Could we contact someone like Anderton's and negotiate a group buy?

I do like that schecter. A great balance between looking retro and purposeful.

This could be expensive. I started looking for a gig bag for my current epi thunderbird.
whick gigbags fit the vintage pro then?

I'm trying to convince myself I don't need one...!
This.
I already have a CTM-100 and Bassman 135...

No - the band were not my band - we just thought they were the best band for a wedding - a real rock n roll party band.
I am not doing much these days - I am now a solo parent to two boys of school age so I can't justify many hours out rehearsing or gigging. I am trying to improve my slab playing to a level where it could be classed as "tolerable" and maybe do the odd jam/dep and look for something when the boys are old enough to be living their own lives.

As far as I know this is the only video of me on stage. This was 17th June 1995! It was my wedding and the band got me up for a song.

Looks the sort of bass a premiership footballer would buy...

Though it's not necessarily a big deal. Intonation adjusted for fretted. Fretless you can compensate if it's not perfect.
Tuning - shouldn't be hugely out. As long as you are not changing mid song you have a minute to retune.
It may be possible to drop, and reposition slightly.Hmm. Sounds like a job for Paul Bigsby...
-
Dropping nut or bridge would alter tuning/intonation.

Can't say I have tried it with electric! never really occured to me TBH!
You're welcome to give it a try - I work from home so can even handle daytime dropins.
-
It's not listed in the spec in the instructions - I'll see if I can figure a way to weigh it, but it's, er, pretty solid :-)

15inch speaker is useless for double bass, i would stick it for sale in amp section?
I prefer 12s, but it's an amp designed for double bass so actually works rather well..
-
It's a 15. and I still have the instructions!
With modern high power amps and small, light but potent speaker cabs it's not going to compete for out and out volume - would be great for a quieter player.
I'll try to either find and reinstate the pics, or take some more.

I spotted Nick Lowe playing a Hamer eight on a Dave Edmunds number the other day. I'd seen it before and wondered but this thread encouraged me to look it up when I saw it again. I like Nick Lowe as a singing bassist too. I have almost got Love the Sound of Breaking Glass down.
This?

Is that for the Schaller bridge? I would have thought it would be cheaper to buy direct form Schaller, or through one of their UK dealers.
Could be interesting on pricing. The schaller site lists it as €108 - lnock off the discount and add postage and you are looking <>£100. Warmoth list it at $65, but their postage prices are geared around shipping bodies and necks, and are pricey even for that IMO. Cheapest puts it to <> $95 - £70, but you will be hit by the "handling charge" by importers, Duty & VAT so it's going to be close on price...

But where do you get one from as an aftermarket device?
Schaller do direct mail order.

Tune Japan also make a one-piece 8-string bridge. I fact I'm surprised that they haven't been mentioned more in this thread. If I was going to buy another 8-string bass I wouldn't make any decision before trying a Tune.
able.
What is the problem with the T-O-M style 8-string bridge? The generic one fitted to the Dean, Schecter, Spector etc. basses is a perfectly functional unit. It's just the horrible tailpiece that makes it look so ugly IMO.
That's the problem - it may be perfectly functional, it's just ugly.
Tune have been mentioned, it's just difficult to work out how viable it is to buy one. I do quite like http://usdweb.sakura.ne.jp/custom.order.gallery.top/framepage.tune.phoenix.custom.order.gallery.html page 16, No.TP-000467...

Schaller 471. That's it. As far as I'm aware no production bass uses it.
Don't bother with the Hagstrom. It's a 4 saddle bridge and is total crap.
Thanks - that was the conclusion I was coming to :-(
While the Hagstrom looks cool, I had pretty much discounted it as being a tad behind.P.
-
Talking bridges - I know the schaller is available as an aftermarket bridge, but what bases have a non-TOM bridge? The Hagstrom as a one piece, but if one wanted an 8-string bass with one piece bridge that allowed independent intonation adjustment, just how narrow would the choices be?
-
That B208 does look nice - nearer spector than schecter price as well.Pity it doesn't look available yet :-(

It's the Studio version - I picked it up at an amazing price and it was in stock in the UK. Always fancied one.
From Drew @ GBBL by any chance? I had me eye on that!
-
Possibly - it has been there as well. It's here mainly as it is aimed at double bass players. It's a bit of a niche amp, and technology has moved on with even upright players now classing 100W as a practice amp...
It's now on ebay as well. As you can tell I have not been in a hurry to sell it :-)- 1

She's a nice player - I was impressed when I saw them on Part Time bands - would love to see them live.
