ive just started few weeks ago on how to pop and slap the bass, ive mastered the right technique i think anyway at least, sound right and looks right only on the top string though i ent tryed doing orther strings yet until i get even better, problem is though, ive been playing bass now with fingers for over 2 months and only recently has my finger finally startedmto stand up to the 2/4 hours per day of a pounding i give them, but one of my fingers has started busting up again now ive started the popping, its the finger i pop the string with, keeps getting skinned, not sure weather thats cause im doing it wrong or cause my skin on the fingers ent strong enough yet i dont know but as of above sounds right
is there anything you can buy to give your fingers some rest bite or een any tips on how to make the skin on my fingers go rock hard?
Hi, i had this when i started, its perfectly normal as when you pop your using the side of your finger primarily as apposed to the center which you use when finger picking, it will harden up in time like when you started. As for a quick fix, surgical spirit. Not something ive done myself as id rather my finger hardened naturally, but thats just me and its perfectly fine, put some in a cup or dish and let your fingers rest in it for about 10-20 minutes while watching TV and you finger tips will harden rapidly.
Hope this helps

Hi, the Infinity gets a great slapping tone in my opinion, howerver it isnt a style i play often and i dont know really how best to describe it.
This said if you goto http://www.bassplayer.tv/ click 'artist features' and look for 'Norwood Fisher' he plays an Infinity, so that should give you a great demonstration of the sound.
Hope this helps

Hi, i have a warwick flight case if your interested that would fit your bass
Hey lets keep it short. Im looking for a hard case for my 88 warwick thumb bass. Im not sure where to look. Ive tried but cant find anything. Anyone able to point me in the right direction??
-
Hi, thank, Jon says he'l be emailing me some sketches for the shape tonight, but im were basing it around carl thompson basses so itl be something along those lines however tweaked a little as to be a little more original.
For the pickups we originally thought a EMG TW at the neck and a EMG DC at the bridge so thats why its says DC/TW though im now thinking of two TWs so both have the toggle between humbucking and single coil.
Should also be recieving some pictures of the woods tops aswell tonigh fingures crossed
Sean
Edit; also theres to be a EMG phase invert switch to be installed
Nice looking spec there Sean!
Intrigued by the scroll shape, you got any ideas or sketches yet?
Also, are you just having the one pickup?
Looking forward to this one developing...
Cheers,

Hi, selling my Edirol FA-101 as it is yet again more unused technology which i could be selling to fund my Shuker custom build. Selling for £200 any questions please ask
Sean -
Hi, dont know if anyones interested in this topic, but after talking with Jon Shuker on monday now have a rough idea of the specs for the bass;
34" scale
26 frets
38.5mm nut width
21.5mm deep at first fret
26mm at 12th (possibly carved thinner)
19mm string spacing at bridge (std 4 string)
7 piece laminated neck, wenge / paduak?
ebony board (african, macassar, asian striped)
two way truss rod
carbon fibre reinforcement
brass nut
head veneer matching top
gotoh tuners
white side dots
jumbo frets
no f/board face dots
scroll body shape
black walnut body
kingwood / moon ebony drop top?
Inlay in top above f/board 'area' - mop
polyester basecoat
satin topcoat
kahler trem
black hardware
acg preamp (passive tone)
neutrik locking jack
flip top battery box
stereo output
EMG DC / TW
The main things to still be decided are the areas marked with question marks and im also debating the roland built in midi pickup.

FIXED; Probably Blown David Eden VT.40
in Repairs and Technical
Posted · Edited by Sean.Robinson
Hi, ive just received the david eden vt.40 i bought from america. After waiting a month for payment to clear and it to arrive i ran to set it up and play about with it and in this rush i foolishly forgot that it was still wired for 115 volts. After doing this the light on the front lit for a second and then nothing and it was then i realized :S . I realize i may just be posting my stupidity with this thread and accept the sniggers that come with it but is there anyway to possibly fix it?
