As a resident, can you confirm whether Rodney Crowell was correct on this point: Down in Louisiana The bayou's by-and-by A pirogue pole or your natural soul Keeps you tied to a tree high-tide
Absolutely correct. Actually lots of folks keep tied to a tree low tide too . Thanks for the welcome .
 2.
On Internet forums, there are certain patterns. One widespread pattern is that of people becoming a forum member and soon after introducing themselves and maybe starting a generic thread or two that doesn't demand anything from them, they'll talk about an unknown product that someone thinks needs a boost. Now happily I'm not a very sceptical person, so I believe that exactly this pattern is purely coincidental, and that no social engineering or viral marketing is ever involved in any of its occurances.
Wow, hopefully I didn't give the impression I was trying to sell anything. I've got nothing whatever to do with Jammit (aside from being a customer). I just like this product a lot and have learned a lot from it. I thought it might be useful to others too.
 3. there is an app called "Jammit" that lets you download (for about 5 bucks a song) isolated bass tracks of famous songs. It's pretty amazing, you can hear exactly what your bass heros are doing.
 4.
I recently bought a Peavey Cirrus BXP 4 from a local Ebay seller. Collected the bass and paid cash (big mistake). When I got it home, I felt it had got too much relief in the neck for me so, I removed the truss rod cover to give the rod a tweak. To my dismay, I found that the hexagonal socket in the end of the rod had been rounded out. I took the bass to my local luthier who tried a number of different tools to turn the rod but alas, he concluded that it wouldn't move and that the fretboard would need removing to replace the trussrod, a fact that Peavey Technical confirmed. As the lacquered finish on the through-neck extends over the edges of the fretboard, the neck would also need refinishing. My luthier estimated that it was likely to cost around £200 for the repair. As I only paid £147 for the bass, it doesn't seem worth paying £200 to get it fixed, I could just buy another. I contacted the seller who, as I expected, knew nothing about a problem with the trussrod and as I paid cash, I don't have any recourse through Ebay. I have been watching videos on Youtube showing fretboard removal using a steam iron and pallette knife / scraper. I've considered having a go myself but I'm justifiably nervous as I could end up with a pile of firewood. What would you do?
Multi-clustered run around. Drop it and learn from this experience. Don't do ebay when it comes to a bass.
 5. I generally change my strings when I have trouble keeping them in tune. I go about a month or so. I've never tried boiling or a cleaning solution. I just lay down the 20 bucks for a new set (GHS).
 6. Gorgeous beat-uppage on that specimen. Wish I could afford it.
 7.
What kind of island is this? That has no inhabitants, yet a working power supply. I assume said power supply would need a source, i. e. a generator. Perhaps it's a sunny island and has solar power or maybe offshore wind power. Whichever one would require regular maintenance or your jamming might be short lived
Well it's kind of a rediculous premise, I agree. Really it's just me asking folks about their most loved bass and amp. So what are yours?
 8.
Welcome to basschat John
Thanks John, super glad to be here .

 10.
I appear to have be washed up on a island with a load of music equipment on it. Luckily i brought my wood saw, hammer and wood chisel. Time to start chopping all that old driftwood up and forming it into a raft Hehehe
Won't work. 11.
That is a surfboard right there with no modifications
I'll bet it's murder restringing that beast!
 12.
No hesitation; my Verithin bass and my Hiwatt DR205 into 'Giggles', my HH 2 x 15 cab ... (Can I take my Camco drums too, please..?)
Seeing that you're a mod and all, there can only be one correct answer to your request for adding Camco drums. Of course you may !
 13. Brother in Arms ! Did you ever get down to Lafayette? Oh we got the seafood and fesivals here to rival anything in New Orleans. And we've got a great Mardi Gras too .
 14. and you could only have one bass and one amp................which of them would you choose? Pretend the island has an unlimited electrical power source. I'd take my P-bass and my B30 practice amp .
 15. Another Yank nudging into the conversation. I promise to be civil .
