3. ive just started few weeks ago on how to pop and slap the bass, ive mastered the right technique i think anyway at least, sound right and looks right only on the top string though i ent tryed doing orther strings yet until i get even better, problem is though, ive been playing bass now with fingers for over 2 months and only recently has my finger finally startedmto stand up to the 2/4 hours per day of a pounding i give them, but one of my fingers has started busting up again now ive strated the popping, its the finger i pop the string with, keeps getting skinned, not sure weather thats cause im doing it wrong or cause my skin on the fingers ent strong enough yet i dont know but as of above sounds right is there anything you can buy to give your fingers some rest bite or een any tips on how to make the skin on my fingers go rock hard?
4. i ent read in this post in ages, and i agree steve is a great player but being a student 25 quid for a 1 hour lesson would probs be out of reach and something i couldn't do weekly, but i get your point on the sayings you learn more from a good teacher in one lesson than a bad one over 5 lessons,i will take heed of this when picking my next tutor.
5. LOL this post made me laugh, did you actually pass the audtion then? i also find it tricky working 'some' songs out by ear and keeping the timeing

8. hey dude im looking for a new bass tutor, ive been playing this instrument now about 2 hours per day for last 4months,studyed it also with my last tutor for 2 of those months and im comitted to getting really awesome on it but i enjoy playing it also ,im probs somewhere between the beginner to intermediate level on the instrument ,i play with fingers and have been doing for last 2 months and thats now my prefered style of playing (i own a washburn xb120) anyway im looking for probs about 6 lessons at most just to round up my knowledge on this instrument and then continue to learn on my own and of course if i need help on it in future i can refer back where do you hold the lessons and what prices are we looking at per hour? thanks -rob-
9. lol i just want to become a really good bassist regardless ,im not into jazz or funk really but it would be really cool to be able to do that stuff my self and im always watching videos of people popping and slapping bass on youtube and really want to be able to do it one day,my tutors showed me a few bits and bobs but we ent done much work on it ,maybe he doesnt think im ready for it yet i dont know i'll get there, its only been 3 and a half months, probs takes years to become good on this instrument but i'll get there one day for sure =)
10. hi im 20 been playing bass now about 3 and a half months ,i play about on average 2 hours a day and have recently moved onto learning how to pop and slap the bass,i can pop the bass well and keep it flowing but i cant do both together and make it flow, any links of tutorial you recommend or any hints of tips as i really want to be rocking on this instrument one day,i also need to some how work on how to recognise the bass in songs by ear,i sometimes struggle with certain types of songs to hear and stay in time with the bass, any stuff you recommend me doing to train my ear to hear and recognise the notes bit better, just any tips really for someone whos kind of stuck between the beginners to intermediate sort of level on the instrument
11. hey we need a guitarist to complete the line up of our band, we have a vocalist,bassist/screamer,guitarist,and drummer,BUT need a 2nd guitarist to complete the line up as at the moment we are useing just 1 guitar to practice our songs at robannas which we get by on but ideally we need 2,the tabs we use for the guitars are of basic/intermediate ability and the kind of bands we look up to are 'hawthorne heights' 'silverstein' 'paramore' etc etc so if theres anybody out there in the BIRMINGHAM area of ages 18-30 who enjoy makeing music and want someone to jam with and make music then feel free to get in touch, ideally the person must be of intermediate ability ie been playing guitar for least 1 year thanks

15.
What are you looking to learn ?
literally everything, been a beginner on this instrument there loads i need to learn,ie scales which im currently doing some work on right now with the dvd i purchased,my current tutor has me doing some basic riffs which has me useing all 4 chords to get all four of my fingers working which im now doing quite comfortably now, also useing finger exercises and just stuff like that, gone back to basics with this pretty much as my tutor said i was running before could walk kind of thing as i had already learned 3 songs by the time i had gone to see him, these were all 'hawthorne heights' songs which are mainly basic/intermediate songs and are good for beginners, plus we are covering one of there songs with the band me and my friends have set up, i use a pick/plec when i play also as useing my fingers feels weird for me right now, maybe in the future i'll refer back to that but in the mean time i think i need to learn all the different scales/patterns on my bass, and learn some riffs which i can practice in my own time to improve my tab/chord switching etc etc im also trying to learn right now all the different tabs as i was asked to play a A SHARP i think it was and i didn't even know where that was on my bass guitar as i only know the different strings GDAE and the numberings up the side,i know a bit on the octaves and the different powerchords etc etc,but im pretty sure everything ive just told you will give you a fair idea of the kind of level im working at and what i need to do step by step to improve myself as a bassist,im pretty good at mimicing orther peoples songs but my knowledge on the instrument needs some work so i can become a good player in my own right and not somebody elses right and the only way i can do this is to learn all the basics as ive obviously missed some out,ive been playing bass just over 3 weeks -rob-
16. im looking for a tutor who can help me out with my washburn xb120,im currently getting lessons off one guy whos a family friend once a week for 10 pounds which is pretty good but he can only see me once a week as his a family man and has a buisness to run,im working at a beginners level with this anyone out there or know of anyone, like competive rates would be good i had a look on google and saw the average price was 15/18 quid for 1 hour which is a fair bit more than what im paying now,i think id be after just 1 lesson to add to the lesson i already get on a wednesday, evening time ie after 7pm would be best also as i work etc etc anyone who can helpy me out thanks!! -rob-
17.
No, not for sure. Depends on the amp and how you're using it. If you're using a Roland Basscube 30, then play away to your hearts content. If you're using a normal Cube 30, then two things are likely to happen: 1. It's likely to sound rubbish. 2. If you take it up loud you are likely to tear the speaker cone or otherwise knacker it. You can play bass, quietly, through most guitar amps with no ill effects. However, it's not what guitar amps were designed for so they don't do it well and if you ask them to do it loudly they have a tendency to complain in an expensive manner. Personally, if you're playing through anything that isn't a bass amp, I'd start looking around for a dedicated bass amp you can afford, however small. It'll produce proper tone and will be much harder to destroy.
thanks for the advice,i found that really helpful.
18. being a newbie on bass guitar and stuff i didn't relise that theres a speical type of amp for a bass guitar,i only found this out when my tutor asked me if i had a bass amp, like ive been useing a normal 30 watt roland amp for the last 3 weeks with no ill effects to the amp as of yet,if i continue to use it will it bust my amp for sure?
