Whoa, they changed the Thumb SC shown on the website to one without a maple inlay!

Much prefer this. I guess their feedback was similar. -
Laklands are made from good bits of wood. Should hopefully look something like this:-

I'll bet you could sand that all off and wipe in an oil finish like on a Warwick.
That's what I would do, anyway...
As for the pup covers, you could try scotch-brite pads on those. The paint might come off very easily. -
hey,
i am considering trading in my current 5er (fender 24V jazz) as the neck is wayy to wide for my liking, 1.8/1.9mm i think
my school's bass teacher let me try his bass, a G&L US L-2500, he said it had 1.6 spacing and i could feel it cos i was flying all over that neck haha. But i do think that bass is a bit out of my price range.
Does anyone know of any other 5 strings, ABSOLUTE max price limit £1000, with a similar narrow neck? around 1.6mm?
thanks,
James
Here are two ideas:-
Ibanez SR505 at around £350 s/h
Warwick BO Thumb 5 at around £700 s/h
Cheers- -
I have a US P5. Was always a Fender skeptic, but the 2009 models with the new bridges and tuners are great.
The neck is really nice to play. -
"Or even an improvement"
Heh. -
This guy was looking for a White Streamer last month. A Spector might be close enough...

I've got a year's worth of bookings for short one-man gigs in my office/bass toyroom for the next year.
Alas, work gets in the way of bands.... -
My Suggestion? Don't bother.
You should be able to sell it here in the UK, even if Warwicks aren't selling easily in the UK at the moment.
Once January is over people will start spending again! -
I don't have a problem with Adam Clayton, or with Warwick's occasional foray into daft shapes, but I really think that Warwick overall need to consolidate their range and bring their pricing back down to earth.
Having said that, though Warwicks seem to be struggling in this country due to a shift in taste towards traditional designs, I guess they must still be doing well in Asia and the US. -
l, I heard that 08-09 models were awful?
Quite the opposite, in my opinion. My Am Std is very well put together. Plus these now have better bridges and lighter tuners. -
That's a great take on the Jazz design. The "RIM bass style" elements blend in really well. Very successful.

I've found the CV Squiers I've tried to be nicer than MIM models.
-
The body and the MM headstock clash very badly on this. Not a fan.
Anyone think we should have a BC Cool Wall?
Knowing BC I can already see how that would work out.
Uncool: Warwick, Spector
Cool: Fender, Musicman
Sub Zero: Celinder, Sadowsky

Underrated - Mick Quinn of Supergrass - comes up with simple but memorable stuff. Actually, the entire band is underrated in my opinion.
Overrated - Slap bass.
P.S. Wooten is a seriously talented musician, but his tunes don't do much for me. -
Alot of new Squier Stuff is better than the current MIM output in my opinion.
They should badge the Asian stuff as Standard Fenders and switch the Squier decal to Mexico..... -
My 2009 Am Std P5 is really well made. The current crop of Americans with the new bridges and tuners are really good - they should be future classics. I'll likely be holding onto mine.

Hi, do you have a price for a cash sale?

The current fashion for vintage designs must be having an effect, I guess.
I wonder if the pendulum will swing back in the next decade? Will we see skinny guys in indie bands playing Warwicks and Statii? -
I'm the guy wot bought Niceguyhomer's P5.
A cracking bass.
