Thanks for the offer @Al Krow really appreciate it but just messaged one of the lads in the band asking for his opinion on what i should get and he has a spare tuner that he doesn't want (polytune 3, downsized to a polytune mini)
so free tuner decent tuner is waiting for me at next practice.

Don't think anyone (not even me - haha!) is going to begrudge you a replacement tuner.
Ha Excellent!
If it helps i really don't want to buy one

technicality question!
If i found my Tuner pedal to have an issue (the jacks don't hold the leads in and pop out too easily, and there enclosed jacks so i cant just squeeze them a bit) , is replacing it classed as a gear acquisition and an instant failure? I don't think it should be but i thought i would check..

It’s ok! He wouldn’t go as low as I wanted (quite rightly to be honest) so the early wobble has passed!

Already Struggling with this, depending on if i can get it for the right price i may be first out. Need a backup bass for the main band (as i sold my old one last week) and one has just appeared that i'm interested in.
-
First day back at work.. and not got anything to do.
so I’ve spent all morning looking at basses and have major gas! I ended up buying strings to try and ease the issue
-
Told guitarist friend i was doing this, his response was but i thought you want..(listed about 30 items) and then came up with the idea of starting a non-serious cover band. Obviously every bass own would never be suitable for this venture, so i'm not even into the start of it and i am already struggling.

yep there is some good advice in this thread. I would look into using socket pin connectors for the capacitors that you are looking at changing. that way you can experiment with different values.

Ok after too much thought over it. I’m in.
should really try to not buy anything this year. Seeing as this year I’ve bought three basses, two amps, two cabs and quite a few pedals.
although I have a hankering for a shell pink jazz bass... (that I know I would never use and would be a waste of money) -
I used to own a Super Compact and have switched over to a Two10. I don't slap but the biggest difference sound wise between the two is that the super compact seems to put out what is fed into it where as the two10 colours the sound to have a more "vintage" or warmer sound. i changed over as i was after a more retro tone, i think if i was after a slap tone or similar i would have stayed with the super compact.
If you do need help with suggestions for your sound and the difference between the cabs, Alex at Barefaced is wonderful to deal with and really does help. So i would suggest sending him an email

The middle output is 18v switchable
http://cioks.com/products/dc5/
although if it doesn’t work for you im sure someone will chime in with something soon. Good luck on your search

They sell flex cables for them so you can split the power between more pedals (depending on the current draw of each pedal)
-
I’ve been using a cioks DC5 for the last couple of years and never had a problem. I originally got it to isolate a couple of digital pedals which it did perfectly. Fits under a pedal train too which is a very handy.

You may want to think about lining the inside of it with some copper tape or similar.
if you struggle to get any of the bits a good place to get components is bitsbox usually pretty decent prices and usually have everything you need.
looks like it should be fun to build, but be warned it is addictive!

i agree with Fretmeister it totally depends on the situation.
Americana backing band i play in: no pedals. Bass to amp
Stoner, Doom Band i play in: Fuzz pedal always on, VT bass always on (so i dont have to push the amp to break up to get the sound i want)
-
Seeing as I took a picture for another thread I thought I’d post it here.
Signal is
1. pitchblack mini (want to replace as the patch cable pops out when I press it with my foot although I might see if it’s just the jack that needs bending) may change to a polytune
2. Wilson Freaker wah mini
3. homemade fuzz (Russian big muff with blend knob)
4. VT Bass
I am contemplating whether to get a thumpinator. Do I actually need one? I hear lot of praise for them but is it snake oil? What would be the benefit for me? I play doom/stoner so it’s drop C if that would make a difference.

How did I miss this? Been umming and ahhing over a BF one10 but the peeling tolex is an absolute deal breaker for me. Spent the pocket money on an UA Apollo twin instead and used it once in 2 months. Had too many mad dash gigs these would have been perfect for.
As far as I know the peeling Tolex was an issue on older cabs but new ones havent had this issue. i have a two10 and used to have a six10. Neither had tolex peel on them. I may be wrong but I seem to remember them being made aware of the issue and fixing the issues our best bet if your worries is to email Alex at barefaced

Yep when I used to have my abm. I had it serviced by them, they found the vu meter not to be working accurately so changed it free of charge.
Excellent customer service and never felt a pain asking questions
-
Yeah i had one a few years ago too and missed it so i ended having to get one when i saw that they did the mini one. I only got it a few weeks ago. It's great and i don't miss having it in a bigger enclosure.

I’d probably go for Something similar to my set up now
Tuner
thumpinator- thinking of getting one anyway
wah - Wilson freaker
fuzz - Cog grand Tarkin (Want one but I have a homemade muff with blend knob instead, it does the job)
overdrive - I use a vt bass for this so prob keep it.
power supply cioks dc5
so something like this:

I've only recently sold me Barefaced Six10. I also have a Barefaced two10.
A few reasons why i sold it. The first was that i needed the money (new house buying) and i just couldn't justify keeping it. Usually at a gig there either isn't enough space, it doesn't warrant it, it won't fit in the singers car, (if he drives us), there's a set of narrow stairs or i just plain can't be bothered with it.
I've been mostly using the two10 since i bought it and a haven't missed the big cab. Maybe it doesnt quite have the heft and it's smaller so without putting it on something its further away from the ear. but the benefits of ease of carrying, fitting in a car etc have made it easy to transition to it. Do i need the volume from more speakers? No i havent ever felt i needed more and at gigs when it would be needed it's been put through the PA.

Reluctantly putting up for sale my Barefaced Six10. Looking at buying a house this coming year and need the money (also will need the space)
I'm sure everyone knows what these are all about and the wording on the Barefaced website is better than anything i could write: https://barefacedaudio.com/products/six_10?variant=13875021119546
I've had this since the start of the year (arrived 30.01.19) and to be honest haven't used it as much as i wanted to. (band hasn't been giggin enough!)
It sounds amazing and come with barefaced protective cover.
Could be tempted with a swap for a barefaced two10 with some money my way!
Collection only as i don't fancy putting this through the post
Will put more details pictures up if needed!
Cost £1359 new with cover so i think £900 is a fair price for one in this condition.

Yes it is easy enough.
I bought a Retrovibe stinger preamp for my 3 band which is a clone of the 2 band eq. Couple of wires to unsolder (is that a word) and resolder and it’s done.
