Mesa Subway D 800+ has a variable HPF. My Subway D800 has it built-in so not as flexible as it's big brother. Not an issue for me as my "always on" Zoom B1-4 has 2x HPF stacked at the start of each patch. (Set at 30Hz for most of my basses but set to 40Hz for EB3)

That is beautiful.  I love the Pup covers and read your posts on the darkside(TB) I think the Jazz knobs are a really subtle up grade. When fitting Hipshot 2 and 3 point bridge upgrade I always add a spring washer under the bridge to prevent pulling the threaded insert out of the body. The clearance Hipshot allow under the fixing screw mount is far too deep and without a suitably sized washer to reduce the clearance you can pull the insert up out of the body.

Gibson Les Paul DC Tribute.

Drove to Southampton to pick this lovely bass up last Thursday from a real Gentleman Basschatter.

Sounds and plays wonderfully.

looking at the dimensions the 8" cab isn't that much bigger than the 6 so if i can find somewhere to squeeze it in then i'll have a go at building it.

The change to the tone is quite dramatic and more dark deep and PBass like. 
 

With both pups on together sounds fuller and less “ mid suck “  and generally a hotter signal output too.

 

I think they are a good tonal upgrade and will be put through their paces very soon. 
 

TOP TIP: don’t use the Fender foam under the DP123 as it will be near on impossible to compress and get them low enough. 
I used some of the foam that came in the Dimarzio packaging ( less dense ) and it worked well. 

Sounds like you made a good choice. TBH consider changing the VVT to V -Blend-T. You achieve more flexibile tonal mix and a far better control over your sound.

I've never played one but as long as the neck is straight I reckon it could be refined/modded into something pretty close to whatever the RB guy is using.

But these Affinity Jag basses are medium scale 32ins and have a huge reputation as upgrade platforms.

I'm more interested in a 30ins short scale with two humbuckers. Watching to see people's views on the Squier Rascal to see if it appeals. But the Custom Shop Jags at Royal Blood's show just really hooked me.

I replaced a set of Lace Sensor Pups with the Kubicki Preamp Active system, with a pair of Dimarzio J DP123s in a 90's US Fender Jazz Deluxe.

The Lace sensors were silent but lacked output even with the 9v Kubicki preamp.

Being a Dimarzio FanBoi having used the Split P on a couple of Fender P basses I knew pretty much what to expect and I was not disappointed .

The DP123s come in two different sizes so make sure you order the correct length. My US J Deluxe needed the neck and bridge Pups to be the same length and when coupled with a loom from @KiOgon the Jazz sounded fantastic. By carefully selecting the right value of Tone cap you can make your bass sound like a P or Jazz , a very flexible workhorse. Lots of power and tone, I would highly recommend the Dimarzio DP123s.

So, the Fender Jaguars with the humbuckers are Custom Shop builds which puts those lovely looking Short Scales out of my budget. Let's hope for a Squier version.

Great sound for Elton's  set and Matt Bissonette bass sound is stunning.

Just for clarity. 

I used one or two BF Super Compacts for a number of years with two or three bands.  Depending on the band and venue it was a mix of Mesa Subway D 800 , Fender Rumble HD 800 or Fender Rumble 500 head with either one or two BF Super Compacts and All my olde school needs were satisfied. 

But bands and tech have moved on and I still have my three amps (sold the BF Super Compacts)but I  managed to source a BC112 mk3 cab and installed the same speaker, HF driver ,horn and crossover as the LFsys Silverstone and it fully covers my current needs.

LFsys also do a really supaduper 1x12 Monaco cab which is capable of handling 600w but in my view the lower powered Silverstone delivers a much more Olde School vibe that appeals to my tonal needs. 

I only came to that conclusion having heard all the cabs in a shoot out. So before parting with your hard earned cash  TRY BEFORE YOU BUY.

I've used mine for the last 8 years. It's a small, light weight cab with a big sound and lots of volume. Also sounds good at a whisper.

+1 for Barefaced Super Compact. 

BUT

Consider LFSYS Silverstone 1x12. Lovely powerful FRFR cab with a super lowend delivery. Heard it a shoot out and it really appealed to my tastes.

I'm sure glad I left the controls VVT, it seems odd but it's like having two different character basses in ONE bass. A typical Gibson EBO and a G&L Fallout (almost Stingray). Keeping the Pups separate appears to be the most versatile. 

Recently upgraded a Jet Star purchase with an Artec EBC4 and a G&L MFD Pup but a few comments has got me thinking of ways to make the bass more aesthetically pleasing by spraying the chrome Pup black.

Anyone succeeded in such an endeavour?

Yer, it would have looked more aesthetically pleasing if I had used a DiMarzio Model One, its black cover would have matched the G&L MFD. But having listened to LowEnd lobster  video on his Ephi EB0 Pup comparison the Artec appealed to my tastes. I  installed an Artec in my Ephi reissue Newport bass and made it sound huge. Being a Stingy Ole Sod  the £30 Artec won over the £120 for the DiMarzio with buckets load of Mud. Happy days!!!!!

Really enjoying my modded De Armond Jet Star short scale.

Added something different to the herd last week, I bought a lovely Korean made De Armond (Guild) Jet Star short scale bass.

Two piece mahogany body with bound maple neck and rosewood fret board, balances perfectly and a joy to play.

It was fitted with USA De Armond single coil Pups which were lacking in all departments so combining my love for my G&L Fallout and EB3 I fitted an Artec EBC4 Mud Bucker and a G&L MFD L1000 Pup. Sadly the DeArmond single coil Pups were quite long so after routing the cavities for the new Humbuckers I obtained some excellent perfectly fitting bezels to cover up the old cavities from Brian at Earlpilanz. Swapped the tone cap but left the VVT arrangement as it was, maybe a later upgrade??

Anyhow what do you think?

I`m sure it`s not to everyones taste but I do enjoy basses that are a bit different.

All great stuff Guys but just watched a couple of hours of the Jeff Beck tribute concert on UThube, and not an IEM in sight. 

Lots of titchy, tiny (Fender) combos miked and played at comfortable levels. Lovely sounding Laney Digbeth amp & 4x10 or 4x8 cab.

Am I missing something 😒
