think I will ever be a gigging bassist....let alone being asked to join AC/DC. Good time to be starting again though.....much more learning material about on the internet. And great forums like this one. The future is bright....the future is short scale.
2. Are pedals like horses for courses.....does each one get used for a specific style that you want to play your bass? Or are some pedals more generic....and can be used in context with differing playing styles? And, if you were to recommend just one pedal, what type....and how (in very basic laymans terms so that I can understand) it alters the sound of your bass.
3. A cheap but (very) cheerful Ibanez Mikro. Currently getting accustomed to the various tones that I can get throug the little amp that I usually use to play my guitar. Thoroughly enjoying nurdling on it. Playing it as it came out of the box and so far so good.
4. Have received an early crimbo pressie. Currently banging out the bass intro to the Formula One programme. So my current repertoire is one piece.
5.
Get Alan @ ACG to build you one. My shorty Finn 4 is amazing
They look fantastic. But I only have 250 notes to play with.
6. Intriguing. I have no idea but feel that I ought to offer something of an answer at least. 1) Employees Mark. 2) A rare 7" fretboard radius (he made two in quick succession and couldn't do the maths)!
7. Any purchase would be with PayPal or a visa card......and I presume that they would charge some form of administration fee!
8. EMG preamp? I think they were called 'active electronics' when I was a young feller, lol. I need to get up to speed with all things modern bass. Apparently some now have 5....6 or even more strings.
9. What typically could the full purchase price of an item be that is selling for example for £100 on the Thoman website? Are there any 'unseen' charges?
10. Thanks for all of the replies and suggestions. I last played bass around 30 years ago. Used to have a Fender Mustang which played pretty well, but in hindsight, sounded a bit woolly on some frets on the E string. I didn't understand things like set up and action in those early days......just wanted to make some noise....if that noise was in tune then all the better! I'm approaching 60 now and fancy playing again. Fancying being a bass slapping geriatric. Have £250 to spend. Looking to get a Dean Evo XM.
11. Could anyone recommend a short scale bass? Or at least give me some names to check out online.
