The Super Hornet has been a long time in the making…at least in Nick’s mind. Based on one very special FOXX Tone Machine in Nick’s collection, this pedal is a shop favorite when it comes to fuzz and anything octave. We took the basic building blocks of the vintage circuit, tweaked it, put a little bit of special sauce in the design by using NOS BC-107B transistors, and threw an added feature in the mix. You’ll notice that there is an octave toggle, like on the vintage units that these pedals are styled after…but, that’s not just a straight-forward on/off toggle. When the toggle is in STINGER mode, the momentary STINGER switch becomes active. You can simply stand on the momentary switch, to engage the OCTAVE for a lead run, then come off of the STINGER switch to return to normal fuzz, or even tap the switch, to flutter the octave on and off. This feature is absolutely awesome. When the toggle is in OCTAVE mode, the fuzz is permanently an OCTAVE fuzz, and the STINGER switch is NOT ACTIVE. The fuzz control goes from light fuzz with some clean, to raging wall of fuzz tones. The tone control is a wide sweep tone control. All in all, this pedal is a perfect addition to any guitar or BASS player’s tone arsenal. The OCTAVE even works in low fuzz settings!

    Specifications

    NOS BC-107B transistors!

Based on a classic rock machine!

Light fuzz to aggressive, wall of fuzz tones!

STINGER switch that allows for momentary octave when the fuzz is engaged!

    True Bypass

Uses a standard neg. center, 2.1mm power supply only!

  4. Gaz, just checked mine. I could also hear some bleed. I couldn't notice it on all settings and I've got the most recent one (v4?) But I think it's always there and part of the design.

When I raise the level to maximum, the "bleed" is about the same volume as my bypass tone. Not an issue for me but not a dead silence tremolo between the gaps.

Thanks for bringing it up though as I had only played mine once since getting it and it's actually awesome

  5. So I did like the budget Fulltone OCD clones, I had the Joyo Ultimate Drive but believe the Mosky Obsessive Overdrive and Mooer Hustle Drive are the same pedal.

I actually replaced my TC Mojo Mojo with a v1.3 Fulltone OCD and then I think I replaced that with my Joyo which I then sold to my guitarist. I was always a bit sketchy about the low end loss. Sometimes I thought there was none and sometimes I thought there was some, but I'm very picky in that dept.

I did love the Mojo Mojo, but the OCD/ultimate drive was just a bit more aggressive and exciting sounding.

The Mojo Mojo was thicker and sounds great low gain too.

I thought the one control hooker's green was just too compressed for me but I loved it for Motown tones.

I've heard that the Caline Pure Sky is great on bass and it's a Paul Cochrane Timmy clone.

Obviously these are all super budget pedals, increase the budget and there are loads more options.

    That should do the trick!

It's the thickest and chewiest phaser I ever owned and if you run a fuzz into it it will blow your mind. I was using alternately a Colorsound Bass Fuzz and a Colorsound Fuzz Box with it which were both great pairings

  7. I had one of these and the flint for a while. I loved them both and regret selling them.

I LOVED the saturation on the Deco, I think I've got a video I did of just the saturation side, if I can find it I'll upload it to YouTube for you.

In short, at low gain it fattens up the tone and adds a little compression. I believe if you step on both stomp switches at the same time you can actually access a 2 band EQ for it so I never noticed any loss of low end.

Sometimes it beat out the Hudson Broadcast and Smallsound/bigsound Mini I had at the time.

I enjoyed the Doubletracker too and could get chorus and flanger sounds as well as simple delays out of it.

I really loved the saturation on guitar too.

  8. I bought this new At the end of July and I've only used it a couple of times and it's yet to leave the house.

I was desperate to try an 8-string as I had grand designs on a power trio that isn't going to happen anytime soon and as I'm in no gigging bands at the moment this was a bit of a needless expense.

It's a very cool bass, sounds great and lots of tonal variation with the different pickup modes and of course it's an 8-string and sounds awesome because of it and had one of the best headstocks I've ever seen.

I've seen nicer finishing on the side of the headstock (it just looks a bit rough).

I'm looking for £SOLD posted in mainland UK.

Can be collected either from Rickmansworth, Herts or Chesham, Buckinghamshire. (On the metropolitan line if you're on the tube) for £420

I do drive and have no problem delivering in person a short distance. I also have the original box so happy to post but this one is kinda heavy and I'll only post fully insured so it might get pricy.

Trade-wise just shoot what you've got, worst I'll say is no but I don't have much requirement for amps.

  10. Hi everyone,

I recently started a YouTube channel and Instagram to log reviews of my pedal collection.

Yesterday I did a run through of my Jext Telez Dizzy Tone fuzz. This one is a limited edition pedalboard friendly version (status led, power input, smaller enclosure) and has an extended low end. Also it's significantly cheaper than the regular big-box version but admittedly it doesn't look as cool.

  11. I had one for a while and it's great. I'm pretty sure the fuzz circuit is a Superfuzz with a 2 band EQ. Couple that with a great foot-switchable octave down that tracked really well for me and a clean blend I couldn't really ask for any more from the pedal.

I shouldn't have sold it but I wanted to try out different things and as it's MXR I don't think I'd struggle to source a replacement in future.

  12. Hey everyone,

I've been dying for another Tonebender for ages and Macari's finally released one that's under £150 and I'm loving it. Low end is great, it's similar to the Russian big muff in alot of ways.

No led, only runs on batteries, input and output are on the right hand side and it's massive but it's a great "utility" fuzz on guitar and bass. I really love the visual tribute to the old B&M Champion Fuzz and I'm really taken with it.

I did a little demo on YouTube:

I'm gonna start doing some more demos shortly as I've got quite a collection and this is a fun project to work on. I think a fuzz shootout between this, my Death By Audio Fuzz War, Greer Super Hornet and Jext Telez Dizzy Tone would be sweet.
