  1. Picked it up for £1299 at guitarguitar.

    my previous basses were

Ibanez Talman 310 with Fender Yosemite precision pup

Squier Pete Wentz with Dimarzio Willpower pickup

Squier Affinity with a 70’s Dimarzio pickup.

always had cheaper basses with upgrades, was expecting only a small difference in tone as I had decent pickups before but it’s chalk and cheese.

  2. Decided to sell all my cheap gear and invest in a full on American Music Man.

Always liked P basses most. So many songs I love have that P bass sound.

Taking it to band practice tomorrow but so far I’m very impressed.

    seriously well made instrument.

Everything fits together so perfectly and feels so sturdy.
I’ve had fun with my Squires over the years but this is definitely a good upgrade.

  3. I was looking for a bass overdrive for my board and happened upon Rupert at Bax shop.

He was nicely priced so I thought I’d take a punt.

They normally sell for just under $200.

Lounsberry mostly make pedals for Hammond Organs ( who knew that Hammond organs used pedals!!! They make one called the Organ Grinder 😂).

They made this inspired by the bass tone at a King Crimson concert and it is based on the Nigel. ( a guitar pedal they make).

i put it on my board to an inauspicious start after my Fender Downtown Express preamp in the chain and it sounded awful.

Moving it before the Preamp pedal and Boom! There it was.

Big, thick bottom end and oodles of grit.

It can do a more subtle thickening right through to more dirt than I’ll ever use.

I’ve got the level maxed and the drive about 9 o’clock on my board. This gives a real thickening and a really pleasing growl.

This is now an almost always on pedal as I love the tone but there are a couple of songs my band play that I switch it off for to play cleaner.

    My somewhat unusual chain is:

wireless receiver - Rupert - Mooer Bass Thunderball - Fender Downtown Express - Mooer Pitch Box (for the detune chorusy effect) - Mooer Noise Gate - Hughes and Kettering Tubemeister 5 guitar amp DI to mixing desk.

I try to turn it back on ASAP though as it’s puts a real smile on my face.

It certainly delivers the classic King Crimson bass tone and is perfect for my rocky take on the covers my band play.

The pedal is really sturdy with chunky Les Paul style knobs.

Inside the pedal is very tidily made and they make a point of through mounting components rather than surface mounting.

It can use a 9v battery (included with mine) or a centre negative power supply.

It could certainly take a battering, well made metal case and very solid build quality.

It looks quite Victorian with its olde worlde graphics.

Overall it’s a quirky and unusual alternative to the usual suspects if you fancy having a sound nobody else will have.

Near $200 Price tag means it’s not for everyone’s budget but  it’s cheaper than a Darkglass.

Highly recommended by me if you fancy some more unusual dirt.

This is the only bass pedal Lounsberry make but it’s a corker.

  4. A friend has a Traben bass, 35” scale length, overall 48” length.

it has a slightly pointy top and bottom end, like my Traben pictured below. (Mine is 34” scale so no bother)

the issue is, most gig bags only just fit, and the pointy bits soon wear holes in the bag.

Has anyone got any suggestions for gig bags that will be suitable?

  5. I play in a pub covers band.

The rest of the band pride themselves in playing more unusual songs other bands don’t play.

I’m more of the opinion we’re there to give the punters what they want which is undoubtedly the usual suspects.

its an interesting debate but I think there’s a balance to be had.

My band tend to turn their noses up if I suggest anything too popular!

We do quite a few already mentioned though!

I am glad that you're mum is ok but how are you?...

Have you had any therapy or counseling since viewing the horrific events that were being aired on that hospital's television?...

You are probably well within your rights to claim compensation for being subjected to such atrocities.

    I appreciate the concern!

As I have to deal with guitarists on a regular basis I have coping mechanisms in place so was able to deal with the trauma.

I do feel a helpline number should have been provided by the broadcaster for those people less able to deal with the shock.

  7. I had to take my mum to casualty (she’s ok, needed a couple of stitches)

they had it on in the waiting room.

if I was at home I could have turned over.

possibly the worst thing I have ever in my life been made to watch. Worse than Barney the dinosaur, and he is used to torture prisoners by the CIA.

the only saving grace was that had I chosen to gouge out my own eyes at least I was already in hospital.

  8. Sire Marcus Miller.

Absolutely cannot recommend my V3 enough.

Bought it for a try and instantly became my go to gigging bass.

the whole ethos behind the brand was to make good quality basses for beginners and they certainly nailed it.
