Very helpful as always. Thanks 🙂

I've got the UE6s on EBS Freaks recommendation, and can't speak highly enough of them. Whilst they have buckets of headroom, they've been awesome during lockdown for general music listening too (gigs are where it's at though!). I had the Shure 535s before and the UE6s were a massive step up, worth the investment. Good luck whichever route you go!

  2. Sterling by Musicman Ray 34 in black with a white pearl scratch plate. Fantastic bass with a very powerful and flexible active 3 band eq. Recently professionally setup and restrung with Rotosound swing bass strings, with new 9v battery installed.

Additionally included items: Gator hardcase that has been used about half a dozen times, hipshot D tuner BT7 installed with original tuner included, Dunlop strap locks, and black pearl scratch plate pictured. Guitar stand not included.

Condition is used, but very good; some light marks here and there as you'd expect, but no major dings. Selling as I have a custom bass being built and it's one in one out (actually 2 out on this occasion!), and as such no trades thank you.

Collection (with optional socially distanced brew!) / meet up is much preferred, but I can arrange a courier at cost as the hard case is included.

Let me know if you'd like any further photos or have any questions.

    Many thanks,

    Rick

  3. I had to come up with a very short notice solution when the venue we turned up to play didn't have enough aux channels.

I used an Alto zmx52 mixer that we keep for emergencies, took a signal from my bass into one channel, and ran a spare overhead mic into another channel. The overhead was placed on the other side of the stage between drummer and guitarist and pointing to the singers, and worked surprisingly well. I ran my Iem's on a 2 quid headphone extension cable from the Alto mixer as I'd already lent the drummer my behringer P2 for the night.

I also dabbled with a stereo mix that night as a result, and now I'm itching to delve further into that, but with "proper" aux channels!

The mixer was about 50 quid, and the condenser is a Thomann own brand I believe, in the region of 25 quid. That plus an xlr and you've a very compact and I think affordable option where the ideal aux setup isn't available, as I'd happily use it again.

The one caveat I'd add is that I don't sing in this band, so the vocals were lower in the mix naturally as they weren't directly input to my mixer, but I would have them that way anyway.

    Hope this helps.

  4. I believe the charming Mr Fuzztube is relatively new here, so starting a feedback thread for him, pleasingly on an entirely positive note.

James bought a Sansamp Flyrig from me last week - excellent comms throughout and a pleasure to deal with, deal in confidence.

    Welcome to Basschat James!

  5. Hi all, sorry if this is answered elsewhere...

I currently have the HX stomp, and a smooth audio wireless. I'm looking to add the morningstar midi pedal and a small Di box, and am interested in people's views on both a suitable Di box, ideally under £100, and views on best options to power the whole board?

    Many thanks,

    Rick

  6. Excellent piece of kit, bought from new when they were first released and it's been an absolute work horse since. Condition is as expected, good to excellent with just the odd nick as its been rackmounted most of its life. Comes with original tin, however I'm not sure if the power supply is the original... It works perfectly and might well be the original, I just can't recall!

Any questions let me know, but happy to post at cost or arrange to meet / collect.

    Thanks,

    Rick

  7. **Price drop as I've seen something I would like!!**

And so yet again, my 4 yearly process of thinking I can play a 5 string, buying a 5 string and realising I can't has concluded it's current cycle.

The victim this time was this lovely Sire V7 bought new from Anderton's in 2018. It's seen 3 gigs, and about as many rehearsals, alongside some home playing. It's a lovely bass especially for the price, you've probably seen all the reviews online if you're reading this anyway. Selling simply as I cannot get my head around 5 strings, as much as I want to!

All the flexibility you could want sound wise, with the 18v active circuitry and very usable eq.

The only point to call out is that there is little buckle rash on the rear of the bass, and a little mark by the input jack. Both of which are nearly invisible when playing as the pictures should show - the close ups look far worse than the reality. Rest of the bass is in great condition.

Happy to arrange collection / meet up / courier (if absolutely essential, though I'd sooner avoid), and any questions / additional photos please let me know. Comes with original box, for what it's worth!

Not really looking for trades, and all set for basses (unless you have a musicman special charcoal sparkle!!), but happy to listen to other offers you may have.

    Thanks,

    Rick

  8. Good condition bass cab with more kapow than the price suggests. A couple of light nicks in the covering but only very small, and purely cosmetic. The horn is a tad noisy at when it's on full, but certainly not noticeable when playing with a band. Could be that a lot of horns are like that - I always switched it off so I'm not sure!

Happy to courier at cost, UK mainland looks to be about £20 with lashings of bubble wrap etc. Collection / local drop off is fine too.

Any questions give me a shout.

    Thanks,

    Rick

  9. We're moving to hiring an external PA company for gigs now so I'm selling some equipment.

These two mics have been used on their own, and also together which makes for a phenomenal thwack!

Both in great condition, with very minor marks. Audix has the mic clip it came with, and both have original protective cases and boxes.

    Inidivdual prices are:

SOLD PENDING THE USUAL Audix D6: £145 plus postage

STILL AVAILABLE Sennheiser e901: £175 plus postage

Any questions let me know, and I'll add some pictures shortly.

Trades wise, I'm not after much at the moment but by all means make a trade offer if you have one.

    Thanks,

    Rick

There's a number of things at play - the actual sound of the IEM - not all IEMs have the same sound signature - but the reason I push the UE6 over the UE5, is the extra headroom that the UE6 will offer over the UE5. The UE5 will sound slightly tighter due to the use of balanced armatures over dynamic drivers... but the UE6 gives you the headroom comparable to a quad balanced armature (UE11 - quad balanced armature), at approximately 350 quid less.

It depends what sort of budget you want to spend... and as I always say, don't put anything in your ears that you don't want to pay the money for... as it can be agonising to drop down to budget having heard up the range!

edit - headroom, particularly in the bass, means less chance of distortion (even if not audible - it’s less tiring for your ears)

Definitely agree with the price point piece. The ue 6s are probably as much as I can go to but at least there's still a couple of options then.

In terms of headroom, I did wonder if I have my setup right... I run the aux out at around - 6db, and each of the channels is at unity or less, but then on the Sennheiser pack I'm running the output at about 25%, and that is still quite loud. The sound in that setup has been excellent, but when I see all the posts about additional headroom (noting your point around distortion) I wondered if I'm running everything correctly?

  11. I'll see you there on the Sunday, ticket bought! I've just sold my 535s to make the move to custom based on your tips so thanks! Spoke with a chap at CIEM who suggested he thinks I might prefer the ue 5s over the 6s, but will try on the day, alongside any other you guys think might be suited. Really looking forward to it.

  12. Hi all,

For sale are a pair of used but excellent condition Shure 535 headphones. These have served me exceptionally well for 2 years and around 50 gigs, and were it not for moving to custom IEMs I would have happily used these for a long time to come; the sound is terrific and they are perfectly comfortable.

Comes with the headphone tips, some of which are used but clean, but also several sets of unused brand new tips that I bought in addition to the originals.

The wire is in perfect condition too, and all comes with a protective case and the original boxing (which itself is slightly tatty).

Postage is included in the price and you are of course welcome to try before you buy in person if you'd prefer.

I'll post pictures in the next few days.

    Any questions let me know.

    Many thanks,

    Rick

  13. Spoke with a chap at Custom IEMs yesterday, and going to meet them at the Northern Drum Show for a proper discussion, but after I said I'd be interested to try the UE6s, he suggested I may well prefer the UE6s (knowing I was a bass player), which are a bit cheaper so I liked his honesty! Excited to try the different options and will definitely keep the LUGS in mind, Robert seems a top chap!

    Thanks for the pointers!
