1. Have meaning to post on the site more often so what better place than to talk about last nights gig! Was with my metal/classic rock covers band Rulebreaker at The Sitwell Tavern in Derby. Second time we have played there and after what we thought was a dodgy first gig so were all keen to show everyone what we were really like! Despite a pre-gig fight between some of the locals we went down really well and have hopefully got some bike rally work for the future. Only downside was still not being able to hear myself properly but I put that down to the position of my amp on the somewhat cramped stage that was half taken up by a boxing simulator that "couldn't be moved"!
2. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
3. Really happy the DJ is working for you Mike! The Bongo is excellent, can really see why people rate them so highly if you get over the looks!
4. I also have one of these bought cheaply, albeit in Bright Pink! Stock it does actually sound very good especially for the price although didnt quite have enough low end so I decided on a pickup upgrade. A word of warning on replacing the pickup is that the stock pickups seem to be wider than standard replacements such as the Seymour Duncan I wanted to drop in so you may need to drill some different holes in order to do this. Also this may cause problems with the pickguard fitting as I found. Bridge can easily be replaced with the usual suspects, e.g. Gotoh, Badass etc. All in all though a very playable bass for not alot of money!
5.
OK - it's not an obvious question at all. Yes it does make a difference if the pot value is changed as the electronics are generally designed to work best with specific pot values. To be honest I'm not sure exactly what difference it would make in this case. Often the most noticable difference is that the useful range of the control is reduced (i.e everything happens within a very small movement of the pot rather than all the way throughout its travel). I would suggest you email Peavey. Tell what make and model bass you have, suggest that it's been modified at some time and that you want to restore it and therefore need to know the correct pot value. Peavey Contact Info
Ok thanks alot for your help. That was my plan anyway but I thought I'd run it by you guys anyway in case you knew. Cheers, Jon
6. Well after looking at the pot again it says 2 x 100k but it was rather well hidden. However, this does not seem to be the original pot anyway. So my question still remains - will it matter if the resistance is changed and what sort of effect could it have? Hopefully, this question isnt as obvious!
7. Hi, I need to replace the concentric pot that controls the mid frequencies and variable mid sweep on my Peavey Millennium USA and was wondering if it mattered what resistance the pot is, as i have seem some that are 250k/500k and others that are 500k/500k? I know very little about electronics so any help would be appreciated! Jon
8. Hi all! Thought I'd better finally introduce myself on here as I've lurked without posting for about a year now! Bought and sold a few things on the old sites too so thought it best to start contributing! Right, about me! Im 19, live in Lincoln (yes there are more of us here than we thought!) and have been playing bass for about 18 months now and am currently gigging with a Classic Rock/Metal covers band based in Chesterfield called Nightowl, (check us out at www.nightowl.xbuild.com), however I will have to leave them soon as I'm off to uni in Norwich in September but hope to find another band there! Onto my what seems like ever changing gear due to the constant state of GAS I've got from these forums! MarkBass Little Mark II head (only got it Monday but it seems awesome!) Ashdown Mini 48 Cab (not my cup of tea to be honest, may sell soon!) Trace Elliot BLX80 (good little amp has served me well so far) Japanese Fender Precision (main bass, bought from Homer of these boards last October) Tokai Thunderbird (love the sound of this but can't cope with the neck dive!) Cort GB74 (lovely bass but having a few issues with it re: sound and a terrible/dead sounding E string) Shine Jazz Bass Copy (my first bass, very good for the price and an excellent starter bass) Behringer BLE100 Limiter Enhancer (yes its Behringer but it does its job well) Ibanez Weeping Demon Wah (used very sparingly but I'm experimenting more with it!) Also, in the next few days I shall hopefully be receiving a Flitesound 15" cab from BB2000 from this forum! Well I hope that gives you some idea, sorry if it has gone on a bit! Cheers, Jon
