1. I'm guessing they'll release a demo vid fairly soon?
2. Just seen this looks interesting, I'm not late to seeing this am I haha? http://www.gak.co.uk/en/mxr-m85-bass-distortion/110686
3. At last bass magazine interviewed nick and his board at last has been revealed! Really happy with this issue!
4. Cheers guys I shall buy with confidence! was just a bit worried after bad experiences before of waiting 2 months for a pedal to come from another company! Thanks again
5. Hey, just about to order my VMT and have just had bad experiences in past when ordering pedals and was just wondering if anyone's used effects power supplies and what their experience was, cheers
6. Hey, I have one and love it, for the money it is great and it keeps the low end and sounds great and thick, I played mine through an svt cl and 810 the other day and it sounded huge, but even through my abm 500 and 410 it sounds big, the only bad thing is that I don't find the crossover very useful as to use it you have to have the noise gate quite high to remove noise which I don't like as I like to sustain notes and the crossover seems to cut the mids a bit at some settings! Overall though I recommend it and you can't beat it for the price! Also the blend is very useful as you can add just a touch of hair to full on mind blowing fuzz! Hope this helps, any other questions just ask Patch
7. [
I haven't played the Mayer pedal but the Okko Basstard and the VMT are very different beasts. For what you're looking for I'd go for the VMT over the Basstard definitely. The Basstard doesn't have much "vintage" about it at all. Also, look at the COG Knightfall (I must sound like a real fanboy sometimes, but these really are that good). Much cheaper than the other pedals you mention too !
Thanks I really like the sound of that COG Knightfall, any more soundclips of it would be appreciated especially at lower gain settings, I played through an ampeg svt-cl today and loved the natural compression and the slight bit of breakup I was getting so maybe an SVT simulator sort of pedal could work
8. So guys, I still haven't pulled the trigger on the Darkglass VMT as i'm still trying to be 100% sure and was wondering what it is like compared to the OKKO Basstard or the Roger Mayer TC Voodoo Bass and if anyone uses either of these and has any comments about them! I am after an overdrive that can go from breakup and a little hair to medium overdrive that will cut through the mix and sound vintage and similar to a valve amp, so are these pedals any better at this than the Darkglass VMT and are they capable of this and stand out in the overdrive market or are they ones to skip? Thanks for any help, Patch
9.
VMT into a B7K. Best of both worlds (also costs a fortune mind)
haha sounds good but yeah true a lot of money!
10.
Have you had a look at the SolidgoldFX Beta? I'm hearing nothing but good stuff about it. Might be worth a look?
I shall definitely look into it thanks hope it doesn't make my situation harder
11. Hmm I'm definitely leaning towards the vintage and I think I will buy new though as I'm building my first proper rig and like it that way
12.
Buy both, sell one, you will lost 10% perhaps, max. Best way
That is the best way but sadly I don't have the funds but I do plan to maybe buy the b3k later down the line but for now I'm pretty much sold on the VMT, cheers
13. Hmm if I can I'll try go deluxe but I doubt I will or be able to justify it I think I'll try order a VMT next week and will report back with how it goes
14. Thanks so much for the replies guys! I think I'm starting to lean towards the vintage now or if I can do it the vintage deluxe but I wonder if the extra features are worth the money for me
15.
yo, i live in leeds and have both pedals if you wanna come try them, but my availability is pretty slim as im about to go do a million gigs until the end of the month
That's very kind thanks and I don't live far away but I probably won't be able to make it over for a while anyway but thank you
16.
I've played both. The Vintage nails tubey but isn't what I'd call bright even with the Era knob cranked. The B3K doesn't sound like tubes to me at all, more like scooped, fizzy and metallic. The Vintage has more low end than the B3K; you really need the blend on the B3K to bring it back in, whereas the VMT has plenty of lows even set to 100% wet. Basically, if you like classic tube amp sounds, go Vintage. If you like modern and aggressive, go B3K. Or save for both! If I had to choose one from the two it would be the Vintage (or Vintage Deluxe if funds allowed).
ahh thats helpful thank you but seems like both is the only option right now and I need to narrow it down to one really I would love the sound that Nick gets on here if it helps for more of an idea http://youtu.be/WlMzuzud8U4
17. Hey guys, Now after getting my abm 500 and 410 I am now starting to get some money together again and basically I know I either want a b3k or a vintage microtubes but I really can't choose and I understand they're quite different animals but I love the sound of both and i'm not in a position to try them both out but I want a fairly tube like OD that can go from nice breakup to some nice grindy bright sounds that cut through the mix like an explosion so which one do you reckon will suit me more for a warm sound but also something that can get quite extreme and tear through the mix! Or do I just have to get one and the other later? Cheers, Patch
18.
Just a big muff and a POG as far as I know. Recently moved to an all Fender rig. In the studio has two Precisions and a Ric so who knows what your hearing
cheers see that's what I thought but it just can't see the big muff on some of the vids it looks smaller? Could just be me but can defintely see the pog thanks
19. Wasn't sure where to post this but as I thought it's about pedals I would put it here? So does anyone know what Nick uses for his fuzzy/distortion sound live in do I wanna know? http://youtu.be/1tWFk8ojF4M?t=1m54s cheers also in songs like one for the road is his breakup sound coming from his amp or is it a pedal? Cheers for any help, Patch
20. It's not a hum and it's like a discreet buzz that you hear on a sustaind note if you listen very closely and it happens with both basses I have and stays in any room I use it I'm wondering if I'm being paranoid or not I also use now effects it's just bass to amp
21.
Have you tried it with a different amp?
I use it with a new abm 500 and haven't had the chance to try another head as I don't have one
22. Just got my 2nd abm 410 as the first one was believed to be faulty but the new one seems to buzz a little not sure if it's normal or not and it's definitely coming from the speakers the horn also buzzes a bit aswell is this just normal or what?
23.
Does the sound happen all the time or only when you are playing. I suspect the sound is just electrical noise. Your pups and gitar lead act as an aerial and pickup all sorts of noises they shouldn't. Lots of this is high frequency stuff and will only be noticeable when the horn is on.
it happens when I play and the distortion sound is the same as whatever note I play so it seems like a sort of dodgy wire sort of thing and seems to be the horn and not other noise
24. Hi just got my new amp which is the abm 500 and 410 cab and I may be completely wrong but want to be sure as I have just got it as when I turn on the horn it sounds like it should but there's a slight buzz/ distortion sort of clipping sound coming from it and I was wondering whether its fine as its pretty unnoticeable and the horn is working or am I missing something here?
