2. thanks for the info i am going to look at a pair of GS12 4 OHM CABS on saturday Iam going to run them with my ashdown abm evo11 900 head as the cabs are rated at 600w each with my gb bass hoping to get a nice full sound with no distortion I have been told the cabs sound a lot better with won of the AGUILUR amps as the are tuned to work with the cabs i hope my gb can help out in this department

3.
It's ok if you can drive there, if you have to post it that's where the cost comes from. I don't have any relatives down there either.
I understand the post issuses but for pease off mind i would send it to Ashdown

4. Selling my two cabs the first is an ABM 1X 15 8 OHM 300 WATT CAB in good condition with ashdown cover £170
and an Ashdown ABM 4x10 with horn 4ohm 600watt cab in good condition with ashdown cover £260

5. just had my HEAD REPAIRED at ashdownn abm evo11 900 as they are only 30 mins from me i took it there myself i watched russell one of the techs and a bass player at work found the fault and then tested the amp £28
i have had a another abm head serviced at ashdown full service in which the amp was stripped down to a empty shell each part tested and cleaned four new trim pots replaced and then tested on the bench and in there sound booth £78
must inportant is that they have all the genuiane parts in stock and if it is a earley ashdown one of the techs at chelmsford would made it and it will come out off the service with the amp like new

Had a reply from Russell at Ashdown he has booked it in for repair friday he reckons its nothing to serious worst case £60 i will keep you informed for futre referance

7.
Is it in warranty ? Even if not i'd contact Ashdown for them to try and diagnose the problem.
Thanks for the reply i have sent an email to mark at ashdown they are only 30min from me at chelmsford i have been over there once before very good service

8.
Have you connected too low a load and blown the power section?
my cabs are are 4x10 at 4ohm and a 1x15 at 8 ohm one is connected to the right channell and the other to the left i was told by ashdown this will be ok but dont link them to the same channell which i have never done

9.
OK you might be running at full power but if the speaker can't handle the excursion it's wasted anyway.

I'd try looking for a more efficient driver (at least 100dB) with a higher Xmax regardless whether its 4ohm or 8ohm.
thanks for the reply any recomendations

10.
thanks alex the proplem i am trying to overcome is the differance in ohms in the two cabs as the other cab is the asdown abm 410t 650w and is rated at 4 ohms it is used with the asdown evo11 575+575
to get the maximum power from the amp as you will know i need to run both cabs at the same ohms or do you think that it wont make that much differance the amp will only be used at max half power its quality not quanterty i need
thanks for your recomendations i have also sent an email to ashdown to see what they have to say

11.
The thermal power handling rating is one of the least significant specs and there are very few 15" speakers available in 4 ohm nominal impedance - you're better getting a better 8 ohm model than a compromised 4 ohm one purely to gain a few watts from your amp that you speaker is unlikely to have the excursion to handle.

If you're willing to spend the money you can't really beat the Kappalite 3015 as a standalone 15".

15. Iam selling my music man HH 4 STRING in Honey sunburst it is show room condition looking for around £800 comes with musicman case and all paperwork bought from strings and things for £1400 10 mths ago

16. hi i have an original abm 500 1 x 15 combo which i use with an abm 1x15 extension cab with my muicman hh bass i recently took the amp back to ashdown for a service and was told the following from the ashdown enginer the origanal abm 500 has a differant sound to there two later models the abm 11 and abm 111 the abm 11 being a little plastic in its sound the abm 111 is a cross between the original abm and the abm 11
the origanial abm was made in the uk the other two made abroad the original abm was very close to sounding like the best years of the trace elliot range of amps made in romford in essex back in the late 70s and early eighties which if you did not know where made by mark who went on to form the ashdown range
my sound is full of depth and character and i can dial in any sound i need from the chills to the funk brothers to slap there are some people out there useing the wrong amp and cabs in the ashdown range you should not be useing a mag amp with abm speakers and vice a versa they will give you a poor sound
the klystron is made in the uk to order and is very close to the original abm models which are the best of the amps to date and are quite rare so if you have got one dont sell it that was the advice i was given by the enginers at ashdown
the only other amp/ cab i would swap over to is the mesa bogie big block with the ampeg 6x10 hlf cab the sound from this with my musicman was increadable i tried it out at pmt at southend along side the klystron 1000 into the 8x10 neo cab and there was certain notes around the 9/10/ fret on the e string this cab did not like we canged the cabs over to 2 4 x 10 and sounded the same plugged back into the messa/ampeg rig and on quarter volume when playing slap the punch /air movement iwas incredable price wise the mesa is about £350 more then the klystron but if you are looking for a great all round sound i will argue with any one that with the musicman you will struggle to get a better sound
the ebs equipment are great amps i have used them as i was introduced to them from bernie at gb guitars who distributes them for ebs i have a gb bass and they sound great with the ebs amps but there are sounds that you can not get from the ashdown rig that you can from the ebs set up useing the gb bass but then there are sounds that you can get from the ashdown rig that you can only get with the musicman bass
so golden rules
what sound do you want
take you bass and try them out you will be amased at the differance in sounds
use your own ears to make up your mind not the commision selling shop worker
if you are not happy with the sound it will effect your playing as you will never be comfortable and fully enjoy your playing
as for the wooly sounding abms you have just got to adjust your amp settings and use an active bass and you here the differance yes i know 1x15 cabs are slower in responce but in my opnion the 10 inch speakers still lack depth apart from the that ampeg cab

17.
Thanks for the input guys, I've just taken delivery of and EBS Multicomp from fleabay. I'm still tinkering at the moment but first impressions are 'wow' what a great pedal. It seems to give real solidity to the sound right accross all strings and adds real life (best word I can think of) to the overall tone, not that it was bad to begin with. I've also picked up a power supply today because I don't have too much faith in the lifespan of the average battery!

All the best Guys and a Happy New Year to all.......:)
hi i have a ebs multicomp bought from the bass centre i see you have a nine volt mains surply where did you get that from as i am after one for mine do ebs do there own veresion
