Although the album was released in 1979,
this track didn't hit the UK charts until 1980.
    Does that count?
Narada Michael Walden (Killer Bass line and tricky to nail).
02:50, there is a breakdown of just Bass and Drums, and the Bass
    really jumps out

    Ahhhhh lowdown thank you !!!

This is a bass line I often play when jamming around but could not for the life of me recall who it was or where I'd heard it...... Thank you !

  2. Beedster, your bang on, its a size issue.... Nothing more. To most people it wouldnt be an issue as its small enough and not too heavy, you can carry it with one hand... But i struggle with arthritis and need every advantage i can get.
My initial thought was that i deffo dont use this rig to its potential, that in itself is a crime ! Secondly, i have Never used the cab, i dont think i would need to..... I did initially think id sell and go for something lightweight likethe tc rh 750 combo but i just know it as good as it is it wouldnt be a patch on this mesa gear.....if be setting myself up for disapointment with most anything else.
So, conclusion drew, get the mesa 12 scout.... Put the rest of the cash with the bass sale ive got on the go and so on so on.... I do like the sound of 12's but the 15's are epic for depth warmth and punchy fullness ...

I walk with crutches most of the time now mso size weight is an issue.......

Cant stress how good these things are..... Dont think anything comes close.....

"Mesa's WalkAbout Scout blends timeless, bottomy tone with contemporary innovations that save weight. Though it's no bigger than some practice amps, it's a serious piece of gear that's capable of satisfying the discerning professional. If size matters to you, do yourself a favor and take the Scout for a walk."
Jonathan Herrera - Bass Player Magazine

Note, these are both the 4ohm big boys not the half pint 8ohm versions.... :) a serious bit of kit.

  4. NOW SOLD - deposit paid

Can't tell you how long and hard I've thought about this one, the moment has grabbed me so here it is....
    I will likely regret this....

    For sale:

    MESA WALK ABOUT SCOUT 300w 15" combo (4ohm) 28kg

    And

MESA WALK ABOUT SCOUT 15" extension Cab (4ohm) 19kg

The condition of these is as new with only one very small mark on the tolex bottom from of combo.
The ext cabinet is literally like brand new, I have never had need to use it.
The combo has seen very little use, mostly the house and the studio.

The sound from this rig is insane. I don't say that lightly. The combo on its own is mega loud and can cover pretty much any bass response required. The parametric eq will help you to dial out the unwanted noises the worst room can throw at you. Fat and warm is just gorgeous sounding but the slap sound is epic too. What ever your need, this amp will deliver it.

Both 4 ohm, running perfectly fine at 2ohm together. Both 15" cabs are just solid sounding, fully adjustable horns and both to with the scout down firing speaker as well.

These are like new, they will do what ever you want, you can't use the handy split down to cover any gigging requirement taking either just the combo or both.... And of course the walkabout design allows you to,quickly remove the head from the combo, making versitility second to none. They are not at all heavy with the combo weighing 28kg and the ext cab weighing only 19kg. Single hand lift easy.

Both come with covers, the combo has the more heavy duty padded cover with pocket for cables etc in....

    Collection from Runcorn.

I will regret this, I know but I'm looking to down size as I'm mostly doing studio stuff these days now....

EDIT: Would trade for walk about scout 12"

  5. Bbwwwaaa ha ha ha ahhaaa!!!!!!

Dave I'm glad I'm not the only one hahahahahah.....

Your phone call sounds priceless mate .... Really made me laugh out loud as I can relate all too well !!!!

She understands they come and go, and likely with the addition of £100 or so each time, I've explained that I've done this since I was around 15 years old and now that I'm nearly 40 this is how I've got to the dizzy heights of owning expensive instruments.... But still, you'd think I shelled out £1500 every time ! Hahaha

Trips to the guitar shop are always met with a frown as she knows to write off the entire afternoon..... But these things are as much social as business..... Women! They should stick to buying handbags or candles or what ever it is they need ! :)

(Shhhh! I think she heard me! Quick, to the shed !!!!)

  6. Great to see others have done it too :)

I had to do quite a bit with the set up, obviously due to the higher tension and pull on the neck.... But a good adjustment on the truss and a fairly large drop in saddle heights has made for a lovely low action which is just effortless to play, not to mention silky smooth and squeak free.
I like the sound, I get the typical, flat sound....warm and full with fingers but Gita say, I love the old school vibe on slap tone, it's really got a unique sound.
That said, this bass did sound great with rounds on and I'm torn as at tonight's rehearsal (house) I just didn't quite have the deep punch I usually get, it was obviously dulled a little..... Im Hoping next weeks studio rehearsal with allow some eq'ing and volume to work this out.....

I've never tried low tension flats , just d'addario.... .?

  7. Hahaha new territory for me tonight..... A welcomed birthday present of a set of flats gave opportunity to do something id just never considered before...... Flats.... On my MM Sterling !

Ok dont laugh, its hardly insane or likley undone by any means, but ive just always used flats on my passive fender jazz bass, never on my active MM ? Why would i ? It works so well with rW strings and gives that classic MM punch?

Ive strung it, tuned it, will let it settle before making some set up adjustments tomorrow and then plugging in to see how they sound....

Im like a kid in s sweet shop and cant wait...
As i say, ive just never wver considered the set up of the mm with flats, it seems absurd ! Hahah

Anyone else use them on a mm ? I lnow its likely done far and wide but id jyst always put them with the fender jazz for that sound leaving my punchy round wound sound with the mm :)

  8. Ive tried it loads, its just falls to peices! I can do it effortlessly when playing guitar (rhythm that is) so it must be the left hand part of bass playing.... I will set out to practice one song and REALLY focus to see if i can overcome this mental/ physical block!

Studio, we have lots if great bv's that i just cant do live !

  9. Read this topic with interest.......

I can sing well enough , i can play guitar and sing well too...... But I can't for the life of me play bass and sing !!!!
I have a great admiration for anyone who can ???
I can play bass well, I can sing well, but if I try to do the two things at the same time it all falls on its arse big time ! Hahaha

Any tips here are welcomed ? Any particular approaching to practice such as particular songs that the voc melody follows the bass ? Dunno, any advice welcomed !

  10. stI'll up for grabs...... Just put some better pics up...... Any marks you may see are just camera blurs/ poor photography etc.... The only mark is the little one illustrated in the photo ...

Restrung with brand new di addario balanced tension 45/105......

Had another play on it after rest ringing, the growl from the bridge pick up,with it being in 70's position is just wicked.....

Genuinely may decide to keep this if it doesn't move soon :)

  11. For sale : Boss ME50B multi effect pedal

Great pedal in great condition...... Include power supply.....

    Does just about everything....... :)

  12. I'm going to regret this one I know it........

For sale: Fender USA Vintage 70's Jazz Hot Rod

Further and final PRICE DROP £1050 for a stunning bass! That's CS quality for less than American (bog) standard money!!!!!

3 tone sunburst , rosewood fret board with period inlays..... Build quality on this USA made bass is exceptional. Sounds just incredible with the Jazz pick up set far back to the high mass bridge and the p pups , can't tell you how good they sound with the tone rolled off.....I'm not sure I'd ever find a better fender and genuinely fear selling it for this reason.... You know, the one you should never have sold and all that....

It has never left the house and has just one tiny mark little bigger than a pin head on the back of the upper curve. (Out of sight) other than this tiny mark, it is as brand new.

Comes with vintage leather case and all the case candy.
Would prefer a collection from Runcorn/ Merseyside but could do courier if pressed.....
