1. I'll use this thread with a somewhat similar question. What would be a possible market value of a '83 or '84 japanese Squier Jazz, this time SQ series? My friend has got a rather nice cream white one and thinks about selling it (which I advise him not to, as it's probably worth more as an instrument than in terms of market value). I'm sure they don't go anywhere near JV type of prices. Any idea how much less could it be though?

2. I bought an MXR BlowTorch pedal from Dan, he was a top gentleman in our communications and very keen and accommodating with the postage, so that the delivery date could match my travel plans. Much recommended.

Great value basses I am sure though, but when you can pickup a used USA fender for less then the Fender is going to win.

yeah, you can put any new bass against a second-hand one and say it's not as good a value. Comparing new vs new or used vs used would be a bit more fair.

4. yes, they only did that for 414, 415, 614 and 615, not for the newer lines. Well, more expensive ones like BB3000 had matching headstocks too. You shouldn't have a problem finding a 414 for little money. I find necks on them more comfortable (slightly slimmer, fretboard edges more rolled) than on 424, if less stiff.

5. "The Pork Loin incorporates two distinct tonal pathways that are blended together - a modern soft clipping overdrive and a modified British preamp for clean" quoted from the Dunlop catalogue.

6. I believe that the MXR Bass Overdrive is a repacked Way Huge Pork Loin (having tested them next to each other), with maybe some subtle tweaks. The "clean" is not a blend of the direct uneffected signal, it's a clean channel emulation, as in guitar amps. So yeah, it does have an eq preset, and it does have a bit of hair too.
I had high hopes, but so far, the BlowTorch remains my favourite MXR drive pedal. Those Darkglasses do look interesting though.
