    I should have spoken up earlier cos i am with you and definately think older fenders sound better than new ones :)

    I am suprised wateroftyne has not added his voice too in support of this proposition - maybe he is away on tour/holidays/etc?

    For myself I am not fortunate enough to have really early fenders but I do have them from late 60's onwards

    Certainly regarding precisions the earlier the better

    Regarding jazzes, I have a 69 and a 74 and the 69 is lighter and to me sounds better.

    Should add that you should also try some of the reissues - particularly the fullerton USA vintage re-issues and the USA custom shop basses.

    +1 - especially as this is korean made

    it might be easier for richard just to seel this bass and then buy a shortscale - should make some money for himself too by doing it this was as generally the short scales go for less money :)

    The two together will be ok - 2 x 8ohm cabs = 4 ohms - but obviously be careful about using the amp on full power bearing in mind the wattage of the cabs

    you only have 2 and 4 ohm settings

    do not under-estimate the importance of biasing - get it wrong and the valves will blow - also the amp has a built-in valve protection system that will also close the amp down if something is wrong - in this respect some amps can be very very sensitive and be forever closing down
