One of the best drummists I've ever worked with ALWAYS does that.  You only have to tell him once to shut up, but you do need to tell him.

I was unaware of a 'Gibson can't make a bass' feeling.  One of my bass goals starting out was to own a T-Bird,  and I hope to own more in future.  I disliked the universality of Fender basses.  For me, when I saw that Gibson was making this EB series - I think 2013 was the first one - I felt a bit sad that Gibson had felt the need to make something 'safer' to try and win back some market share.  Gibson, too me, have always been about doing different things in their bass design.

But on the other hand, if no-one cared what instruments looked like AndyJr's build threads wouldn't be quite so popular...

Sounds like a 'lucky' extra screw, but you'll see.

IMO, the Roland is just a bit too expensive, when the TC BG250s - in whatever flavour - delivers the goods in a more cost effective way.  I've even listened to the 2x8 version in a quiet-ish gig, and it still sounded great.

Or even the TC BG500 up for sale with one of BC's grandees!

Sorry, I don't mean to bombard this thread. Just a thought process - I trust the majority of the used gear on here  - as opposed to eBay or similar - because IMO you're unlikely to sell things to other BassChatters if they're not tip top, unless otherwise specified.

It does depend on what you want to play (stylistically) and how you want to sound.  I'm not a fan of Ashdown gear, myself.  The MAG head that powers that combo is fairly well proven tech and well liked in these parts.

Have you considered buying a new head and a second hand speaker?  I see the TC BH250 head is at PMT for just £222, and maybe this guy's cab...

I A/B-ed one of these a few years ago with a TC BG250 1x15 when weighing up a new combo.  I was attracted by it being Roland (I like their KC keyboard combos) and the on board FX stuff looked interesting, again as it was a Roland, so Boss.

I ended up buying the TC, because I found the 120 good, just not as good.  A little cold sounding, too.  I was trying to not be fooled by the TC being a 15", so I had discounted that.  This is then compounded by their (new) cost being roughly 15-25% more expensive than most mid-range combos.  I didn't find the FX very useable, either.

This all sounds rather glum!

It did howeve show to e very well made and sturdy.  The third of the amps I was meant to test - an Ampeg BA115HP - didn't even make it to the shop without dying!

It does then need said critical mass of musos to not insulate themselves to new people, creating a closed shop.  He said from experience.

This line has always looked a bit confuzzled, to me.  It's like a Gibsonised P bass, but with Italian looking controls and pickups.

It doesn't repulse me, but neither does it draw.  I have had a go on a couple though, and I wasn't much of a fan.

I'm not even that sticksy, but I identify with your statement.  There are, after all, only so many opportunities.  It's about how far you are willing to travel (in any context) for the right band.

I've never owned the particular cab in question, but based on a picture on the internet it seems front loaded.  take the grille off (looks like two screws on each side wall) and the driver(s) will be screwed down.  you can then pop the drivers out and have an inspect.

With the grille off, I'd also run up the cab and see if the rattle goes away - as it has a metal grille.  With one cab I had, I ended up making up soft PE bushes to stop the metal grill rattling against the wooden cab when pushing air. 

Much life other life partnerships, I think there's probably more than one shoe that fits.

The first drummer I really connected with in that way sadly passed away far far too soon.

Plus one to the above.  Had this happen on one of my old Marshall cabs, which had been rewired prior to my ownership for unknown reasons.

Like I said on another topic, I would add to the above list the ability to listen and engage.

Just to echo other's comments, a great job on Basschat TNG.  Just need to fix the cigarette lighter.

I have a question though, that I can't see asked anywhere else - what's Watts?  How do I have some?  How does it work?  Are they tube, s/s or Class D?

Not wanting to move this thread away from it's focus, I'm not always dismissive of a 'crap' drummer. 

I currently play in a punky type outfit - not my usual bag, dahlink - with a guy who describes himself as a crap drummer.  In fact, he was crap when I started to play with him about 6 months ago.  However, he listened.  To me, that then makes him not crap.  He's now much better and thus more confident.

On the other hand, I play in a Funk/Soul band where the drummer's a virtuoso and likes to show so.  Don't fugging listen tho.  Ergo, potentially crap.

Every review I've read or seen about these doofers has been guitar oriented. 

I'd say it's aimed at the one man and backing track brigade and/or general improv practice, but it's randomness  would probably put them off, too.

So, maybe these are cheap because no-one wants them...?  Having said that, if I had £50 burning a hole in my pocket I'd give this a try for interest.
