1.
Hi all

I will be purchasing a new bass in November/December time and was wondering which places (in the East Midlands/South Yorkshire area) I will need to check out. I already know about Electromusic in Doncaster but I would like to visit a few shops to try out as many basses as I can. I live in Lincoln and anywhere within a couple of hours drive would be fine.

I am (almost certainly) buying a Stingray, but I could be tempted with other options as and when I see/try them.

    Many thanks

    Rick
Electro music is probably one of the better shops in S.Yorks, though its a little bit of a hit and miss in my opinion to whether they will have a stingray in stock. Sound Control at Manor Top in Sheffield have quite a good stock from what ive seen and always a musicman, though Electro is the better shop and in a far pleasanter area, i certainly wouldn't waste any time between getting from the car and the shop in manor top :S

  2. Ill admit this has aught my curiosity, though im a little put off by the £20 tickets, has anyone been to one of these before and are they worth the money?

  3. Hi, i dont know if anyone will be able to help with this but i though i would ask. Ive just been looking through bassdirect's website and one bass caught my attention, a Windmill Malin 5. Unfortunately this is the one bass where the picture will not enlarge so does anyone happen to have any more pictures of the bass.

This is the page where i saw it:

    http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...tars_Stock.html

    and here's the small preview:

Thank you in advance for any help.

  4. Hi for sale is my MIM Fender Jazz in white. The bass is in good condition, there are no dings or scratches aside from one scratch on the back, other than that the bass is flawless. I was going to do the bass up a little change the pickups etc, however im just about to start my degree and i could do with a few things before the course so seen as i dont need the bass im going to part with it. Im looking for £225 for the bass including postage.

  5. Hi, i havnt compared the two directly so im going to copy kev's reply to the same question if thats ok:

'the mullard is a lower gain sound than the EH, sounds far better than the EH imo, bottom end is very well defined, and its not as sparkly as the EH is, which is definatly a plus from me. the valve just has more character and every note rings crystal clear basically the best way i can describe the difference is that the EH just sounds 'cheap' next to the mullard. turning up the gain it goes into a valve distortion quite nicely, thats how im currently using it now, but i dont really need that sound, hence the sale

  6. To be honest i dont know, id make the same assumption as like you say it states it on the front, hopefully kev is paying attention to the thread and if he wouldn't mind will answer it

    Thanks
    Sean

  7.
less than a month? i owned it for 2 :)

and i sold it because 1: i needed money and 2: i prefer solid state tone at the moment
Thanks to kev for filling in the answers, bump

  8.
what's this guys?

where is this great piece of equipment failing you? Just curious as Bassmankev was completely in love with it on one of the reviews and shifted it in less than a month....

Any clips available? Say on a Passive P with drive and just EQ'd....
Hi, if you go to http://www.davehallamps.co.uk/Sound.html and listen to the bass clips you'll hear what the pedal sounds like, there may not be the EQ1 but the pedal is the same as those there with the additional EQ control.

I cant remember kevs reason for getting rid of the pedal, though i can see why he was in love it, i think its in his listing.

The reason im selling is im doing a part ex for a fafner which has a great EQ and a tube drive function. While the drive on the pedal may be superior i cant justify going into debt for it when i could make do with the fafner's drive function.

    Hope this helps

  9. Hi, ive had this for about a week having bought it from bassmankev, but ive just found out i have a little less in my bank than i thought and must sell this to go towards a part ex on a EBS Fafner.

I agree totally with what kev has said about the pedal, it is a brilliant pedal but im rather against the prospect of going into debt.

Here is kevs original listing and review (if he doesn't mind me using them)

    Listing:
    http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...mp;#entry261537

    Review:
    http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=21764

The pedal is in absolute mint condition. As i have only had it a week and only had a chance to use it once (due to a neighbor on nights) im asking for the same as i paid £110 shipped. This includes both the Mullard and Electro Harmonix Tubes.

  10.
Mine will have a dark top but its still being made! I'm not sure half built basses count :)
If the top is in the first half they certainly do

  11. ok, thanks again, how much would the work you previously stated cost then to have done and can you say in detail what has to be done, i think ill keep the topic here, after five hours the ive received the suggestion to use a electro harmonix hum debugger so that was a little let down from what i was expecting.

Thank you for all the advice thus far

  12. having looked through the forums on hiss and hum is there any chance the old tubes (16 years old) could be causing the hum/hiss, i was considering some mullards or telefunks anyhow so will be replacing them at some point but would like this clarified first please
