The usual suspects:

Sennheiser MD421
Electrovoice RE20
Shure SM7B
Heil PR40

None are cheap though!

I have an EV RE20 for mic'ing my cab and a Heil PR40 for vocals

Both are brilliant !

What I really really want is a great, original, powerful metal band....BUT with a singer who actually sings....not a grunt/screamer. Don't have to be all operatic, cos that gets on my nerves too, but Hetfield style, even some Anselmo stuff is great, but enough with the wierd noises!!!!

You don't like operatic and you like Maiden? Sorry, just seems strange to me

Vouchers sent to those who were offered them, only 2 1/2 years late! :(

ubit, we don't ask customers for full payment until their cab is in production, so if someone has chosen to pay the full amount up front it is not the norm, hence the mistake, sorry.

Absolutely no problem Alex, you were a perfect gentleman right through the process ;)

4. Sorry, I didn't mean I was bothered by the wait. Alex told me right at the start that it would be a while, so I was not at all bothered by that. I just wanted to let the op know how long it took.
No, my only gripe, and it was a tiny little gripe, was the fact that I was asked to pay again . This was very quickly settled with absolutely no hassle, so it wasn't really that much of a gripe. In fact I'm wondering why I even mentioned it.

I'll get my coat

5. I waited over 5 months, paid for it right away and then got an invoice for payment just before delivery. A little peeved about that side of the business, but when it arrived, it was well worth it.
It's a super twin and quite simply the best sounding cab I've ever had !

The Duke Of Wellington once said: "I don't know how many grains of sand one needs to make a heap, but I know a heap when I see one."

It was obvious (to me, anyway) that he was a troll from his very first post.

Why the quality of the writing or apparent "clever"-ness should enter into it is a complete mystery to me. Are you suggesting that only semi-literate morons can be trolls?
Not at all mate, it's just that in my, perhaps, limited experience of trolls, they are usually much more obvious in their condemnation of something. I thought some of his arguments had weight. It wasn't like he was being abusive towards Ric users, just the guitars. He did indeed , create chaos in his wake, so I suppose job done.
As I say, my experience of trolls is usually someone who gives abuse just to get a reaction, which usually tends to be someone of limited intelligence, because why would rational people do this?
Maybe I'm just too sheltered. :)

7. I too, was a bit put out by the title of this thread. It certainly reads like we, the ones that are left are uninteresting and worthless. I'm sure it wasn't meant that way, but maybe more thought should have been given before posting.
If a seasoned veteran wants to leave then let them, it don't change my life and just because someone is a newbie, doesn't mean they are automatically a beginner who knows nothing about bass or who has nothing of interest to say.
I myself only joined recently, but I've been playing for upwards of 35 years!

Asking questions educates us and, once you know the answer, you can help someone else out with their question in turn.

I'm not a betting man, but I'd happily wager that you know far more about bass 'stuff' today than you did when you joined two years ago. :)

Nice one !

9. Right, I've spent ages reading through this whole thread. Forgive me if I've missed something obvious, but how did everyone know he was American?
Also, I couldn't see anything offensive in his remarks. Ok, a bit ott in his stance, but not offensive or even belligerent. Was he banned purely for sending abusive personal messages?

10. Few places in the states support live music? Wow! That's one helluva statement!

I find it hard to believe this chap is a troll, because his posts are written quite well or semi normal. Then again, maybe he's a clever troll, who balances these wild statements with half truths.

I hate picking on someone just because they have posted something controversial, but .........let's be honest, some of the statements are pretty wild!

11. It's a bit annoying when seasoned members criticise someone for posting about something that may have been talked about many times in the past. Short of trawling through every thread to check, how are newer members to know, it's been talked about?

Forums need new blood and if someone wants to ask which strings you prefer, I will partake in that discussion because they are looking for feedback. I'm not going to tell them to go and look at such and such a thread because it's all been done before.

Let's have more understanding that not everyone knows what's been posted before :)

12. I have 14 basses, but when I'm gigging, I always seem to go for my American std Jazz. I just love the feel, the sound, the weight, everything is perfect, at least for my tastes anyway. I think they just got it right.

13. I have loads of these in my "music room" but mine are into plasterboard, so different type of fixings, but as said, as long as you go long and bite into the brick, you will be ok. They are incredibly strong and will hold your pride and joy safely without fear of disaster

Edit, there's loads of really good quality plasterboard fixings on the market that are very strong. I used the metal screw in ones. Avoid the plastic ones.
