Cheers for the tips, all the wires are soldered, no connectors to mess about with. All the connections seem fine. It's wired in series (i think). There's a crossover on the backplate for the horn, then the wires run first to the broken speaker, then on to the one that's working ok. So signal is definitely getting through the broken speaker. It's just not having any of it... As far as I could tell it moved just as easily as the driver that still works. Any suggestions as to where to get hold of a peavey driver? Is it best to go direct to peavey?

Seems that way eh? I just don't get why it'd start off intermittently doing it and now this...

Yep, we've exchanged cases, got my new setup fitting snugly into the warwick bag, perfect fit and no problems at all. Hope the ABS case does the trick, any problems give me a shout

Well, it's been a good and bad week, bought Gwilym's V-type and PPA300, this is a good thing. However, plugged it in to my peavey cabs which I haven't used since my last gig. The 15 sounds fine but the 210 isn't working properly, which is a bad thing. One of the speakers works fine, the other one does nothing when I'm playing high up but when I hit the low notes it seems to be sympathetically vibrating. The sound is a mixture of scratchy white noise and the sound when you unplug your bass when the amp's on. Not the hum, but the loud crackle kind of thing.

I've been having problems with this cab since I let a support band use my rig back in May. The bassist left the stage with effects on and her bass resting up against my amp feeding back. Not really the done thing with someone else's equipment... When I set up to play there was no sound at all coming out of the 210. So I played the gig with just my 15. Got home, plugged in and nothing, then really dug in and the note seemed to shock my 210 back to life. The next day it didn't work so I thought there was a loose connection, took it apart and everything looked fine. Plugged it in after that and it worked. It's been fine since then, gigged with it a few times and been playing at home with no problems until yesterday.

My AH600 and the PPA300 have 2 separate power amps each so I've tried it with both of them them, changing the speaker cables around (made by OBBM) all to no avail.

Noticed earlier today that when playing with just the 15, the dodgy speaker on the 210 is making the same noise but quieter, it's not even plugged in.

I took the cab apart yesterday and it seemed fine, everything's connected, the dodgy speaker looks no different to the other one, tried moving the speaker and it doesn't feel rough and isn't snagging through its travel, which I have heard is what happens when they overheat and get knackered...

So, anyone had a similar problem? Any idea what to do?

I've got a 3U ABS full depth rack case. Bought it from Flightcasewarehouse for £48 i think (will check), realised it was too deep for my trace and haven't used it. Has sat in my room for a few months, mint condition and comes with screws...

How rigid is the rackbag? If all goes well this weekend then I may be up for a swap/px. I'd have to bring my gear and see if it fits if that's ok? Maybe just rest it on top...

I don't know all that much about it, I'll second Jake's recommendation of funkifying the clave, and also check out Bobby Valentin - Rey Dej Bajo, awesome album! Also, lots of Groove Collective stuff has a lot of latin influences and a great bass player in Jon Maron. Check out these tracks - Que te pasa'ti, Tito, Mambo Mongo, Loisaida, sabrosona... That's all I can think of at the moment... Hope these are of some use!

Well, fair enough... Each to their own and all that, I stick by what I said about fretless being able to do anything fretted bass can do plus a bit extra, but if you're really sure you want to fret it (or sell it) then it's your call.

What can't you do on a fretless that you can on a fretted?

Keep it fretless, put the effort in and you'll love it! I've had my fretless about a year and a half now, using it for 3 of the 6 bands I'm playing in. It's amazing, does everything a fretted bass can do and is so much more expressive. Go on, give it another chance

Good price, and that little recording thing is awesome, got one myself for practices/jams etc, invaluable!

My fretless has a wenge/wenge neck/f board and a seymour duncan (i think?) pre. sounds lovely, growly but smooth

Went down there to get my fretless sorted out last week, haven't played through these but lifted the 2x10 and 2x15 and they're ridiculously light. One hand lift each.

I've only seen and played one of these. My old housemate has one. Sounds great live and in the studio and felt really nice to play. Active circuit worked as expected. Good build quality. Looks nice too.

Congrats! You won't be disappointed. I've got a fretless Zoot bitsa with swamp ash body (according to Mike it's a John Giblin signature model prototype body!) and a wenge neck. Sounds amazing, plays beautifully. Let us know how yours is

I sold one of those cabs on here for £230 and thought I was letting it go cheap... Truly awesome (albeit very heavy) cab.

Greg Curbow made them out of luthite originally, then cort started making cheaper versions of them I think. I imagine all of them from cort onwards have been made in the same place. Not sure where Carvins are involved?

Are all these copies of the curbow?

My old housemate had one of those Jazz 24s. Beatiful bass, great tone, great variety with the electronics, felt lovely. Sounds sweet live and in the studio. All round good bass.

Looks like a Kramer from the 80s.
