1. Very happy with mine, it needs a bit of bass boost on the amp, but handles it well.....done most of my gigs with a single midget t this year, I also have Compact to add for bigger venues. Talking of grill rattles above, my EA wizzy 10 suffered from this. I was sent a repair kit by EA, but it still rattled with deep bass.....had to "bodge" it myself with foam rubber between the bottom of the speaker and the port. Have not had any unwanted noises from the BF speakers.

  2. I have a Shuttle 9, although I haven't tried a 6, I've read it's a warmer and fuller sound. Perhaps a 9 max if you need more flexibility? I like the 9 because it gives me 500 watts@8ohms into a Midget T for small gigs.......good thing is it covers larger gigs as well and is really portable. I have a Tecamp Puma 1000 ,which I really like, but I find I'm taking the shuttle to gigs at the moment.

  3. I'd be surprised if you any better than the Barefaced midget t. I know it blows the wizzy out the park and is only slightly bigger and insignificantly heavier. I'm using 2 of these where required at the moment and subjectively they equal what I was getting from my UL4x10. Most gigs I only need 1 midget and GB shuttle 9, giving 500 watts.....haven't heard it fart out yet, whereas the wizzy10 breaks up quite early on, and is very mid present and needs bass boosting. I believe upright players like them.
    Hope that helps :)

  4.
You do hear a lot of people saying these amps aren't loud, but I disagree. It's clean all the way to the max, and I think people perceive loudness in distortion, so they feel it's quieter than it is. Also, the level knobs are linear. So when you're half way up, you're half way up, not three quarters as with most amps. I think a lot of people don't set their pre- gain right either. Speaker efficiency is bound to be important here too; Ive only ever used mine with my BF Midget, so I can't compare, but the Midget is an efficient cab.
I had my Micro 550 full up, input and master gain into an 8 ohm epi ul2 4x10, yes it did not distort, but you could really feel the compression on an amp that was not giving any more. By comparison, the Shuttle 9 gives about the same level into a Barefaced Midget T (brill speaker!)with no feeling of compression or loss of headroom at only 50% input gain and 50% master volume......no comparison for me. This is my experience with a Micro 550, but everyone has there own views.
    All imo :)

  5. Barefaced Midget T is brill, did a 500 seat venue, no pa support with shuttle9. massive bottom C's on 5 string, no farting. On the back of this I sold my Epi ul410 and ordered a Compact to beef up the Midget in big gigs, but I think I'll be doing most gigs with Midget only. It was a close call on ordering a second midget as it is so good, but I weakened and thought the Compact will give even more big bottom.......we'll see!

I know its all subjective and all that, but does anyone own one, or tried one of these amps, or can give me an opinion on them??

    Thanks,

    Steve
No where near 500 watts, Shuttle 9 is much better if you don't need the 2 channels and mic input. Very well made but doesn't cut it volume wise. I didn't think the Micro 500 had any "life" to it's sound, very sterile.

  7. Due to downsizing, I have an "as new" Epifany UL2 4x10 8 ohm 1000 watt cab for sale (just over 1 year old). Comes with thick padded cover (Jenart design).
    Location...Scotland near Glasgow.
£500 + shipping. (shipping looks like about £30 for most of UK + insurance..guessing about £20 extra)

  8. You should look here and talk to Alex before you decide which speaker to buy. I've been through quite a few "high end" cabs over the years, but have found the Midget T to be very good. Currently thinking about adding a Compact and selling my Epi 4x10.

Read the info on the site, I was quite sceptical, but the Midget T does what it says on the tin.
Hi everyone,

I'm playing an American Standard 'P' with La Bella FS flats through a Littlemark III and a Traveller 151 P rear ported cab.

I'm really struggling to get the sound I want: the full, warm, deep, well-rounded 60's/70's Country Music thing you hear on the likes of Kris Kristofferson/Glen Campbell/Charlie Pride, etc.

The rear-ported 15" Traveller is very punchy and very clear, but not really close to what I want.

    My question is 2-fold really.

I've got the chance to buy the now discontinued Markbass Standard Front Ported 151 HF or, alternatively, buy an altogether different make of 15" cab to go with my Littlemark.

Can anybody tell me whether there will be any great difference between the sound of my Traveller and the Standard 151 HF and whether it will be worth the investment?

The 2nd part of my question is really whether I would be better off getting a completely different cab (either 1x15" or 2x15") from someone like Mesa or Ampeg or Aguilar, etc? If so, what would serve me best for this warm, full, rounded, deep Country 'old-school', vintage sound I want?

    Thanks everyone.
9. I'm using a shuttle 9 into a midget t and it sounds great. loads of power for such a small rig
    :)
We play rock / indie covers.
Think Editors, Radiohead, Muse, KOL and stuff.
Singer, two distorted guitards and a loud drummer.

We always play with PA. So my bass rig is for monitoring only.

It's a loud band. However yesterday night seemed a bit less loud than normal.
Or maybe that's the effect of no more messy lows on stage.

I ran the Shuttle at full power. It coped, but there was not much headroom left.
    So I'm thinking about a Shuttle 6.0 / 9.0, Genz Benz Streamline (Jan 11), TC RH450 or GK MB-500.
    Much to choose from, indeed.
10. Thanks Alex, Interested to try a Big One as well....full 1000 watts from my Puma1000 at 8ohms into that cab.
Unfortunately it only just left Scotland so it wont be back until it's visited the rest of Great Britain!
11.
its a 4 the 5 is US made...the preamps on these arent great also..
Radius will be fine on a 4, and John East does a nice replacement pre.....similar to the one on my OW jazz.

  12.
Thinking really hard about getting one of these from a fellow B'Chatter. My only concern is the 7.5 radius but it looks to be a peach otherwise! Am I too picky? Should I hang on and look for a Shuker J Classic or a Lakland? I hate it when you have money and suddenly you realise you can't decide! :)
I think you would get used to the radius, is it a 4 or a 5?
