1. My GB has now become part of my sound. I find once the band start up you wouldnt know i was using it.
I do find i switch my amp off during breaks anyway so i dont get any thuds but then as my bass is active i always unplug the transmitter as well.
Im now going to get another for my other band. for £99 i find its fantastic not having a lead hanging down my leg.
Great for sound checking from out front as well. Im the only one in my band that can sit at the bar during sound checks.

2.
B&Q do velcro strips, you know both sides, so you attach one to the cab, and the diametrically opposed opposite (compositionally speaking of course) on the amp. That way you won't ruin the carpet covering on the cab.

I use it for holding various bit and bobs inside my rack and they don't move about at all.

Comes in various lengths and widths, get at least inch and a half wide, more if you can.

Thats a good idea but the MB heads have feet on them so i dont think it would work unless i took the feet off.

Thanks anyway.

3.
I don't mind buying from the Bass centre. I've bought my whole rig from them too, and while it hasn't been the quickest delivery, it doesn't take THAT long.

I think people should be more patient sometimes......although it can be annoying if you REALLY need the stuff straight away.
Same here. I live near the BS and i used to pop in a lot but i have made the mistake of ordering from them a few times and i must say, they have never delivered on time.
Whether its the suppliers or not (and i have a feeling it is) i have always got a delivery date from them and they have always missed it.
I dont mind if they say two weeks or two days but i expect to get the goods in that time. I have a lot of organising to do as i dont drive so i have to get friends etc to run me around, i have even had to get cabs at my expense because of this.

Saying all that, to their credit they have lent me gear on these occasions once i have made a fuss but again, i still have to organise transport and in these cases twice. That's why i paid £45 more for my LMII this week as i had to get one and wasnt going to order from the BS even though they are cheaper.

4. Nice one funkmunky.

Ok, here a question for LMK/LMII owners and maybe SA450 owners as well.

when doing bigger gigs with PA support do you set your LMII's DI to pre EQ?
I do with my SA450 but then it has a switch that makes it easier.
Im just wondering if its worth me changing the jumper over in the LMII and leaving it like that.

The thing is i know sound guys like as clean a sginal as possible and dont like you to mess with the sound that thay receive but after a few big gigs last year where i was DI'ed from my SA450 i didnt like the full range sound i was getting. This isnt down to the amp, just the way my sound was mixed and im thinking it would be nice to have the VLE in the loop to cut down on some of the top end that I hate and sound guys try and bring out.

Im not wanting to get in to a debate about PA's DI's etc, just wondering who does what at a gig.

5.
I to have 1 of these units and while the sound is excellent, if you are going to be running around stage like a nutter you might want to get something else, the amount of times the battery compartment has flown apart, or the bug it's self has decided to jump out of my guitar.

Cheers
Agreed.
I ended up using one of the small Velcro pads stuck on my bass near the jack socket. No problems any more.
I also use a small rubber band around the transmitter to stop the battery cover coming off.

6. Ive been using a AKG GuitarBug for about a year now and it works great with my Lakland 55-01. Even low B sounds clear.
There is a tone change from using a cable but its not noticeable at gigs and i have EQ to help if i need it.
The lows are boosted a bit and also the top end but thats correctable with EQ.
I can say that ive never had a drop out or interference with it in almost 50 gigs but i dont wander too far from the stage.
I did notice recently when i had my ear close up to the tweeter in my cab that there is extra hiss but again, i have not heard it from a standing position. Also this was when i was trying out my GK head with the highs turned up a bit.
The only downside i can see is that its only one channel and i have had to turn it off at two gigs otherwise it clashed with the DJ's mic.

And all for £99

7.
Yep a laptop bag is the go IMHO. Fits snug & has room for leads!!!!!!
I didn't mean it had MORE EQ options than the SA450.... I thought it was same- My mistake- I get muddled up & hadn't even seen a SA450 for a while-lead a pretty 'sheltered life down here!!!!!;-) Didn't realize the SA450 had semi-para.mids!!!! tch tch-sorry!
No problem
yeah, the SA450 was the one i went for last year. Thought it would help tame my 1210 cab.
As it is i find i dont need the extra Mid control much with any cab. I just use the filters more like most people.

8. Homer
Yes i remember that, i almost got one for my Sa450 but looking at that i know i wouldn't get much gear in it.
I have a radio system as well.
So far i can get it all in either a small rucksack or a laptop bag and its easier to put on my shoulder.

9. rod
I tried a laptop bag last night and its a good idea as they seem to have a bit more padding than a rucksack.
Not sure i agree about the LMII being more adjustable considering its got a cut down EQ section but each to his own.

10. Chris
I was going to get the smaller MB bag untill i found out the price. I have a nice padded laptop bag i can use or a few rucksacks not being used.
Funny enough i have only just recently found a really nice tone on the Sa450 by backing the high mids off. I wont be able to do that with the LMII but like you say, there is always compromises.
I really only went for the LMII as it's cheaper than another SA450. Size and weight isnt really a factor for me.
The only thing i hate about having a LMII is the balanced input wil never, ever be used and i see it as a waste but thats just me.

Im playing a few Haven holiday camps next month and i need quite a powerful rig as we might not have full PA support. You usually mic up if you need to and then run your desk in to the house system but last time we played one we only put the vocals through it. That gig i had my GK and UL115. This time ill have the SA450 and my 4ohms UL212 so im sure what i lack in amp power ill make up for in cab loudness.
Its these gigs that have made me upgrade this rig but i have no regrets (other than the UL212 not working properly at the moment)

11. Well i just got a LMII. couldn't justify the SD800 (nor could i afford it this week) but needed to get something for this weekends gig.
so the GK is up for sale now.
Im hoping it will sound good with my 1210 on Sat. With this band i dont need a lot of power and ive still got more than i have ever needed. just hope i dont miss the extra mid control of the SA450.
Although i tended to run the EQ more or less flat i do use a bit of low mid boost sometimes around 100hz, wont be able to do that now but i guess i can swap it with the SA450 if i need to.

12. metaltime
Ill let you know if i stop using the bag again.
Ive just got my LMII so it means i dont have to worry about carrying the SA450 around with me.
I used it the other night and i guess for the SA450 its perfect and it didnt move at all. As i dont need to carry it around now im not too worried about the vent holes and i found i could get all my gear in the pocket by leaving a few unused things out.
Just need to make sure the LMII doesnt move around on my 1210 now but i have a feeling it wont as the cab is heavier than my UL cabs and my Sa450 has never moved on that one.

Thanks again all for the suggestions.

13.
+1 for that!

Before I purchased my MB heads I shopped about and The Gallery said they would match The BC price absolutely no qualms...

I informed The BC of this and they said they'd undercut The Gallery, Oh what a jolly time we had trying to get to a final price!
I have spoken to Alex but he wont match the BC. He has come down a bit though and i think ill go over there tomorrow as it would be handy to have it this coming weekend. Im just reluctant to spend almost as much on the LMII as my SA450 cost.

As for my amps moving. I dont have this problem with my 1210 cab as its quite heavy but when i use either of the UL cabs the SA450 moves so much that i have to move it back in to place almost after every song. That was one of the reasons i got the GK. Not had a problem with that. I guess i might start using the MB bag for my SA450 but recently i have been using a rucksack to transport it and all my gear in. I only want to carry one bag as normally ill have a suit bag and my bass so the rucksack is better than the MB bag. The small MB bag wont hold all my gear though. If i get the matt then im sure i wont need the MB bag.

14.
Why don't you like the MB bags - I have my LMII in one and find it to be a great answer to you problem, puls a good transportation solution too. My wireless can sit on top of it and voila!
I have brought this up before but unlike the small MB bag the large one has vents in it at either end. this is to allow the amp to be used in the bag but it also lets in rain etc so for me its no good. when its on my back the vents are pointing up and offers no protection from the elements. I have my SA450 in a small ruck sack and i can get all i need in to as well.
But as i said in my first post i would rather not Velcro anything to the cab. Saying that, i have just realised that ill be using the LMII with my 1210 and i dont get the vibration that i do with the lighter cabs so maybe i wont need a case anyway.

Thanks

15. Well the first reply didnt dissapoint. i was expecting a nail gun at least. Cheers.
Im not too precious about the cab but i found that with my MB bag for my SA450 the velcro wears out the covering quite quickly
so wanted to avoid sticking anything to the cab.
One of the reasons i gotmy GK head was because its heavier and that also helps the cab stay put.
I guess i might get a small rack case for it but it seems a shame as the LMII is so small and i dont have anything esle to go in it.

16. Guys
Im going to get a LMII within the next few days and im worried that being so light it will fall off my cab.
My SA450 bounces around but i have put it back in the MB case that has Velcro on it and that will stop it moving
but i really don't like these bags so i wont get one for the LMII. I also don't like using Velcro as it messes up the cab covering.
I don't use a rack as all i have is the amp and my wireless receiver.
so, any ideas how to keep the amp in place that doesn't involve nailing it down.
Even my UL115 moves around on stage. bloody lightweight gear;-)

Cheers.

17.
I am sure any Mark bass head will be great

best of luck

p.s. i vote go stupid and get the SD800 you no you want it
I do want it and im willing to get in to debt over it but i have read posts where its not clear how well it works at a gig.
A couple of people have said it lacks throw at a gig even though it sounds fine on its own.
im waiting for Ken Jung's views over on TB to see what he thinks. Its a lovely amp on its own but its at a gig that it needs to count and £950 is a big mistake if its wrong. plus i have never needed that amount of power and never will but its the amount of headroom and speed that's attracting me.
Im sure a LMII will do.

18.
sorry i just cudnt help myself
As it happens im now thinking a LMII is good enough for what i need.
Or i might get stupid and get a SD800

19.
I bought Warwickhunts sa450
Yeah, i was going to get that this week if it was still going.
Good luck with it.

20.
I've now got the Markbass LMK that was Warwickhunt's and I'm very impressed. My main amp for years was a SWR Bass 350, which is very transparent in comparison. I'll back up the other comments made so far - with everything set flat, the Markbass has a more 'flavoured' or 'coloured' sound than anything else I have tried. IMHO it is very musical and nothing you can't tweak if you don't like it - I have yet to try it in a band setting so will be interested to see how much tweaking is required when the time comes. Bear in mind I'm using a Schroeder cab - which further complicates things as it is biased in it's own way.

The most amazing thing is the size and weight (tiny) vs. volume and tone (huge)...

Edited to add - great playing by the way!
Jimbo

I use my SA450 with a 1210 cab and at first i didn't like it too much. It was ok and did the job but i felt the mids were over powering. Thats the reason i got the SA450 over the LMII so i could tame them. As it happens i rarely touch the mids now, the two filters do all i need.
We played a rock set recently at a wedding and the bass sounded very good. My drummer said it sounded more like my GK 1001RBII than my GK 1001RBII.
Generally though i find it just does the job. Its loud to the point that i can drown the band out if needed (i dont) and out front the lows seem to bloom a bit and the mids die off and it sounds smoother than it does close up. I dont go for a specific sound as much as just something that fits the song. With the 1210 i cant seem to get that many different tones no matter what head i use but what it does, it does well IMHO

Im probably going to get a LMII this week and keep the SA450 for use with my UL212 (once its fixed). After over a year i feel the mid controls aren't needed on the SA450 as much as i thought they would be. I have a gig tomorrow night that ill use my SA450 in LMII mode to see how i get on.

21.
I may have missed something here, but why do you have to pay anything at all to get this sorted? surely all shipping costs should be picked up by the manufacturer on a brand new cab. I would no way pay a bean.

This sucks, I feel for you. Can't help thinking that a Markbass 1*12 cab would have done it for you all along.
you are probably right but i have asked both parties and they said i would have to pay the shipping, albeit one way.
While i dont think its fair im not going to waste time arguing with them. If i can get it fixed quickly for £30 im happy.

The way i see it is if you can get it back to the shop, they can send it off. I ordered from a store in Italy so i have to get it back to them.
If thats not the case then maybe ill try and get the money back but ill see what happen over the next week or so.

Ill email woodandtronics tomorrow and ask about the shipping cost.

I will be using my UL115 for the next two gigs and im quite looking forward to it. I was going to use the UL212 with just the one driver and im sure that would work well but because i dont drive it takes a bit of arranging to get my gear home and then back to gigs so ill leave the UL212 at work where i can put the driver in and then swap it over with the UL115.
