1. I had this as a gift a few weeks ago, and I used it once for a gig. It worked flawlessly, but I'm not really a wireless guy, so don't see me using it much in the future. It is very cool pedal format, and can switch between regular wireless and tuner and also be configured to boost when the footswitch is pressed. The tiny transmitter has tons of battery power and only went down a couple notches during a two hour gig. It recharges on the pedal itself. Very sturdily built and in as-new condition with the box and all original pieces. See here for specs: https://www.nuxaudio.com/b8.html Price includes shipping anywhere in the UK.
2. This has been a fun pedal but haven't used it for a while. The MXR Bass Auto Q from Jim Dunlop is an auto-wah/envelope filter based on the sound of the Cry Baby pedal, this one designed specifically for bass guitar. The Bass Auto Q features adjustable sensitivity and blendable LFO signal. It triggers at any playing level, not just on your loudest notes. The Auto Q's effects are amplitude independent, so you get exactly the same effects at high volume or low. Come out front with your solo then drop back for a rhythm fill your tone mods stay constant throughout. No box or power supply, great cosmetic condition, just a couple small chips on the base plate as pictured - the top is perfect. Price includes shipping to mainland UK.
3. Here we have my Bergantino B Amp. I have owned this for around 5 years, and it has been used in a couple of live projects and has been fantastic. One of the most neutral sounding SS amps you will find. If you are looking you know what this is and what it can do. Has the onboard progammable digital effects - compressor, fuzz and distortion. Insanely loud through my Barefaced Supertwin. I am only offloading this as I go DI with IEMs these days and it is not getting used. I take very good care of all my equipment and although this has been gigged it is in like new condition cosmetically and of course sonically it performs flawlessly. Included are the Bergantino B Amp carry bag (valued at £55) and the bluetooth USB dongle (valued at £45) needed to use the Airturn pedal for switching between tone memories. Latest firmware is loaded. I would prefer pick up in East London but will post, well packed, and insure at the buyers expense.
4. A totally underrated bass. I have a 4 and a 5er. Equal to any high end boutique bass out there. Good luck!
5. Brilliant buyer, no hassles, great communication - as good as it gets. Thanks Andy!
6. I have three brand new sets of DR Black Beauties for sale, standard 4 string set. I love these strings and they are one of few that nicely fit my Peavey Cirrus 35in. Fine for 34in scale also of course. Free shipping to mainland Uk included. Discount for 2 or 3 sets. Cheers and Happy New Year.
7. Reluctantly for sale is my amazing 1963 Ampeg B15N. I bought this in the USA in 2005 from its original owner, who at that point was elderly and hadn't used it for many years. It was working but needed a full service. I had the speaker replaced, and all the caps replaced, and the 'death cap' mod to a three lead mains plug done. The tubes are the original Ampeg/Sylvania tubes and all of them measured within range so none were replaced. As you can imagine this amp sounds amazing with that rich ooey gooey Ampeg tube goodness you only find on these vintage combos. As you can see from the pictures it is in pretty good original and unmolested condition. I chose not to repair the small tolex tears, thinking it was better to keep it as original as possible. There is no dolly. the handle on the top is a non standard replacement from some time in the past. It retains the weird octal plug for the speaker connection that was used for a year or two around 1963. Everything about this dates it correctly to mid 63. Serial number and circuit diagram are correct, and the pots all date to late 62/early 63. Ampeg used the Random Navy Flair until early 63 then switched to the Blue Diamond during the year. It is still a 117V head. I use it with a step-down transformer and all works perfectly. You can buy a 240V power transformer from Fliptops in the US if that bothers you, but as I said I preferred to keep it as original as possible. Comes with a cover, which is a little tatty on the corners. These days I gig mostly pubs, so this will probably never see another live gig with me, although I did gig it several times when I lived in the USA, in smaller settings. Of course it mics up beautifully for FoH if necessary. I also have an early 60's SB12 and can't really justify them both right now, since neither are really being used. Regarding the pricing - I have priced it high since I am not desperate to sell, and to be quite honest if y'all think the price is too high and it doesn't sell then I am OK with that. The price is the only thing that might lessen the inevitable sellers remorse I will feel if and when she goes. I have looked online and these are getting harder and harder to find and no doubt prices will go up over time. I saw a later 1966 B15 today on Reverb for £3600 which I think is a bit steep, but hey, someone will buy it. Collection only I am afraid, based in London but may meet within a reasonable distance.
8. Ampeg SCR-DI Bass DI with scrambler overdrive. I gigged with this to provide a DI to FoH when I used my trusty B15N, but use a different rig with built in DI nowadays. Perfect working order, and good cosmetic condition, with just two small dings to the edge of the metal casing, as pictured. Free tracked shipping/insurance to mainland UK included.
9. I asked a genuine question about the status of your sale. WTF?
10. I did think about this, but they are expensive and do take away some more originality. It would be the way to go if the power pot ever gave up.
11. I've been using a large 500W step down transformer for both and its been fine thus far, doesn't even get hot. I'm really on the fence about selling the B15 for the very reason you state - every time I turn it on I smile.
12. So, I just moved back to London after 20 years in the US, where I acquired a 1963 Ampeg B15N and a 1965 Ampeg SB12, both original but both updated to new caps, and three wire power leads for safety. They are still 110V, but work fine here with a step-down transformer. I don't gig anymore so want to sell one of these to make some room. I used to use the SB12 for small coffee room/lounge gigs where it was plenty loud enough and with that classic Ampeg tube tone. The B15N was used on a few studio sessions and a handful of larger gigs where I split to a DI for house, but needed some stage volume. My main rig is a B-Amp with Barefaced ST12. Anyways, I am torn which one to keep, and on searching the internet don't see much history for sales of these here in the UK. Does anyone have any idea of pricing or demand for these? Either they are super rare in the UK, or nobody is interested. I'll be taking photos in the next few days and will post one to the classifieds, but would be interested in comments on value and which one to keep. First world problems eh? cheers all
13. Hands up!!! It was me selling this amp on evilbay!! I think this whole discussion around warranty is BS. How often when you buy some electrical item from a high street store do you but the 'extended warranty'? Hardly ever. Also if I buy a GB Shuttle in the US and return to the UK with it, and it malfunctions, then I call GB direct. They deal with my problem. They send me a return label, I ship to Arizona, they send me a new one by return. If I go via the original dealer, whether in the US or the UK I will wait 8 weeks again to get a replacement. This is fact, it happened to me with my first Shuttle - I had in intermittent fan issue, and after posting on Talkbass, I spoke to Jeff Genzler in person within 2 hours, and I had a new Shuttle in my hands the following day (overnight form Arizona to S.Carolina), before even sending my suspect unit back. There are other stories on Talkbass about the incredible GB service, which a dealer could never match. Today this is a small world we live in, and the fact you are in the UK means an extra couple of days shipping each way, the thing weighs 3.5 lbs, so even if you had to stump up the shipping yourself it wouldn't be the end of the world. Now I am not condoning large-scale grey imports, nor trying to put UK kosher dealers out of business, it is just a fact that with the breaking down of international economic barriers, the ease of doing business on the WWW, and the current exchange rate, then this is going to happen more and more. And at the end of the day, GB will not let you down however you obtained your amp, I guarantee it. I was selling this one with receipt if needed and all original docs. There was no danger, or criminal activity in selling this. Apologies to anyone who had problem accessing the ebay link - I had included links to pics on a hosted site and the pics were all a bit large. Now, anyone want to buy a brand new Ric 4003 in jetglo for £750 ?? :-)
14.
Hi Deekay. I also travel to the states a lot but have been worried about bringing a head back in case voltage /Hz problems mess with it. I know the Markbass covers the voltage range and can switch between 50/60Hz so can I now assume that Genz Benz does the same? That would be nice. Anyone else know of any other makes that can cope with pond jumping?
Yes don't worry about the voltage, there is a switch on the back between 120 and 240 Volts (actually it sayss 230 oddly enough) but I can assure you it works fine in the UK, as did my Neo-Pak. Also this Amp is small enought to go in your luggage without raising any suspicians through Customs :-) I have heard the new tiny GK 500 due out later this year will also be switchable (it is a lot easier with the SMPS power supplies to do this).
15. I am lucky enough to live between the US and UK and own the hyped Shuttle 6.0 - I bought 2 in the US about 3 months ago, and sold one on ebay in the UK about 3 weeks back. I have gigged the other several times now, both with just a Neox212T backline and DI/PA support and I can tell you this is one amazing head. You have to live with it a while to really love it, and you will find the tone you want. Together with the GB Neox it has plenty of headroom for even large halls, and the DI is one of the best I have come across. I owned a Countryman 85, but have sold it now as I don't ever see me needing it again. If you know the NEo-Pak 3.5, the Shuttle tone when EQ'd flat is VERY similar, the front end is indentical I understand. Only downside as far as I can see it is the lack of 2Ohm capability. But then when I had the 2, I connected the effects send of one to the effects return of the other, connected an Epi410 and the Neox212T and had the most incredible 7lb 1200W rig of doom!!!!! At US prices you can afford to own 2 though. I will be bringing another new back to the UK next week - if anyone is interested in one let me know. But don't tell C&E :-)
