Mine was an Encore P Bass copy. I think it was £120 and I got it when I was 13. It looked awesome. Natural finish with tort pick guard. It was ok for about a year but I soon got bored of it.

I would 100% recommend the G&L L2000. I've had mine a year and I'm still finding new tones to mess about with. The necks are sweet and you'll have no problem cutting through with one. If the US models are out of budget then the Tribute is as good IMO.

I came stupidly close to splashing out on one of these yesterday. I was in Music Ground in Leeds for ages. I will get one at some point but I just cant justify the £1000 price tag at the moment. Hopefully a few second hand ones will pop up over the next 6 months or so?

Pete McCullaugh from Streetlight Manifesto is an awsome bass player. The band formed in 2001 so they qualify His bass lines are so fast but still totally smooth.

I've played a Stingray for years. I spent my last installment of student loan on it just before I graduated uni in 1999 It's been my main bass for ages but I found an awesome looking G&L L2000 on ebay last year and that's been my weapon of choice ever since. I would like an ASAT too but I've promised myself a Jazz bass before I get anything else.
