1. I've really started taking my pedal board seriously this year. For many years I had a TU-2, EHX Bass Blogger and a CEB-3 which I never used. Now I'm gigging a lot more and playing many different styles of music so i'm branching out into making some different sounds. I've now expanded to TU-2 > Behringer DC9 > OC-2 > GE-7B > EHX Bass Big Muff Pi > Boss CEB-3 > Behringer BDI 21 I'm pretty pleased with this set up but I'm looking to add a Q-Tron and probably a better compressor. I think I'm going to need a bigger board!
2. An update from the OP. I ended up getting the PF 350 which i have now returned for a refund for several reasons. The amp turned out to be underpowered for what i need, the limiter would kick in even at relatively low volumes. Also, the 'balanced' XLR on the back of the amp doesn't appear to be balanced at all. The signal into the PA was really hot even with the gain at 10 o'clock. And the lack of a pad meant i'd need to run it into a DI box. These problems coupled with the reliability issues worried me enough to take up the 7 day returns policy of the shop. I've now ordered a GK MB500. Fingers crossed it's better than the Ampeg!
3. Yes that is an option (i'm returning the PF350 using the 7 day return policy) but i'd prefer to try it before buying it. That will be the way i try it if i can't find it anywhere near though.
4. I'm selling a brand new Digitech Bass Synth Wah pedal that have only used at home once. It's not quite what i'm looking for so it's got to go. It comes with the original box, 9v battery and all the manuals. £40 posted. Or £35 collected from Colchester, Essex. Thanks!
5. Does anyone know any shops that stock the GK MB500 in the South East? I'm in Essex and i want to try it out but i can't seem to find anywhere who stocks GK gear. Closest is GAK in Brighton as far as i can find. I've just bought the Ampeg PF 350 and i'm very disappointed by the EQ options, power and unusable XLR out. And so my amp search begins again!
6.
'Not failing' wasn't on your need list? It probably should be.
Haha yes maybe you're right, but I had hoped that the issues had been sorted by now.
7.
However, the PF500 has had some reliability problems. There are quite a few options in the micro head market.
Yea I'm aware of these issues but the Ampeg seems to tick all the boxes for what I need. Any other suggestions for a 300w+ lightweight head for under £400?
8. Hi all, I'm having a crisis trying to decide on a new amp setup! I'm currently looking to upgrade my amp and get a head and cab set up but I'm unsure on what to get that will work out with the cab I have. I already own an Ashdown 210 cab rated 250w at 8ohms. I'm now looking at the Ampeg PF 500 head as I want something very portable. The problem I have with this is that the PF 500 puts out 350w at 8ohms which is 100w more than the cab can handle. Will this fry the cab if I push it too hard? Another option is to sell the cab and get something with a higher impedance. I've got about £500 to spend on the right head and cab, and I'm open to other makes of amp heads, just looking for something lightweight and powerful enough for shows without PA support. I play in a rock covers band and a funk band so need something versatile and portable. I don't fancy having to take around two cabs to get enough volume without PA support. Anyone got any suggestions? Cheers
9. This pattern pops up in Psycho Killer by Talking Heads and California Girls by The Beach Boys. It's also in a lot of early Rolling Stones stuff such as All Over Now. It's such a great pattern!
10. Boss ODB-3 for sale. I'm selling this as I don't use it enough and I need the cash. It's in pretty much perfect condition with one small chip in the paint. No box but comes with new 9v battery. I'm based in Colchester, Essex but can post in the UK.
11. I spent most of the afternoon working out the bass parts from the Marshall Mathers LP by Eminem. Mainly to work on my ear but also to learn more hip hop lines because they're so simple but groove so well!
12. That's great! I thought it sounded cheap in the shop so I couldn't resist buying it even though I don't really have a need for it at the moment. Good investment though I suppose!
13. So I recently picked up a Boss GE7-B from a music shop while on tour for £22. It's in mint condition (photo below), it works perfectly and it came with the original box which is also in great condition. I checked the serial number and it was made in June '94. Am I right in thinking that I've got an amazing deal? http://instagram.com/p/aLYJQOHCLC/
14. Sorry guys I missed your replies. It's gone now I'm afraid. Thanks
