We play this one in my band, its a great song if you can pull the bassline back behind the beat far enough and there's plenty of room for some tasty high speed fills at the end of sections. I think Jermaine Jackson played bass for the Jackson 5 but someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
John Robinson [Stonking drummer on hundreds of those Disco tunes , including the above mentioned]
Says that one of Louis Js greatest gifts....along with his feel for music.
Was to play right 'on it' But was relaxed.
And Quincy Jones said , 'The pair of them played right on it...'
'Not in front , not behind...' 'And thats what i want'
And i suppose if you listen to all Those MJ tunes...
They were very metronomic...but in a great way..with tons of feel , and technique , but relaxed.
And of course that was all down to the quality of those amazing players that Quincy Jones used.

Mr 'Thunder Thumbs' just about cleaned up in the 70's....

He used Nearly always his Jazz Bazz on the ABBA stuff...
Apart from the later days....
When a Musicman got an outing...
Garry -
Also check out the live Chic Cd...
Bonus interview tracks with Nile Rodgers and BE i think..
Right up to the night when he died...
I believe he collapsed during a number...
Got up and carried on playing..
Then finally went during th night.....
I think we should have our own Disco Section....
Another A++ for Freddie Washington..
One of my all time fav's..

Hey C..
Sorry about that...
It was just that i did have a 80's Ray with a Ebony board.
The guy i got it from had a fretless ebony board put on..
Then he had it fretted..
Wish i could find out who has it now?
I loved that Bass...
Good luck with the trade.
Garry -
How did it come across an ebony board..?
Just curious...
I thought Rays came with Maple or Rosewood Boards.
Garry -
Ah Mr Kennedy...
Stonking Player...
Fodera man for years..
How does the 4-94 compare with the 44-02? from the blurb on the website it looks like the US built stuff is of superior build quality but is it worth the price difference?
Cheers
Graham
Yes ...without a doubt...
But the Skylines are great value for the money.

Nash..
It really is worth getting to grips with Reaper...
Its right up there with the best of them for production work.
Infact it does a few things some of the biggy Daws cant manage.
And is a lot more stable , without all the bugs.
So dont be put off with the Cubase / protools/Logic snobbary..!
Good luck with it.
well i dont know how to use it even with the user guide.
Have you tried the on-line video tutorials at the web site...?
They are pretty good for getting you started.

T-Racks was/is great...
But if you are going to pay for the software....
Ozone is a well respected Piece of Kit..
All in one Mastering Package , with Pro results.
http://www.izotope.com/products/audio/ozone/
There is also a downloadable PDF ,
With a Fantastic Insight in Mastering ,
Well worth a look.
But at the end of the day , you still need a pair of ears
Cant beat a well experianced engineer.
i think the instruments is an ad-on. i want a program where you can write a drum pattern and use the sounds from cakewalk instruments
Like i said above , try the link above for Reaper...
Its just what you need , by the sound of it...FREE
You are asked to buy a licence for commercial use....
But its not a Demo , and does not time out.
So you can write as many Drum tracks as you want.Using Cakewalk Instruments.
Garry -
Not sure what you really mean...
But Cakewalk / Sonar is midi writing software..
Or it was when i was using it about 15 minutes ago....
What do you mean by Cakewalk Instruments..?
Do you have a Version of Cakewalk...?
Or the addon pack called ..Cakewalk Instruments?
If you are after a Midi/audio sequencer , and dont have Cakewalk/Sonar.
This is the best freebie out there.

I presume you have Audio software....
Or it's down to a Mastering house..
Garry -
You need some sort of mastering limiter.
Depends on your budget really.
But this link has a freebie...[other freebies to]
And a lot of music mags praise the Warm sounds from these plugs .
Nothing to loose....FREE..
Yeah then you could hoover up and practice whilst she's out gigging ...
Or clean up on the gig front..!
Garry -
If you could get a luthier to design a Bass that doubles as a Hoover....
You could be onto something big.

Was in a lift in a hotel in Edinburgh... [Early 90's]
with a couple of Musicians and....
A very pissed Sarah Ferguson and her minder...
She asked if we were having a have a drinks party...?
The Minder said 'You are going nowhere with these f*****g nob's '
She said ...'F*****g , oh yes i remember that..!'
I am sure it's off with head , now i have let that one out of the bag.
