1. Can anyone confirm if this is a factory fretless or has it been defretted?
2.
I just stumbled across the PB1839 ad the other day and although I thought it seemed a bit too good to be true fired off an email just in case. Strangely I've only found this and the Talkbass threads today, after sending the email (as an aside, Jimmy - and good man letting people know about this - sold me my Alembic Triple Omega when he worked at the Bass Centre). I've not had a response - maybe because I asked for specific photos - but will avoid like the plague now, although there's no way I'd have bitten without seeing the bass in the flesh anyway. How do people get away with this stuff without being reported?
How funny! I only remember selling one triple omega, does it have walnut faces? Or some such dark wood? I seem to remember selling a John enthwistle Spider on the same day.
3. It's actually the N3's that I replaced, I thought they were a little characterless. I've also taken the active pre out of that bass too. Too many controls makes work for idle hands, know what I mean?
4. " I was feeling a bit down after a scan had confirmed that I have a damaged/severed tendon in my right hand this morning. " I'm really sorry to hear you're having tendon issues. Being a paranoid hypochondriac myself, how did this come about and what is the prognosis?
5. I've got a set of AG560's in a jazz dlx which I love. Traditionally I prefer 70's sounding fenders, but the AG60s are the best and most versatile in my opinion.
6. Price drop to £999.00, it really is a lovely bass
7. Did I mention I would consider all offers on this bass? Remember it's not just the bass you're getting here, there's £300 worth of flight case and an awful lot of hardware in the way of stands and supports
8. I went to see Kula Shaker a few nights ago at the Roundhouse in London. Alonza Bevan playing a lovely metalic blue jazz bass sounded ace. I wasn't a fan of theirs in the 90's but I have to say they have some beautiful songs and top grooves. I'd thoroughly recommend going to see them if you get the chance.
9. Bump, new photos and stand adapter added

11. Hi everyone, I bought this in 2002 from the Bass Centre wapping. It's a Ned Steinberger design, Czech Republic made NS CR4 electric double bass. This one has been heavily toured and has some dinks and scratches to prove it. I've put D'Addario Helicore double bass strings on this and it plays better and sounds more convincing than with the original NS strings. It also comes with the newer model of bag, a full flight case and the end pin adaptor as shown in the photos. I'd be happy to look into shipping this but I would recommend coming to West London to take a look at it before buying it, like I've mentioned it has some stories to tell but plays and sounds beautiful. I'm looking for £1100 ideally, but I'm open to sensible offers. Please email me with any questions.[/ I've spent a couple of good hours cleaning this up, replacing a couple of rubber feet, cleaning the finish and it's come up a treat, I'll post some more photos soon. I've also found the stand adapter so it can freestand while using the end pin PRICE DROP £999.00
12. Let's keep shouting about these scams so they can't keep doing it so easily. I'm taking this one a bit personally because it's targeting bass players
13. Yes, the Shetland Islands, the sad thing is the more I dig the more I get the feeling it's worked a bunch of times already. Real shame.
14. Hi all, I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this so please do move it if it's in the wrong place. I saw the following advert on Craigslist London - "It's the PB 1839. The construction is Shedua facings. Fretted Rosewood, 4 strings, 21 frets. It has the full active elect ron ics, volume (pulls up for pick attack), pick up pan and two tone controls with the push pull/boost facitities. Neck is the usual Wal multi laminates of maple / hornbeam / mahogany.\ Built in 1981 and signed off by Ian Waller and Pete (The Fish) Stevens himself in control cavity. The bass is in excellent condition, only used in the studio." The bass was for sale for £1800, which seemed far too cheap for what that instrument is, but I thought an email might be worth a shot. I sent through a mail asking if the bass was for sale and if I could get some more pics. The person replied saying that there are more photos and gave me an email address to reply to so we could chat further. They also stated that they're in the Shetland Islands so I'd have to either go there to collect it or do everything via post. Being a bit of a bass nerd, I've known about the Wal database of serial numbers and bass owners for a while now so I thought I'd do some digging. The serial in the advert matches up with an owner on there, so I got on google and found him. I've since been in touch with him and he tells me he sold the bass via ebay in 2008-09 to the drummer from a pretty big metal band in the states, and it would seem that the photos I've been sent are all taken for the original ebay listing. I'm willing to bet that the text from the Craigslist advert is copied and pasted from the original ebay listing too. I've googled the serial number a little further and I've found a posting on a Yahoo chat forum from 2010 talking about the exact same advert and suspicious email behaviour. I've asked the seller for his/her name and who they purchased the bass from but the emails have gone quiet. I'm 99% sure this is a scam, I'm going to keep trying to get in touch and I'll update this thread if anything more happens. Be safe out there! Jimmy Sims
15. I think so yes, if you trimmed them down you'd be in danger of losing the silk winding
16. Anyone interested before I eBay this puppy?
17. Hi Simon, yes drop me a PM and we'll sort out the details. Many thanks
18. I'm selling my roland ev5 expression pedal. It's been out of the box but I'm pretty sure I've never used it. Still has the box. £35 inc postage to mainland uk. I'm pretty sure this should be in the 'effects' thread, even though this technically isn't an effect, please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Many thanks
