How is everyone getting on with them? Is it reliable and accurate enough to do away with a dedicated strobe pedal tuner?...

Can't speak for anyone else but love mine, fast and accurate! Does what it say's on the tin...or box! :i-m_so_happy:

I've come to believe that pickup type and placement is more important to the fundamental tone of a bass than anything else.

+1

You're not really gonna get close to the sound of a Stringray with a Jazz.

But if it's just for 1 song, I balance in favour of the bridge pick-up then use an EQ to scoop mids and boost the highs/lows a little bit.
It's still no-where near the inherent sound of a SR but it's closer to my ears.

3. The good thing about being a lefty is that I can't get too jealous when watching videos like this! :P
But that White '59 P with matching headstock... jesus!!

Pretty sure he brought the '63 black Jazz with matching headstock from Bass Direct, I think Geddy sent them a picture when he got it and they put it up on FB.

His tech will never be short on work though, eh?

I love the origional but I didn't think it worked as a rock song (we did the Beck Bogart Appice version).

Have you heard the Phil X cover of superstition? All sorts of good stuff! ...IMO anyway :P

The young guy with bad timing, poor technique, cliched licks, but good hair winning his group was a travesty. However, I have learned that he is related to the owner of the 100 Club where it was filmed. Coincidence?

I've gotta agree with that, seemed less about the playing more about the rockstar factor to me.

Will probably watch the final but thought the whole premise of the show is a bit pants really.

6. Might pop into PMT Brum at lunch to pick 1 up as it say's they have it in stock, my Boss clip-on doesn't play nice with B Strings and is a tad unsure sometimes :(

What sort of batteries does it take? those coin shaped ones or normal ones?
The website says the button/coin type batteries, "Up to 18 hours of usage via a standard Lithium Coin Battery (CR2032)" :i-m_so_happy:

Good question, I use that feature a lot in spotify
You can download music for offline use, not sure on download limit though.

Not particularly blown away by it after a few days use, turned off auto-renewal and continuing to use Spotify.

8. If the Electra models have the same truss as German models it's just an allen key.
I do remember it being unusually troublesome to the key into the TR socket though.

I couldn't tell you what size to use as I haven't adjusted it for a while but it was definitely an allen key and not some bespoke tool :)

I brought up my observation that stringing through the body kills the strings quicker.
Hmm......interesting! I picked up a used Mike Lull back in March/April time and noticed that the B string (which is through body) lost it's liveliness a lot quicker than the other strings with a fresh set of DR Nickels LRs.

Although the B string doesn't sit on the nut properly as the taper is about 5mm too short on DR's for 35" scale & through body.

I put it down to the nut situation and inexperience with a 5th string (as the Lull is my first), which neither probably help if i'm honest.

I saw that myself. Surely it's not mixed up with that is it?

It's all over Twitter. People paying respects including famous musicians. But still can't find any official word???
I'm in the same boat with you, I reckon that maybe someone saw the date on Wiki and ran with it.
Though I also saw on twitter that apparently his brother broke the news?

I'm skeptical and hope it's a hoax/error... but it will be a hell of a loss if it's true, only 60 too :(

11. Just a heads up you might not be able to order the more traditional Fender shaped Sandberg's anymore, they've introduced their own body design and are phasing out the J and P shapes.

You might be able to custom order the old shape but i'm guessing you'll have to pay custom prices for it.

These are the new shaped Sandberg's introduced earlier this year:

Lovely basses though! Mine, though heavy, sounds massive! :D

12. Have you thought about installing a blend pot in place of 1 of the volumes?
Both my Sandberg (Passive) & Mike Lull (Bartolini Pre) have this setup and both have a very even blend, it's awesome for adjusting on the fly :)

I've no experience with V/V/T jazzes though so have never come across your issue!

13. If it's friction from the strings causing the sore then super-gluing the end of your fingertips helps a tonne.
Cover the problem areas, let it dry and it'll create a hard coating for your fingers... simple yet effective! ;)

I'd let your current sore heal first before doing this though! :)
