  2. Cheers. My son likes the look of the Ibanez GSRM20 GIO miKro Bass but has a habit of not sticking with things and it’s not a bass I would want to keep if he changes his mind. The G&L and Musicman Sterling would be interesting.
  3. Thanks for the reply. I will definitely look out for the Vintera as have a Vintera P and am very pleased with it. Will seek out the other threads for more info …

  5. I’ve always loved the looks of the classic Fender basses. Precision, Jazz, Telecaster, Jaguar. However I hated the Mustang. To me It always looked like a fugly toy bass. My son has recently shown an interest in playing bass and finds them a bit big for his build. I have started looking at short scale basses and am constantly drawn to the Mustang. For some bizarre reason they suddenly look great. Nothing has changed except my perception! I don’t want a PJ but the JMJ is out of my budget. Has anyone tried the Squire Classic Vibe and is it any good? Alternatively is there a MIJ or MIM model that may be around on the used market that has the Mustang pickup configuration? Thanks.
  6. Yes Black Sabbath were. It’s a term they didn’t particularly like. They saw themselves as a heavy rock band, which was the term used to describe their contemporaries. I guess some journalist may well have looked at the industrial heritage or just thought metal is harder than rock. It’s ultimately just a label to categorise music. This is akin to trying to nail down jelly. Music evolves and the label no longer fits hence the need for multiple sub genres and lots of people questioning who should go in what box and whether they have now sold out or grown out of that box so should be moved to another box.

That’s fantastic news. Now if Mr Tickle can get his drum kit returned harmony will be restored to the cosmos 😉 Seriously though I am glad that some justice has been done.

  23. Yep they were based in Leeds. Bauhaus were Northampton. A lot of metal and goth bands evolved from the North and Midlands in the late 70’s and early 80’s. It wasn’t yet a time of coiffured hair and rampant greed.
  24. I think the number of cover versions of Dylan, Young and Cohen along with the band name give a pretty big hint of Eldritch’s influences.
  25. Yet they were one of the first post punk bands to define the genre along with Siouxsie and the Banshees.
