My god, that string spacing would kill me 😁 Tom Jenkinson played one in a live Shobaleader session (Boiler Room on YouTube) and it's probably the nicest tone I've heard from him. Enjoy!

Great stuff. I love those tuners and I've been wondering if they could accept, and hold, a bass string for my next build. I don't like seeing machine heads so I wish ideas like this were more widely available

This is amazing! The craftsmanship is so impressive and it's a beautiful instrument. Is there a video demo or audio recording? It looks like so much fun to play.

Man, that looks like a lot of fun to play. Incredible, seamless carving work on the neck joint.

Oh god yeah 😍 Burnt amber with maple board, please.

Si bought a bridge off me - communication and payment was spot on, but also very understanding of some baby-based delays on my end. Cheers 👍

I think if the donor bass was a rarer or more unusual-looking bass, then yeah, it's a cool project. But this is gonna cost about a hundred notes or more by the look of it. For that money, I think you could get a more interesting starting point for a headful->headless project.

Those neck pocket screws 🤨 Jens Ritter eat your heart out

Just a little bump, if you don't mind.

Although the price is deranged, I love this as an art piece. It's like somebody used a drawing of a guitar in The Beano as a blueprint.

That's a handsome guitar. Gonna nip over to YouTube for some audio samples, unless you have some you'd like to add..

odds and sods acquired over years of building, repairing, modifying etc. All but the last one have spent time in use and are scratched to varying degrees. Hopefully the photos give an honest representation.
Good gear, though. All working well. Useful if you're looking for cheap stuff for a little project. Prices include postage.
1. SOLD 4 string bridge. No screws. Provenance unknown. Can provide measurements if required. £7 - SOLD2. SOLD Black 4 string bridge. With screws. £7 SOLD3. Gotoh tuners. 4 in a line. From an 80s Matsumoku P-bass. I know they're Gotoh because I still have the Gotoh 206 bridge from the same bass and they used to have thin covers over the gear with the Gotoh logo. £15
4. SOLDGeneric black 2+2 tuners. Fairly heavily scratched. £7 SOLD5. SOLD Telecaster guitar🤫 body hardware from a Thomann t-style kit. Unused. I bought the kit but did it "relic" style so I used genuinely older parts I already had. £10 SOLD -
I should've started this a while ago. I've bought a couple of things on here, but I've just started trying to sell (some EMG 5 string pickups here 😉) so, better late than never.

Good price. Good communication. Prompt postage. Top marks all round. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Oh, come on, this is FAR too nice a bass to live in a gigbag. Somebody buy it!

I played one in my local music shop a couple of times. It feels and sounds amazing, and surprisingly affordable. I just can't honestly justify the expense or the space it would take up in my wee house. If I had a bigger house, I wouldn't be able to hold back. Enjoy!

Yeah, I make and repair guitars for fun so this is definitely tempting for me, at this price.

Still no bids. Possibly one to keep an eye on..
-
Oh yeah. That definitely looks like a fun project, although I wouldn't be ready to pay much more than the starting bid, tbh.

Never played a Ritter, but have owned one of their gig-bags and tried a couple of their chocolate biscuits. 😉
Say what you want about Jens, but the guy has range.

For all they know you might be loaded ! Just go for it 👍
Next time I pass a music shop with a Stingray in it, I'm popping on my monocle and asking for a plugged-in go on it.💪

Back in the day when we used to go and try stuff all the time, I'd first always pick up a bass ( and occasionally a Git just for a lark) and have a strum on it not plugged in, loads of times you can just go "Nah.." to yourself at that stage, as it immediately doesn't appeal by the feel of it.
Obviously if it passes the 'pick it up and twang it a bit' test, you can then ask them to steer you towards an amp and see what it sounds like.
Funnily enough despite the fact we always looked like scumbags I don't ever recall being refused to try anything in a music shop. Maybe they didn't want to risk it in case we'd just signed a record deal or something 🤣
2 basses I've tried unplugged that felt amazing (but didn't get a chance to plug in) were a Fodera (don't know the model) and a Peavey Cirrus. Peavey basses are so underrated.
On the guitar shop thing, I always feel weird asking the staff if I can play a guitar I have absolutely zero hope of buying. But I know that's silly behaviour, really. It's not as if every other person in there has a pile of cash burning a hole in their wallet.

omg, I have a million. Truncated list:
For straightforward interest in tone and feel:
Rob Allen mouse
Stradi symphony fretless
Reverend Dub King or Rumblefish (not sure why)
MM Stingray (I know these are everywhere but, like @MichaelDean, I don't spend much time in guitar shops trying everything I like the look of)
Something properly vintage - like a 60s/70s Fender Jazz - just to see
And out of curiosity for the absurdity of it:
That Ibanez Ashula thing
A Basslabs something or other
Acoustic bass - carved top

I too enjoy lying to myself.
This is great stuff, Honza. I love a proud scarf joint, highlighted with veneers, rather than trying to hide it. Really looking forward to the carve on this neck.
