  1. Well, so far, I've been in the studio a couple of times and we've got rough mixes down on 2 songs, and I've had 2 "auditions" with a blues band and I got the job, more through my enthusiasm than my playing ability I reckon, but nevertheless great fun.
Been enjoying the forum, and as my knowledge grows, I might even feel like voicing opinions now and again, rather than just asking dumb questions.

  2. Alright, apart from the GAS thing, I'm a noddy, aging rocker who has had a bass since age 14, who has finally decided to get out there and play some music before the 60th looms too close.
I have basses, and a 1 x 15, and a 2 x 10 GK cabs, both oldies but goodies, also a Yorkville 450w head. My question is regarding the head, it seems to be little known in these parts, being Canadian made, I think.
What happens if you go out for a gig and your amp doesn't fire up? Is it reasonable or indeed necessary to carry a spare. Chances of both the cabs being dud are slim I would say, but how much can you trust and elderly solid state amp?
I've got a gig as part of a duo in 3 weeks time (albeit a charidy gig), also I've had an "audition" as bass player in a blues trio last week and they've asked me back for another look, so I feel I owe it to myself to GAS another amp.
Or am I just looking for an excuse to spend money I can't really afford?

  3. Sorry, if this has been covered before, could someone post a link please?
    Question.....
What are the differences between the MAG range and the ABM range. Or have I got my wires crossed and one is a combo.
Heard people mentioning that Ashdown now import some gear from China, when did this start, and should the Chinese gear be avoided?
    Orrrrr, to simplify,
Could somebody recommend me a good Ashdown head please.

    Ta awfully

  4. Reminds me of the Not the Nine O'clock News sketch where the auctioneer introduces lot No 298 "the Caymann Blue" (postage stamp) thought to be the only one in existence etc etc. It sells for 3.5 million or something like that.
Next is lot No 299..... another Caymann Blue
