I ended up joining on the 11th May ... 2015, like @Lozz196 to sell a bass, as I never was a forum guy, so never wanted to register, but it looks like I've become one, at least here, for some reason.
Great forum I must admit.

Nope as the paper will certainly stick and remain partially on the strings. 😉
An old T-shirt is perfect.

Bonjour.
Je suis intéressé,
Il est toujours disponible ???
C'est un forum anglais où l'anglais est la langue à utiliser, me semble-t-il, non... ?

In fact, they sound like the Thomastik JF, without the high price tag and their super smooth touch, and with more tension, of course.

BTW, my first Wal cost me £50 (not a typo), when I bought it second-hand, as the guy selling it loathed it with a passion!
It made my day! 😂

Thanks. I’m unfamiliar with cleaning new strings, come to think of it I never clean my strings at all, though I do always wash my hands before playing.
Can I pretty much use any isopropyl alcohol (IPA) for this? I may have some in the shed, will check when home. I guess you just apply with a soft paper towel or similar? Also I suppose there are packs of IPA wipes out there too.
I see there are actual guitar string wipes such as Ernie Ball Wonder Wipes. Are these worth getting? Thanks
Yes, isopropyl alcohol will work, but beware with nitrocellulosic paint as it will damage it.
It's better to wipe the strings with a cotton cloth as paper will certainly leave some residues, especially on round wounds.
There are packs of alcohol wipes, certainly what the Ernie Balls are, but they are always more expensive than the usual bottle and cloth.

You know you could be banned for having showed this...
Nice work, that said and I like some Béla Fleck from time to time. 😉

Sounds very promising, except with the Full Circle...
The electric bass sounds good too through this amp.
Following this with great interest.

Just in case, here is the link to the user manual: https://www.tascam.eu/en/docs/CD-BT2_Manual.pdf

For those wanting a graphite neck at a silly price, here is a 26 frets Moses Jazz Bass neck and you can even get a whole bass including an original Kahler tremolo for ... 500 Euros.

A funny anecdote:
As, back then, nobody wanted a Wal anymore, I traded my MkI fretless for a fretted Trace Elliot T-Bass (excellent bass) and I should have kept it, I mean the Trace Elliot, not the Wal even if they are highly overpriced these days.

You can also add Acacia (I owned one) and David King (I owned two) basses.

The newer versions put out in more recent years are hard to find as well.
Indeed, but it's not up to the quality of sound of an original and I've owned each and every model (fretted, fretless, 4 and 5 in all iterations) along the years. 😉

That said, the original Ibanez Affirma (AFR) designed by the late Rolph Spuler is becoming rarer these days.

Considering how popular they were at the time you really don't see many original 80's Charvel, Jackson or Kramer PJ basses for sale. Someone must be hoarding them all!
Or turned them into firewood.

I truly think intonating the G string will be a problem with modern strings that are far better crafted nowadays than when it was designed, and especially with todays round wound strings.
It was designed to take into account the poorly made flat wound strings of that period...

Ooops! It is smaller than I expected...
Yep, and it's often the case with everything as these items seem to be reviewed by small people for that reason, to make you think they are bigger than expected. 😉
Enjoy your new toy. 😊

There was a fretless Atlansia for sale on here not long ago, was tempted...
The Kleins do appear from time to time, and each time, I want to buy one, but don't.

I wanted a Zon Sonus but as they never come up for sale ended up with a Legacy instead. Lovely bass but just not scratched the itch…
The Zon Hyperbass is on my wanted list...
I tried a brand new one around 30 years ago and I really liked it, but not its price tag...
