  2. I'm reminded of when I was on Ascension Island during the Falklands. A small observing boat was captured and ten or twelve Argentinian soldiers were held on the island.
One morning, on our way to breakfast. me and my mate saw them all in a circle , heads down , with a padre in the centre of them .
"Well I've never seen that before " says I.....
"whats that ? ", says he.
"Seen an enemy pray" says I ........................

I spent most of last night re-doing the vocal. With copious application of ReaTune, it sounds a little better in places. Thanks for the encouragement, although I would beg to disagree with lurksalot - it is my voice that is a touch toneless. . . . because it certainly sounds like it to my ears!

So here it is, no mystery, no reason for your curiosity to be piqued Dad3353, it's just a song, and I couldn't have your lack of sleep on my conscience :)

A slightly sideways interpretation of the photo, it has to be said, but partially explained on the soundcloud page.

We really shouldn't be looking at numbers, the end of the month votes are what really count the most, at least as far as this competition goes.

Indeedy.....the one vote I got made me chuffed to nuts.....if I never get another one I'll still be a happy chappy...(although two would be nice ;) !)

Changed tactics and decided to listen anyway...took my non-musical brain a while to get used to it .... ++ I really enjoyed it !!

  6. I sympathise with the OP...took me 2 days to get what I was playing in sync with what I'd already recorded on Reaper...

but that was definately down to a lack of patience on my part !!

I'm using "viking guitar" somethin' or other on youtube....but I still find myself rushing to the end of the tutorial to get the bit I want >:( ...patience is the key !!

  7. Despite various injuries, a lack of talent (and sometimes patience ! ), I've decided to have a go at the challenge...mmm

I thought the donkey (mule?) on the left looked a tad dis-heartened and have written it from his point of view

Also,I have little concept of mixing,eq (ing?) etc,etc...so it will be what it'll be and I shall wait for the howls of derision and laughter and try better next time....

I've also under-estimated the time involved, although I still managed to get through the epic by Dad3353... !!!

  8. Having listened to the back catalogue of this comp over the past 4-5 weeks, I got inspired to move on from the Boss br...so I've downloaded Reaper, priced up interfaces, mics etc etc....

After listening to all these excellent pieces, I think I'll stick where I am
Anyhow, now narrowed it down to the last 8...

    Impressive work all...

  9. Hello,

Having listened to the back catalogue of 'Monthly competitions', I was that impressed that I decided to have a delve into the dark side.....
So I read through the wealth of info on this site and watched a couple of tutorials on youtube and came up with a plan !! (which for me is a novelty )

I downloaded Reaper and took a few days finding my way around, downloading and using a vsti.......so far so good !!

I wanted to use some rough recordings I'd done on my Boss micro BR to see if I could re-mix them within Reaper, and therefore learn a bit about the process of mixing etc, before trying to write new stuff and get me head round Reaper at the same time :scratch_one-s_head:

But, I can only get the 'completed' Boss track to appear in reaper, and I cant split it down..... I can add sounds but it's basically the song that is sat on the Boss...

If someone could point me in the right direction, I'd apprecite it......
The Boss tracks are converted to mp3 and sat on my computer...

    regards

    Nigel
