  1. Thanks pal! They were a long way down the list and did not appear under the 'my content' icon at the top left which was odd....
  2. No trades thanks. Can ship to UK only. Prob £35 ish. Fender Jazz Deluxe. USA. 1997. This has the very very much praised (and stock) John Suhr pre amp and single pole pickups. Excellent tone, one of the most saught after Fender Jazz basses. Superb bass. Professionally refinished in cherryburst by Noiseworks in Coventry by John Williams in 2014. Was setup 12 months previous to that. This is one of a kind. Comes with hard case. LOCATED IN MID NORFOLK
  3. ** SOLD **Can ship to UK only. My old Stingray HH for sale add appears to have been removed. I am unsure why? LOCATED IN NORFOLK NO TRADES THANKS. Condition is 9.5/10. Light marks from pick use on pick guard, no dings or scratches. Dates from around May 2007 from Ernie Ball website. No crackle from pots, jack is solid and all controls working as normal. 5 way selector switch so it can switch from humbucker, inner single coils, outer single coils or neck humbucker, or both humbuckers!!! Absolutely tonal crazyness... Actually sounds like a jazz with the outer coils selected. Comes with Musicman hardcase. Have loads of other photos

  7. I have a sub ray stingray bass and have added a John East preamp and Nordstrand pickup which has separate wiring for each coil I would like to add another single coil pickup to the neck and ultimately want a SINGLE two way switch to do the following: SWITCH POSITION 1 - Humbucker only (both coils) SWITCH POSITION 2 - Humbucker outer coil AND neck pickup (giving a jazz style sound) So I need some kind of switch that will have 6 connectors (I guess!) so each coil goes to a pair of connectors. SEE THIS PIC EDIT! I think I may have found a solution! See below the 2 way DPDT switch. I think this should do what I need?
  8. I play jazzes mainly and had no problem with this neck profile and didn't find it too chunky at all.

  10. Thanks guys, will check out the preamp thread.
  11. I have many basses (I mean many!) and play funk. Always been a Fender Jazz person and my main bass is a deluxe which I love dearly. I struggle massively with the jazz basses when playing live though, always sound too muddy in halls/pubs. I posted something a while back about this with some excellent advice received (isolating risers for the amp etc). I joked that I perhaps should "buy a stingray" to cut through better. Anyway, had the opportunity to buy a Sub4 REALLY cheap @ £180 (Indonesian). Restrung it and took it to practice last night. I was quite literally astounded by the sound of it. It's seriously light (the RAY34 and real stingrays are Ash, this is basswood). I struggle with heavy basses which caused me untold back/neck pain over the last 3 years. I have never in my life had a bass that cut through so much. I could literally hear EVERY note. I don't know why it feels better than everything else for slap, but it just does. I understand people mod these with different pickups and preamps etc too for even better results. The output is REALLY REALLY hot though, not sure why! Anyway, if anyone wants to try the stingray route, I would recommend trying a secondhand one of these, especially if you prefer light basses.
  12. Thanks again all. Some interesting reading. Will definitely try a home made dense foam riser. Appreciate the comments about the audience hearing something different, but as mentioned with the wireless I can walk into the audience area during a sound check and hear what they hear (which is just a muddy bass sound). The reason I mentioned about the stingray (!) was I used a Ray34 for a while and had no issues whatsoever if I recall. I think my main point about the thread was the use of the jazz 'both pickup' sound which no matter how good the amp would always sounded muddy...
  13. Really good advice so far, thanks everyone! As it happens, yesterday I was playing on a raised small stage area so the foam certainly may have helped there.Agreed 100% about the amount of people affecting the bass sound, i have also found that.
  14. Hi all. I play in a funk band and have a jazz bass, markbass 1x15 and 2x10. Love the scooped sound. In my house, and when recorded the sound is perfect. When playing outside gigs, it's great. HOWEVER, I am struggling with pub or hall gigs which are large and often have wooden floors. No matter what I do, I just hear a muddy sound. I have wireless so can stand at various places whilst doing a sound check which is handy, but the sound is just so muddy when the traditional "both pickup selected" sound is there. I can favour the bridge pickup which makes it a tiny bit better, but then sounds thin. We have a decent PA and I DI out into this a tiny bit, but anything too loud and it just sounds to tinny (I do lots of slap). EQ wise, everything is pretty flat. I usually take the mids out a bit, but put them back in halfway through the gig and it sounded worse to my ears. Any advice appreciated. I am wondering if I should try a stingray for stuff like that which will cut through a bit more... Thanks in advance.

  16. Superb, that makes sense. So the 350 can handle 175w into 8 Ohms. So I go from the speakon output of the 350 amp, then to my 1x15 8 ohm Mark bass cabinet, then daisy chain to my 2x10 Mark bass cabinet with a speakon adapter.
  17. The 350 only has one speaker out that I can see.
  18. Thanks. I can't run both my cabs at the same time though can I?
  19. Hi all, I have a MarkBass CMD102P combo (which is the Combo Head 2 amp and 2x10 speakers). I also have a matching Markbass 1x15 extension cabinet. After hearing an Aguilar Tone Hammer setup (I think with a 1x12 cab) I thought it sounded much better. I will shortly be taking deliver of a Aguilar TH350 amp only, but before I buy a 1x12 cab I was wondering if I can use the amp to drive the 2x10 or 1x15 Markbass speakers? The 1x15 has the speakon connector, but the 2x10 cab has a 1/4 connector which looks as though it won't fit in the back of the TH350. Thanks.
  20. Based in Mid-Norfolk. No offers or trades thanks. I would rather not post, so will try to sell pickup only to start with. Comes with floor stand or wall mount (your choice). Excellent condition. This is one of the older ones with the nice satin neck, not the new glossy horrible ones (they genuinely look cheap and horrible).
