  1. Had a hunt but couldn't find this answered elsewhere - what (paid-for or otherwise) plug-ins do you swear by?

I'm a big fan of Sausage Fattener, can work miracles in the mix.

Do you have any go-to plug-ins you always use, or anything interesting worth checking out?

    (FWIW running Live8 / Mac)

...and what about Warwicks? well seeing as I can't find anywhere in the UK to try them-how does that work as a marketing strategy? I love their old stuff but have no idea on their new kit.

It's a pretty arrogant strategy from Warwick. Jack up the pricing and force dealers to buy outright? Was genuinely up for buying a new one but didn't want to plunge straight in without at least trying something current.

GAK in Brighton are meant to be a flagship importer / dealer, but they can't risk carrying the £3-4k guitars as unsold stock, so don't carry any.

  3. Cheers all. Yeah I've been slapping for years and thought I've got the wrist 'roll' down, no movement past the elbow.

I've recently increased the amount though, maybe just doing too much too soon, possibly not relaxing enough (ironic as like many of us I play to unwind after a day at work).

JTUK completely agree on height - obviously practice a lot sat down, and when standing, the bass sits about 2inches lower.

  4. Been honing in on slap technique recently, and started getting aches and 'flashes' down outside of arm / along top of right shoulder (I'm right handed).

Conscious every practice session is not doing it any favours, but being the belligerant sod, don't really want to scale back.

Aside from the usual 'playing' warm ups, can anyone recommend any worthwhile 'non-instrument' stretching that has worked for them?

(any good online resources out there?)

  5. Hi all. Searching for a luthier recommendation I came across this great looking forum.
I've been playing for 20 odd years, recently rekindled as I bought my first J bass (why did I wait so long?!). Mainly studio stuff but starting to gig again.
Hoping this forum can help with my continual learning, and I'm sure it will fuel my GAS.
