1.
In a parallel universe known as Gumtree! Don't look at Peterbuilt, there are things like Burgundy Mist P's, Sea Foam Jazzes and Jaguars, Pagoda green Cabronita's.
*off to Peterbuilt website. If I see I burgundy Jazz I may just die of GAS, but a YY standard Fodera must come first
 2.
Well JBF, I'm desperately trying to avoid getting this from Peterbuilt in Holland. Anybody liking custom Fender colours, made for them, really should avoid!
Desperately is right. That thing is lovely! I could swear I was just talking to you Karl XD
 3.
My favorite bass is probably the bass I haven't bought/built yet.
Best answer ever! XD
 4. Anyone here own/tried a Fodera, Benavente or Fbass? Very curious about them...
 5.
+1 with Dingwalls. I'm lucky enough to work in a guitar shop and have access to all the trad stuff, Warwicks, MMs et al. Since I got my Super J5 and Combustion, I struggle to play anything else without missing the Dingwall's comfort and tone. My SR1205 hasn't been touched in 5 months!
Lucky man! Not a fan of a Ibanez basses, they make great guitars but their basses in my opinion suck.
 6.
True My bass doc built 70s p replica is just amazing. I don't tinker with it or change it, or want to As discussed with mr grangur I would like to find a perfect jazz bass but I haven't found it yet. I suspect I will have to make it
To tell the truth a imagine Guy Pratt's burgundy mist Betsy as "The perfect jazz" dam, that bass.
 7.
Having said all that, I mostly gig with my G & L SB1 My fave bass is my 66 P
But that would be a good P any from 60-80 I'd have no questions playing, plus the older ones look lovely new P's are just kinda, well...ew.
 8.
My favourite five string so far is my dingwall. It just sounds so nice and is so easy to play. IMHO For four string I would agree with the P bass nominations too. When all else fails........have a P
Yeah, when all else fails and after resorting to a strat with 4 strings only if that fails have a P XD
 9.
Me 3. I was in a shop and the guy pushed a Fender P into my hands. I'd never played a P before. I was new to bass and had only ever played a jazz. I couldn't understand how anyone could be so passionate about a bass with such limited variation in sound. I have a P bass. But I couldn't be happy if it was my only bass.
As you can tell by my name, I'm Jazz's all the way. I understand P's being a phenomenal breakthrough and used & loved widely but I really agree, how can someone love something so limited in sound and so ugly /:
 10.
He's right, you know.
I must be the only guy on this whole website who really dislikes P's XD
 11.
At the moment my favourite bass is my Alembic Series II 5 string. For me it is just about the most perfect bass I could want. The build quality is outstanding, the filter based tone controls give me access to an enormous tonal pallate. It's an incredibly clean sounding bass, no noise, can be very crisp, mellow, meaty, delicate, powerful and has an evenly balanced response across the fretboard. The neck is a dream to play and not too wide and has a satin finish which makes navigation really easy. Jazzyvee
I'm extremely jealous. I'm going to be selling my Alembic 1994 Epic with Zebrawood top or it'll be up for trade methinks, I got it and tbh it wasn't what I was expecting, beautiful bass but just doesn't suit my playing style compared to other Alembics I've played. Still, love the Alembics though. Probably my best sounding bass I own at the mo actually!
 12.
+1 on the Warwick. Their growl just hits the soul every time.
Yup me too, I've got a bubinga pro Series Corvette and it's killer, quality, amazing tone and playability all rolled into German made Win. Still can't say it gives the sound I'm after though.
 13.
I adore my BC Rich Warlock NT. It's beautiful and plays like a dream. It sounds good, too, yet I still have an irresistible urge to tinker with it and want to change the pickups for DiMarzio DP127BK's and the pre-amp for a John East U Retro Deluxe, the nut for a stainless steel one and the jack plate and truss rod cover for fancy cast metal ones.
I can understand that, BC Rich basses are highly underrated. Not a fan of the shapes though I'm more into simplistic body styles.
 14.
Hmmm... hard one. I've got a number of basses and they're all different: PJ, 4 string fretted P 4 string fretted Jazz 5 fretless etc... I love them all for different reasons. Between them they give a variety of tones, growl etc., In many ways I think I'm still looking for "my sound", but it's certainly possible I've got "that bass" right under my nose with the wrong strings, but it's all too easy to blame the bass and go GASsing through the For Sale section and miss out on something you already have.
True that. I'm the same I'm still looking for that "special sound" and yet I already own my dream bass, you come down with GAS for something and when you get it usually it's not all you expected...
 15. Thought I'd make this thread because I'm suffering serious GAS for a new bass and I need to get my mind off it. I'd like you guys to share your opinions on your favourite basses and why? Tone? Growl? Pretty woods? I'm still unsure of mine too many to choose from!
 16.
14 basses!!!!! You're going to love this place
Already do! Bumped into my first ignorant bc'er earlier this week XD yup 14. Although I'm after a nice 24 fret 4 string and I'm going to either sell/trade my Alembic epic to satisfy these urges!
 17.
Perhaps it could be a Bass Porn thread for pics of peoples entire collections of basses rather than limited to a particular make/model/colour/state of fretting etc.. ? I'll start Left to Right - my modded Squier P, OLP MM3 5 String, Ibanez SR300. My mate's Fender Jazz Modern Player is creeping in on the left too!
nice mate! Loving the OLP too
 18.
Do we talk gear here? Ha ha! When I joined I had a bass pod. Now I've got 2 fx boards, a new amp & cabs and more stuff lying around that I care to admit to. Welcome
Thanks man. I know the feeling I'm becoming a gear hoarder. I have GAS for a Fodera now and I already had 14 basses!
 19.
No.
Bit harsh.
 20.
Great idea. I'm surprised no one had thought of this earlier.
-.- seriously I know. I know about the other threads but this is just another. The more the merrier right?
 21. Really have GAS for a Fodera, or a Sadowsky NYC quite Fancy a Benavente too XD got to sell my Alembic Zebrawood Epic to satisfy these urges!
 22.
Just one more bass won't hurt?
Amen to that! I'm on 14 at the minute!
 23.
We have a gear porn forum for this very thing
Meh another thread just to share pics won't hurt right?
