  2. I had my RGT Grade 6 exam today. Frustrating as I feel I didn't do myself justice. Primarily, because of nerves, I rushed one section and made some errors that I wouldn't do ordinarily. The ridiculous thing is that I don't get particularly nervous before I gig but I do when I have my bass guitar exams. Presumably that's because there is an unpredictable element in an exam and the focus is entirely on you, whereas in a band situation the focus is diffused and you know exactly what you have to produce. Tips? Comparable experiences?
  3. Bassassin- I take my hat off to you and curse you in equal measure. Thank you for the information, but now I've got overwhelming GAS.
  4. Saw her this morning on the Andrew Marr show and couldn't make out what bass their bassist was playing. Any Basschat sleuths able to enlighten me?
  5. Now you're talking. Any excuse.
  6. 2 eminently sensible suggestions thank you, although I'm not great at DIY. Read somewhere that applying nail varnish was an option, which sounded a bit suspect.
  7. I've found that the guitar lead tends to come out rather too easily from the jack socket on my Shergold Marathon Mk 1a. Got my first gig coming up and don't want to be worrying about that issue. Any tried and tested solutions? Thanks
  8. Maybe a slight exaggeration. Although, I am convinced it helped me pass my RGT exam with a distinction. The examiner spent more time discussing its merits and playing it than actually examining.
  9. Interested to hear if anybody has any thoughts on bass maintenance? I either play my bass or put it in a gig bag or on a stand ... And ... Er ... That's it. My kids, wife, house and car are far less important and they get far more attention. Any recommended products, routine etc to keep my bass in tip top condition?
  10. Having the predictable mid-life crisis and as the wife won't let me resort to the usual solutions (3 M's - Mistress, Motorbike, Marathon) I've formed a band. Also working on RGT Grade 5 at the moment. Really enjoying Basschat, although if I spent as much time practising the bass as I do browsing this forum, I"d be a much better player.
