My Squier VMJ required a fret level and full set up before it was playable to my liking, fortunately the shop (yes a shop... remember them?!) I bought it from did it for free

The exact same can be said about Fender, Ashdown, Hartke and the many, many other manufacturers that receive exaggerated claims and criticisms on here as well.
