1. Interesting, inventive player. 'Girls and Boys' particularly is a great homage to the likes of John Taylor without descending into pastiche.
2.
If you're prepared to spend the moolah - and really you should because it's your hearing and you'll never get it back if you lose it - then you're perfectly located for a trip to ACS who are based in your very town: Units 22-23 Beaumont Close Banbury Oxfordshire OX16 1TG United Kingdom They're really friendly and their ear plugs are as good as you'll find anywhere. Good luck at The Bell on Friday - used to play there all the time till I quit the pub band scene. Fun pub to play for sure.
Cheers - I'll let you know how we get on at The Bell.
3. Appreciate the ear plug recommendations guys - thanks
4. Brilliant first gig with my new band Til Dawn at The Swan in Banbury last night. Nice easy load in and set up, quick sound check before 9pm start with 2 x 1 hour sets. Really cooking by the end, decent crowd and some kind words afterwards. It was my first gig playing bass for a few years so I was happy with how it went. Quite a small playing area so I was very close to my amp, the kit and a Marshall half stack; ears a bit woolly afterwards! Does anyone use ear plugs on stage? Any you'd recommend? Still on a big high this morning, we're at The Bell in Bicester on Friday.
5.
Headlined the Wheatsheaf in Oxford on Friday night. Absolutely busting crowd who were well up for a bit of noise. Even made a couple of quid too . I was harangued by going back on a pledge to wear a My Little Pony T-shirt but other than that, NOISE!!!
I've still yet to catch you guys live Fred, anything coming up in Banbury soon?
6. Hi all - this is my first post on the forum despite sniffing around since joining up a few weeks ago. I joined a local well established rock covers band a couple of months ago, having not played with a band for a good few years (I've spent the last few years doing my acoustic singer-songwriter thing). Anyway, their bass player left, and I fancied getting back into it so here are - first gig this coming Saturday (at The Swan, Banbury)! Got to say I'm a little nervous, mainly about screwing up something in the 32 song set I've had to learn, but we're well drilled so, brain fade excepted, we should be ok... It's a great venue too, having seen many bands in there over the years I know it's a boozy, rowdy crowd. So - wish me luck!!
