This is a defretted (fretless) YAMAHA TRB6P from the first generation of the end of the 80's with one trussrod

The defretting work, paint removal and pickups installation have been done by Christian NOGUERA, a well known french luthier.

I'm only asking £899 GBP or €999 Euros including shipping to European countries !!!

State is very good with the usual light marks; trussrod and neck are perfect as the setup !

Specifications are as follow :

Body : burl maple with a three millimeters rosewood separation between the top and back with two marks of the GK pickup fitted once
Neck : neck-through maple with two reinforcement strips of mahogany

Pickups : CREL custom made stacked humbuckers with ebony covers crafted by Christian NOGUERA
Preamp : Yamaha original
Controls : general volume, blend for the magnetic pickups, blend for the piezos to magnetic pickups (which means you can run the piezos alone using the preamp), two positions switch for the piezos (normal + low cut), bass and treble.
Tuners : Yamaha/Gotoh (3 + 3)
Bridge : Yamaha original with piezo saddles
String spacing at bridge : 19 mm
Nut : bone
String spacing at nut : 9,5 mm
Knobs : metal gold
Scale : standard 34"
Hardware colour : gold
Colour : lightly waxed natural (excellent paint removal job made by Christian NOGUERA)
Year of production : end of the 80's first generation with one trussrod
Land of production : Japan
Serial number : unknown
Weight : 4,6 kg (very light for a TRB6P)
Action : 2,5 mm under the B string at 12th fret

Will come with the original brown case with blue lining.

Non smoking environment as usual.

Sounds very good with lots of mwah and the defretting job is very good (made by Christian NOGUERA just like the pickups installation and paint removal).

The bass has been fully set up professionally and has a new battery as well as a new set of Dean Markley SR2000 strings (27-127)

I'll make some better pictures in natural light later, as it looks way much better...

This is the all original Overwater Progress 4 strings first generation untouched with the "impossible to find" 2 filters preamp à la Wal.

And for those without the money for a Wal, this is an excellent opportunity to have that famous sound for a fraction of the usually asking price.

I'm only asking £899 GBP or €999 Euros including shipping to European countries !!!

State is very good with some usual light marks; frets and neck are perfect as the setup !

Specifications are as follow :

Body : walnut with a one centimeter thick separation between the two wings
Top : one centimeter thick zebrano with a one seven millimeters thick separation between the two wings
Neck : mahogany set neck
Fingerboard : (24 jumbo frets in very good shape without marks) rosewood (must have been varnished at the beginning)
Headstock : 2 + 2 shape
Pickups : Overwater original humbuckers
Preamp : Overwater original 2 filters à la Wal (very rare these days) with attack boost on the volume control and internal trimmers (see pictures)
Controls : volume (pull for attack), blend, neck filter and bridge filter plus XLR out
Tuners : Schaller (2 + 2)
Bridge : Overwater original with brass saddles
String spacing at bridge : 19 mm
Nut : looks like graphite
String spacing at nut : 10 mm
Knobs : Overwater original plastic (1 with a big ding and 1 reglued as it was splitted)
Scale : standard 34"
Hardware colour : chrome
Colour : high gloss quite thick varnish
Year of production : 1986
Land of production : England
Serial number : unknown
Weight : 4,6 kg
Action : 2 mm under the E string at 12th fret

Will come with a Rockbag soft case with a store brand on it.

Fully original and untouched which is also quite rare.

Non smoking environment as usual.

Sounds even better than a Wal certainly due to the better construction (I’ve owned a fretted and a fretless MK1).

The bass has been fully set up professionally and has a new battery as well as a new set of La Bella Super Steps strings (45-105).

I'll make some better pictures in natural light later, as these ones are from the previous owner and it looks way much better without dust and finger traces... ;-)

3. Traded my modified Yamaha BB5000A wide neck edition for his old Overwater 2 filters preamp 4 strings bass.

You can deal with Jens in confidence, everything was perfect.

Hi to Christoph at Bassculture where we met, who is someone who knows a lot about pickups and instruments !!!

Year of production : 90's
Serial number : unknown
Weight : 4,5 kg (quite light for a 5 strings bass)

Will come with a Music Store Deluxe high quality gigbag and an extra white pearl scratchplate.

Non smoking environment.

So, what's the story behind this modified Yamaha BB5000A : the previous owner wanted a more balanced instrument and certainly liked the Stingray look too. He decided to transform the headstock to this 3 + 2 tuners solution and lighten the whole thing by reshaping it. He also removed the out of use original pickups and electronics (quite usual) and put these Bartolini's and this very transparent Glockenklang preamp instead.

The bass has been fitted with a new battery and a new set of strings (Dean Markley SR2000). There has been some work done on the headstock (recessed and relocated tuners with alder top and back reglued and reangled) as well as a new paint job to accomodate the neck. This has been done by master luthier Christophe LEDUC, but like I asked, not too shiny new looking.

Professional setup and fret dressing made by Christophe LEDUC on the same occasion.

At the end, you get a very well balanced (better than the original) that sounds terrific with an original pleasant look, if you like the colour, which is absolutely not my case...

Ultra low action : 2 mm under the B string at 12th fret !!!

Trade wise, I'm only looking for equivalent price basses, but would prefer cash, so make your proposals (4, 5 or 6 strings; fretless, fretted; 33", 34", 35", 36" scale).

5. We just met yesterday in Brussels, which meant travelling for the both of us.

Russ got back the De Gier Elevation 6 Custom he owned some time ago and I received this amazing Croatian Aries Senes VS 6.

It was a real pleasure to meet the man in person and talk for a little moment, hum, hum, only close to 2 hours... Tempus fugit, that's right.

I'll recommend Russ, you can deal with him, he is a trusty guy.

And did you find Marcolini's place, by the way ?

Hope to meet you once again, and this time, in an octopus's garden. ;-)

Enjoy the bass !!!
