1. I reckon I'd be up for a nice white Jazz (like the one fleamail is selling on here, only (hopefully) cheaper), but I'm unsure as to it's exact model name/number designation.

Can anyone tell me what it is that I crave?

And what kind of financial damage do y'all reckon I'd be looking at?

End of questions, for now.

2.
Hi, just a bit of tyre kicking here, what ohm ratings are the cabs? Do you get the full 400w through them?
Each cab is 4 ohms, so when both are used together you get the full 400w.
If just one cab is used the head puts out 250w.

Cheers.

I can never work out why anyone would want to actually buy straplocks when this method is, as far as I can see and in my own experience, foolproof.

The only downside is that you have to drink Grolsch - unless you know a barman. :)
Can't go wrong with the Glolsch straplocks.
The 500ml bottles cost about £1.50 in my local corner shop, so £3 gets you a set of straplocks and nearly 2 pints of drinky.

I got a set of schallers years ago, but don't use them as the Grolsch ones are top.
There's an old ashdown advert with Pino playing a sunburst fender, and what straplocks is he using?
Here's a clue: Glug Glug Buurrrp!

It's not just the rubber seals that you can recycle as well... glass

4. I saw them at the NIA on the 5th and I thought the performance was a little lacklustre, even though the songs were good.

Sting's bass sound seemed to get buried under Copeland & Summers' playing, which is a shame as it looked pretty good.

Sting's son's band were pretty naff. Can anyone say nepotism?

5. Good work BigRedX!

Looks like I'll be shelving the idea of getting one of these then, for the time being anyway.

I'm surprised no-one on here has one actually, given the amount of lusting after trick kit that we all succumb to.

Never mind.
Thanks for the replies dudes!

6.
The "Tribute" thing works thus;
HARDWARE from USA. Assembled in Korea (IIRC) Almost exactly the same theory as Lakland "Skyline" models. Prices are invariably lower, and the last tribute 2000 I saw had a 3-piece ash body that was not at all well matched in terms of grain or colour for a naturally finished item.
The woodwork on the USA G&Ls is generally much better, at least on the natural/transluscent finishes.
I got a new Tribute L2500 in natural off the bass centre website for £400 + £10 P&P. It has a 2 piece body that is nicely matched, and is generally kick-ass.
I don't know if they've got any in at the moment though...

7. One of these was reviewed in the Feb '05 edition of Bass Player (bridge), but the company's website doesn't seem to be working.

Does anyone know if these things are still available?

Thanks.

8. The Behringer 'Ultrabass BX3000T' and 'BA410' cab were reviewed in the April '05 edition of Bass Player. The head seemed to garner a lot of praise from them.

They do have a massive range of bass gear Behringer bass, including a 2500W stereo bass amp for £430 (RRP)!!.

I suspect there is a lot of gear snobbery involved when it comes to Behringer stuff, but at least its ubiquity should mean it's easy for you to locate some and give it a try. If you like the sound and think the construction is alright, you could get some real power for not much cash.

9. Is £250 the going rate for these?

I'm sure I've seen them going cheaper on the 'bay. Even though this is a nice looking one...
