  1. I'm looking for a decent set of passive p & j pickups for my tanglewood rebel back up bass (due to mental feedback on the standard ones) and I'm willing to swap a boss bass overdrive pedal and a mooer fog micro pedal for them. The mooer is brand new and the boss is a few years old now but still working fine. Can send pics if required.
  2. Yeah there's plenty on evilbay but I can't be arsed waiting. I'll see if there's a maplins near me, thanks man. I have a positive centre I might modify, my work does cable moulding so that's probably my best bet for a short term fix
  3. Is there anywhere on the high street (b&q, Argos etc) that I can get a 9v adapter with a negative centre? I was hoping to blast my new mooer fog at practise this weekend but I haven't got an adapter. Numb nuts here thought it would take a battery, doh! :-/
  4. Wow some immense lists! I've only just bought my fourth bass, I've been playing for about 14 years too! Anyway! P bass copy circa 1995, nice bass, red and white. No name but had seymour duncan single coil pups. Mostly used for mindless punk! Now away to be de fretted. Squier p bass circa 1999, hated it! It was the same colour as the copy. Terrible! I thought I had lost any ability I had until I went back to the copy! Put me off squier. It put me off changing until last year! Ibanez srx430 white/black. Best bass I've played! Trialed loads of basses and chose this one. Its perfect for me ergonomically! Sounds fat too! This is my main one. Bought brand new. Nice preamp and mid tone knob is sweet. Sounds ace doing anything! Tanglewood rebel 4k. Was a runner up in the search. Amazing for the price I thought, but I just just got a quick jam. I receive it on Tuesday so hopefully it arrives safely! It will need set up and mybe more but it was a bargain second hand. Will be using as a dropped tuned bass for a few songs. My copy doesn't like being dropped! I've caught the bug now though! Watch this space!
  5. Due to issues with singers hitting notes (or not) we have decided to drop to e minor tuning for a few songs. To save a bit of faffing around on stage, I'm going to use a second budget bass. I've spotted a tanglewood rebel 4k I like the look and price of. Can anyone vouch for these ladies?
  6. Thanks dude, I'll check that out. Yeah I play through a 800w but still can't hear it, maybe its earplugs I need! I've done some basic recording but the quality is shocking. I have a friend I'm away to work with who creates drum n bass tunes.
  7. Thanks for responding I'm just looking to record some solo stuff, I'd like to listen to myself retrospectively, I also forget stuff I come up with all the time. So just a rough demo I suppose. I have a Samsung lappy. I was out the game for a long time but have just joined a function band with a brass section, I can hardly hear myself a lot of the time! Thanks again!
  8. There's a local guy selling a lexicon alpha with reverb software? Yae or nae?
  9. It seems the way in which music is recorded has changed a lot in my time away! Could anyone recommend a starter USB interface for recording my bass onto my notebook? Its an active, not sure if that's relevant. Also is there anything else I'd need? ie software etc. I've always just played live so its all new to me this malarky and need it put into Lehmanns terms! Thanks Stu.
  10. Fascinating! Well first practice tonight :-) went well. I just played the chords and no one seemed to mind :-) I'd been perfecting that trumpet solo bit from superstition like buggery then the bloody trumpet player couldn't play it cos its too fast!!! Grrr.
  11. Thanks guys, I've been asked to learn 12 songs and I've thrown 2 back at them that I could play with my eyes shut. I'm just trying to get basic riffs down so I can play something and hopefully they'll evolve after some practise. YouTube is handy in such situations! Its just sh*t luck that I'd never played any of them before!
  12. Thank you very much, the chords are a start, I only got list on Saturday and try out is on friday! So far I think I've nailed superstitious get lucky Valerie and call me maybe really looking forward to it. I think I need to be playing with other people now to get the timing and structure. Happy days.
  13. Hello, after a couple months plodding away on my own, I've been asked to join a band, yey! Thing is I've been given a list of songs to learn and although I've worked most of them out, I'm getting bassists block with a couple! Could anyone save me some time and tell me the notes/tab to animal nitrate by suede? Its like I can't hear the bass, weird!
  14. Oh aye yi need furry boots up here like. Its the 6th of April and we have snow! Again! Don't really mind as I got my new bass yesterday:-) its actually not an srx360 as posted before. The guy I ordered it from phoned to say that it would be a while until they had them in stock and offered me an srx430 instead. I went for it as its supposed to be higher spec but it sounds and feels the same, the only difference being that its white with a black pickgaurd. I'm so so happy with it though. Its a hundred times better than nasty nick. If I'd got one of these years ago I'd probably not stopped playing. A new bass really does get you going doesn't it? I've played more in the last two days than I have all year. Thanks for all the comments peeps.
  15. Hi, I've stumbled across this thread as I've been having some trouble too. I ordered an srx360 about a week ago from dolphin but was out of stock. The guy phoned me and asked if I wanted to wait or whatever and I said yeah. I got a bit restless today and got in touch, the guy offered me an srx430 instead as he had one in stock. I've said yes but can't seem to find what the difference is between a 360 and a 430. Looks seems to be all that I can find that's different. Can anyone shed any light? I tried a 360 and loved it but didn't even know the 430 existed!?!?
  16. Hello everybody, I'm new to this site, I'm just trying to get back into bass playing after a 5 year hiatus. I live in aberdeenshire, Scotland, I'm 29 and might be 29 for a while I've decided! I currently use a squier copy ive named nasty nick but have ordered myself an Ibanez srx360 after trialling one in a local shop (ordered it online a lot cheaper) it just felt so good compared to nasty nick! I've not got huge hands so the srx suited me better than most models, especially the squiers. I've got a bx1200 and I'm hoping that the srx will sound super sweet through it. I'm considering taking a few lessons to get me going again. If anyone could recommend a tutor in this area it would be much appreciated. I really like bass players like Mani, Andy Rourke and Damon Minchella but I'm into pretty much any kind of music. Anyway that's me. Happy slappin'
