1. Hi Thanks for the link, not really what I was looking for though. John
2. I just wanted something I could quickly pick up and play even if I just had a spare 5 mins. I want to avoid the need for amps / headphones etc. Thanks for the response! John
3. Can anyone recommend a good travel / short scale acoustic? Thanks John
4.
If portability is you goal, probably not. But portability could just mean small size - in which case some of the smaller Ampeg cabs might fit your bill. If you want light, not the best option.
Yeh weight is not too much of a factor (within reason), it is more size that I am concerned with. Cheers John
5. Is that the rs 2x12 cab?
6.
Have just posted in "new Ampeg" thread above, Am very happy with my PF800 and a pair of 210 Pro Neos. Very portable.
Would anyone else recommend Ampeg? The SVT-112AV could be a good option for me?
7.
I wouldn't rule out Schroeder cabs. Their 2x12 with 1 angled driver is very small and light and puts out a huge sound. Cheap by comparison to Berg, Aguilar etc too.
What the build quality of these cabs like? They look quite 'DIY' in the photos I have seen?
8. Ok great, so I think based on all the feedback it seems second hand bergs, barefaced or aguilar would be the best options.
9. Anyone got any experience with the tc rs range? How does it compare with the likes of barefaced and bergs?
10.
With £400 available I`d get one of the Barefaced Compacts going on here. Due to the Gen 3 range coming out, many more than satisfied Gen 2 owners are flogging theirs to get the new ones. Light, powerful, and as others have said, a good cab will make a good amp release its potential. My personal faves however are Markbass, so will also recommend these.
Thanks for this, have you used the mark bass traveller series? Do you think 2 x 1x12 might be a good setup?
11. Hi Yeh I think from what you guys have said the Bergantino & Barefaced seem to be the most popular options. I will have to keep my eyes peeled in the for sale section. John
12.
Get the best cabs you can. A good amp through OK cabs will only sound OK, but a good amp through great cabs will sound fantastic.
But what are the best cabs I can? That's the problem? Haha
13. Hi Guys I think a 1x15 may be a bit bulky, I don't have a lot of room in the car. I was thinking at rehearsals I could get away with one cab and just using the second one for gigs. I don't have an extortionate budget, probably around £400. I only need the one cab for now I can get the other a bit further down the line. I am using an Ashdown ABM EVO III 500. Thanks again John
14. The Gallien Krueger cabs also seem great value but again don't have much experience of these, anyone use them?
15. Thanks guys, so would you say 2 2x10's is a better setup than 2 2x12's? Also has anyone had much experience with the genz benz gear? Seems really good value but that also makes me wary.
16. Hi guys I am looking to get a new rig but looking for something that is really portable without compromising too much on the volume or the lows. I have been looking at various setups of 2 1x12's or 2 2x10's but I am unsure what would be best. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers John
