^ or Adagio Flats... I have a few basses with em on
I've used these, they're decent enough for cheap flats. I have a set on a backup bass

Slight thread hijack, but it's kinda relevant...
I have a Harley Benton Bass VI and I'm thinking of trying it with Baritone tuning (A to A, ideally).
Can anyone recommend strings that'll fit? The Ernie Ball Baritone strings (presumably made to fit their own 4+2 headstock) look a smidge short on the highest strong at 100cm long

I'm wearing it now.
That's quite believable given what you've posted in this thread already 😅

As a side issue I remember Kerrang did a competition to win one of Nikki's Theatre of Pain outfits. Oddly the competition was in a about 1991, years after the Theatre tour.
I wonder where that is?

What do we think it's worth?
Obvs, The value of a damaged Hamer + The value of a very cool item of Crue memorabilia.
So £1000 + £5000 = £6000
Any advance on that?

I bought an ELF as a backup to my Orange Terror, tried it in rehearsal and haven't used my Orange since. I play in a moderately loud surf band.
Have done two gigs with it, including on a 'medium festival' sized stage with it DIed to the PA.

The Pretenders are a bit of a revelation for me.
I'd onky ever heard their Christmas singke and Brass in Pocket and assumed they were a sort of middle of the road AOR band, but this awesome.
Me too. I'll be delving a little deeper into their back catalogue

A cynic might suggest the concert feels more like a tribute to how versitle and great Dave Grohl is.

Does anyone have or could point me in the direction of a template for a Hofner Shorty Bass body?
I'm planning on cutting down an old Encore short scale P-bass to create a travel/emergency bass and think a Hofner Shorty shape is a decent place to start.
Cheers

Stereo Jack fitted wired Ring 'n Sleeve instead of Tip 'n Sleeve?..
I'm not sure it can be that, assuming any amplifier input would be a mono jack input it wouldn't have a connection to the amp.
Edit: I'd guess a regular mono cable shorts between the tip and ground connection, but by using a stereo cable the "short" connection is touching the ring and not shorting the tip to ground.
A new jack socket would sort it, though it might be that the existing one has bent a bit.

Exactly what I was going to say. The BF is just a lot less “coloured” in comparison to the 410 so it’s a case of getting there with eq.
Me too 😂. One of the deciding factors for me getting a BF Super was so the PA/DI feed was comparable to the cab sound.

I'm in a 100% instrumental band - we don't even do instrumental versions of "vocal" songs.
It's tough at times, but if punters go with the concept the gigs can be marvelous.
Shameless plug ..

As finding strings might be a challenge I'd suggest you put a reverse headstock on it so the E and A strings have more chance of being into the tapered part before reaching the tuning peg.

Many thanks @James Nadaand @Maude. That was what I was hoping. I will take some tension off the strings but not so much that I mess up the intonation: I actually payed a luthier to set this one up as I have struggled with floating bridges in the past.
If you're concerned with the bridge moving you could always put some masking tape on the body by the bridge and mark it's exact position before you start slackening the strings.

...if I unscrew the strap button to replace it, is the string tension going to pull the tailpiece off the body, or are those two screws enough to hold it?
The screws are there to hold the tailpiece anchor in position -the load of the anchor is on the end of the instrument, not the screws themselves.
So I'd think removing it will be fine. You could always take the a lot of tension off the strings as a precaution.

The trailer looks worrying 😞, but I live in hope that the episodes will be as good as Steve Jones' autobiography.
Danny Boyle's involvement is a another beacon of hope.

Thanks for the tip off, very useful

Seems like in pre-internet era that question would be difficult to answer in full, even for a major Crue-head. I wonder if someone from the show just sold it.
I'd also love to know if it's still out there. Hopefully a fan did actually win it.
